Broad Green Pictures has released a new trailer for director Ramin Bahrani’s (Chop Shop, Man Push Cart) dramatic thriller 99 Homes. Inspired by true events, the film stars Michael Shannon as Rick Carver, a greedy real estate mogul who makes big money serving eviction notices, removing people from their homes, and snatching up the property for a steal. Andrew Garfield plays Dennis Nash, an unemployed construction worker who experiences Carver’s harsh tactics first-hand when he’s forcibly evicted along with his mother (Laura Dern) and son.  When he sets out to confront Carver, he ends up employed by the businessman instead, facing the hard truth that it’s better to be predator than prey.

99 Homes is currently playing in select New York theaters and will expand to Los Angeles, San Francisco, D.C, Boston and Chicago this weekend before going nationwide on October 9th. The film also stars Laura Dern, Noah Lomax, Tim Guinee, J.D. Evermore, and Clancy Brown. Check out the new 99 Homes trailer below and check out Matt’s review here or Steve's interview with Garfield here.

Here’s the official 99 Homes synopsis:

In this timely thriller, when single father Dennis Nash (Golden Globe nominee Andrew Garfield) is evicted from his home, his only chance to win it back is to work for Rick Carver (Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon), the ruthless businessman who evicted him in the first place. It’s a deal with the devil that may save his family home, but as Nash falls deeper into Carver’s web, he finds his situation grows more brutal and dangerous than he ever imagined.
