7 Movie Clips from WORLD’S GREATEST DAD – Steve’s Favorite Film from this year’s Sundance

While I’ve posted a lot of movie clips from all the films that premiered at this year’s Sundance, what you’re about to watch are clips from my favorite film of the festival. Yes, writer/director Bobcat Goldthwait’s filmishead and shoulders above the rest.

One of the reasons I absolutely loved this movie is I knew nothing walking in. I’d heard from Devin at CHUD that it was great and I needed to see it, but all I knew was “World’s Greatest Dad” starred Robin Williams as a dad having problems with his son. That’s it. I didn’t know Bobcat directed it, and I didn’t know if it was a comedy or a drama.

And that’s one of the reasons why Sundance is so great. You see so many movies in such a short span of time that you often don’t plan for what ends up being your favorite film.

Since I really don’t want to ruin anything with a detailed synopsis, here’s a one very spoiler free sentence…A very black comedy about a high school poetry teacher who learns that the things you want most may not be the things that make you happy.

As of now I don’t know if it’s been bought for domestic distribution or when you’ll be able to see it….but if you want a taste, watch some of the clips. Again, cannot recommend this film enough. One of the funniest films I’ll probably see all year.
