Earlier this morning I posted a high resolution image from The Runaways. It was an image that had been previously released, but I figured some of you might not have seen it in high res. While I figured that would be it for The Runaways until this Sunday when I hopefully see the movie at Sundance, I was just provided eight new images from film and not only are most of them new…they’re all super high resolution. The Runaways follows two friends, Joan Jett (Kristen Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning), as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. They fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon), who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself-and so do its two leads: Joan is the band’s pure rock’ n’ roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten.
Apparition will open THE RUNAWAYS in over 1400 theaters on March 19. The music-fueled story of the ground-breaking, all girl, teenage rock band of the 1970s stars Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Danielle Riley Keough, Scout Taylor-Compton (TV’s “Arrested Development”), and Michael Shannon. The film marks the first theatrical collaboration between Apparition and River Road Entertainment. Executive Produced by Joan Jett and Produced by River Road and Linson Entertainment, THE RUNAWAYS will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival Sunday, January 24.

And I love the mullet now, freakin love it. Kristen is the ONLY teen girl in Hollywood who would chop her hair off into a jet black mullet, at the height of her fame, for an indie movie role. And that's why I love her!

Man…First of all, Ali Shawkat IS from Arrested Developement and she's the unnamed bassist. Scout is playin freakin Lita Ford! And nobody is givin her any love for that, its all about Stewart and Fanning. Much like art imitating life, no one gets their facts straight and are going for the exploitive plug for the two front woman's sexual tension, just like when the real Runaways started out.

The movie looks awesome! As one old enough to recall the Runaways it looks pretty persuasively realistic! And Joan Jett producing it; should be awesome even though I hear Lita Ford is less than thrilled. Lita was always a little antisocial; comes through in the documentary out on Netflix if anyone is interested until this new-”The Runaways” flick comes out. An aside: I can't believe how grown up Dakota Fanning is either! God I feel old now, she was the little kid in Man on Fire like Drew Barrymore was the little ET girl! Rock on.
