Jackie Chan’s next film, the historical epic 1911, is billed as his 100th feature. This appears to be mostly marketing math to capitalize on the centennial of the subject matter, “the founding of the Republic of China when nationalist forces led by Sun Yat-sen (Winston Chao) overthrew the Qing Dynasty.” The first trailer is online, and looks suitably heroic.
Chan co-directed the movie with cinematographer Zhang Li (Red Cliff). 1911 is set for a day-and-date release in the United States and China on October 11. Watch the trailer after the break.
As Bleeding Cool noted when writing about the trailer, Chan is credited as “general director” while Zhang receives the more traditional “director” credit. Since this is a war movie, I assume Chan was focused on advising the actors playing generals — Zhang took care of the rest.
Jokes aside, Chan has always been very involved with the below-the-line side of his movies when it comes to the stunts. Below is a clip of Chan choreographing a 1911 fight — it’s always a treat to watch the innovator at work.

why don’t John Woo work with Jackie Chan.. or even some of the Asians best.. Wong Kar Wai.. Ang Lee.. you know, Chan can be a great actor too in a drama film that has little action.
a Wong Kar Wai love story with Chan would just be a killer.. i hope they work someday
John Woo did work with Jackie Chan. Back in the 70s before Chan was a big star in Woo’s “The Hand Of Death”.
I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure Chan reached his 100th movie years ago. I thought that was a known thing. That he was in over 100+ movies.
I have come to the conclusion that the 100th movie thing is a marketing ploy. There is just no sensible way of counting Jackie’s movies, which do number well over 100, to arrive at this being his ’100th’ movie.
Having said that, it does look like it is going to be a good movie, and I for one can’t wait for it to be released.
I love it when Jackie makes movies that aren’t his typical formulaic action movies. I mean, this guy can actually act in more dramatic roles unlike other action stars. I know this may sound “blasphemous” but I kinda like him more than Pat Morita in that karate kid role:P
This movie sounds interesting. I will keep tuned.
I hope this is not the trailer used in China.. It is a Japanese trailer lol. They would be pissed.

I’m actually looking forward to seeing this movie I did a little research a while back about Sun-Yet sen and about this era in Chinese history so it would be interesting to see how they put it to the big screen.
Another cool thing is Jackie Chan’s son Jaycee Chan is also in this film. He’s done a number of films but i think this is the first where the father and son will be in one together
este filme já com estas cenas de luta já da a expressão que o filme será muito bom.
