Sony Pictures has release four 22 Jump Street clips and nearly 15 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s highly anticipated comedy sequel.  Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill reprise their roles from the first movie as their undercover cop characters are tasked with infiltrating a college campus.  Normally this would be a prime example of mining familiar territory in order to take advantage of a popular property, but Lord and Miller are on a fantastic role (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie) and have a wonderfully inventive sensibility, so I’m inclined to think that we’re in for something really funny and self-aware with this follow-up.

Here’s the official synopsis for 22 Jump Street:

After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.
