We have slowly been learning more about Hulu’s original series 11/22/63 in the run up to its premiere this February. Based on Stephen King’s 2011 novel of the same name, the show follows Jake Epping (James Franco), a high school English teacher on a mission to travel back in time to prevent the assassination of President Kennedy. The show will consist of eight episodes, although there is potential for more.
Now, Hulu has released a new teaser trailer for the show, which also stars Chris Cooper (Adaptation), Josh Duhamel (Transformers), Lucy Fry (Vampire Academy), T.R. Knight (42), Cherry Jones (The Village), Sarah Gadon (Maps to the Stars), George MacKay (Pride), and Daniel Webber (Sleeping Beauty). Check it out below:
“The Past Hates Trespassers” is a pretty good slogan for a show with such a premise. The book was well-received when it initially debuted, and if these teasers are any indication, the show may receive a similar welcoming. It certainly seems intriguing, especially given that J.J. Abrams is an executive producer. With all the goodwill he has been receiving in the midst of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the association of his name alone bodes well. This could all perhaps lead to Hulu having a hit on their hands. The casting of Franco is not at all obvious, but he can put in interesting work, so it’ll be interesting to see how his presence plays out.
Editor’s note: This bit of trivia should interest the audiophiles among you. According to Hulu’s YouTube account, the song that plays over this teaser trailer is a rare national treasure:
Looking for the song? You won’t find it here. The track is “Over and Over” by Bobby Vinton. It’s a B-side from 1962 so rare it’s never been digitized or even issued on CD or cassette before. The master recording was unarchived and digitized by Sony records specifically for this trailer.
Pretty cool stuff. /Note
If that trailer left you interested, be sure to check out 11.22.63 when it lands on Hulu February 15, 2016. Until then, here is the official synopsis for the series:
