2012 Emmy Nominations Announced

The 2012 Emmy nominations are here, and there are plenty of predictable results, a few pleasant surprises, and a slew of snubs (I hear you, Parks and Rec and Community fans, I hear you!).  I mentioned in my piece on underrated series and performances this year that there were plenty of shoo-ins from shows I shouldn’t even bother mentioning, most especially Justified and the aforementioned comedies.  Apparently I was dead wrong.  But there were a few nice additions, including Michelle Dockery for Downton Abbey(what’s with all of the Downton noms this year?  It had a lackluster second season aside from Dockery) as well as Christine Baranski for The Good Wife and Mark Margolis for Breaking Bad (ding ding ding!).  For the list of nominees, hit the jump.

The comedy category is all effed up!

  • AManWithAKilt

I wish “Louie” would get nominated for best comedy, at least Louie C.K. got best actor nom but I don’t really think he has a chance of winning :(. Great to see Dinklage and Game of Thrones up there, though.

    Veep?
What the hell is a Veep?

  • Vinícius

    For shame, Academy. FOR SHAME!!!

They have the boldness to nominate that clausterf**k of a show that is The Big Bang Theory (wich used to be boring and now is plain annoying) and not give a single nomination to the BRILLIANT Community.

And even tough I like Modern Family it’s kinda ridiculous that they have FOUR nominations to supporting actor. I mean, really, Jesse Tyler Fergunson is among the best?! He’s barely OK on the show. And that just hogs space that should be given to much better actors *cough*Danny Pudi*cough*

    • Vinícius

      (clusterf**k)*

    • Josh Kaye

You must be new here. Community seems to be a show that will never get a nomination in these categories. It’s really not that much of a surprise anymore.

  • Ben

Who the hell cares? You know these awards mean NOTHING when The Big Bang Theory is nominated and Parks and Rec isn’t.

  • J

Good to see Curb back nominated & LD Olof course. Season 8 was hilarious. Breaking Bad will win best drama, bitch !

As much as I love Breaking Bad, I really hope Homeland ends up winning some awards. It’s first season was just as good and tense as Breaking Bad.

  • AlexHeyNa

Big Bang Theory and 30 Rock will trump the comedy categories. And Breaking Bad and Boardwalk Empire will trump the drama categories.

The Academy has become so incredibly predictable nowadays, it’s sickening.

And how did The Walking Dead not get nominated for ANYTHING?

  • Joshua W

The only thing that made my jaw drop (in a good way) was seeing Bill Hader nominated! HOLY CRAP! I like Modern Family but really it’s a bit much putting every male on the show in the slot. I hope Hader wins but there’s a really slim chance of that happening. It’s going to be the Modern Family show… again. Also I dont care who wins variety as long as it’s not Daily Show. Every F**king year! Give Jimmy a bone.

  • JonCraft

whoa .. Community actually got a nomination this year? POP POP!

  • Mello Mastikan

Wow, no John Noble? Bullshit list!

  • Brian

Donde esta la Danny Pudi nomination?
I mean, I’m used to it now, and I’m ecstatic that Breaking Bad is up for so much, but I wish they’d acknowledge how great Community is.

  • Quadree

Why isn’t Newsroom up for best writing?!

  • Brian

The Newsroom just started, it wouldn’t be up for this year. I hope it gets nominated (and wins!) for next year’s ceremony.

  • Sugreev2001

For the first time,I literally agree with every nomination.

  • Albert

I know Kristen Wiig totally deserves that Emmy for outstanding supporting actress but I wanna see Sofia Vergara winning that award too. She’s been nominated for 3 years in a row and she makes a hilarious performance in MF. If it weren’t for her or Ty, it wouldn’t be as funny.

  • Strong Enough

    No Lost nominations? wtf?

  • Colin

No love for Andrew Scott in Sherlock?
