The New Year is just around the corner which means TV’s mid-season premieres are inching closer as well. Since Outsourced took the much coveted spot following The Office at the beginning of the fall season this year, Parks & Recreation was left waiting for a mid-season return. Now NBC has announced the return of the mockumentary comedy series on Thursday, January 20th along with a whole new three-hour block of comedy on Thursday nights. This is about as close as we’re going to get to another “Must-See-TV” night from NBC even if one of the series has *ahem* outsourced their comedy from someplace completely lacking in genuine hilarity.
Hit the jump for NBC’s new Thursday night line-up in 2011.
Starting January 20th, here’s what your Thursday night comedy line-up will look like on NBC.
Community at 8/7c
Perfect Couples (New Series) at 8:30/7:30c
The Office at 9/8/c
Parks and Recreation at 9:30/8:30c
30 Rock at 10/9c
Outsourced at 10:30/9:30c
The schedule seems like a decent adjustment, but I’m wondering what will happen if Perfect Couples doesn’t work out after it premieres on January 20th. As for the later shift with 30 Rock, apparently some crew on the series are hoping it will allow them to get away with more. Script Coordinator Tom Ceraulo hoped out loud on his Twitter page that the 10/9c timeslot would mean more lenient standards and practices which would allow the writers to be more edgy, and possibly lean closer to a late night comedic vibe. Other good news for 30 Rock came in the form of NBC’s renewal of the series for a sixth season as announced via press release today too. But maybe the best news is pushing Outsourced all the way to the back of the line where it belongs. Hopefully it will get kicked out of the line-up after the first season concludes.
