Let’s talk about numbers for a minute. People can become obsessed with them, like Jim Carrey in The Number 23 or Sean Gullette in Pi. Sometimes, those numbers refer to dates, as in 666 for the 2006 remake of The Omen, which opened on June 6th, or 2012 which refers to the Mayan end-of-the-world prophecy. Darren Bousman (Saw II, III and IV) combines the two numerical novelties in his new apocalyptic horror film, 11-11-11. The original trailer we showed you earlier this year seems like a mash-up of scenes of movies that deal with religion, divination through numbers and preventing the apocalypse. However, a new teaser trailer that just popped up today hints that the director is approaching the marketing, at least, with a lighter touch. Hit the jump to check out the trailer.Let me just say that I like this trailer a lot more than the first one. Around the 0:40 mark, you get the feeling that it’s not taking itself too seriously and that’s the only way to handle this kind of movie. Whether 11-11-11 will carry that dark humor over into the actual movie or if it’s just to start a buzz, I’m not sure. I will say that I enjoyed Bousman’s entries in the Saw franchise for what they were. I’m also a big fan of his Repo! The Genetic Opera, both the short and feature length. And after hearing positive fan reviews of his Mother’s Day remake, I might give 11-11-11 a shot. The premise of 11-11-11 is as follows: At 11:11 on the 11th day of the 11th month, the 11th gate of Heaven will open up and something from another world will enter the earthly realm for 49 minutes. The film stars Timothy Gibbs (Another World), Michael Landes (Final Destination 2) and Wendy Glenn (The L Word), and will hit theaters on…you guessed it!Here's the trailer (via Shock Til You Drop):
