If I had a say in the Best Picture race, my vote would go to Hugo. Though the The Tree of Life was just as gorgeous, and The Descendants matched the emotional satisfaction, no other nominee brought together all the cinematic elements with such exquisite skill. Paramount has released a new featurette that highlights all the work that went into crafting Hugo, discussing the importance of the story, sets, visual effects, score, makeup, costumes, lighting, and especially the historical inspiration in a brisk 6 minutes. The featurette is appropriately titled “The Magic of Hugo,” and features interview clips with director Martin Scorsese, his longtime editor Thelma Schoonmaker, screenwriter John Logan, producer Graham King, and star Ben Kingsley. For Daniel Radcliffe’s first major role since Harry Potter, he chose to star in The Woman in Black, a gothic horror tale based off of a 1983 novel by Susan Hill. Horror movies have been lucrative as of late (Insidious, Paranormal Activity 3, The Devil Inside) and legendary studio Hammer Film Productions is delving back into the sort of film that made them popular in the UK. On this side of the pond, however, Radcliffe’s name is sure to stir up more interest than the revival of an old horror studio. With that in mind, domestic distributor CBS Films has released a collection of behind-the-scenes featurettes and clips for The Woman in Black in an effort to showcase Radcliffe’s maturity as an actor. Directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake), The Woman in Black stars Radcliffe, Janet McTeer (Tideland) and Ciaran Hinds (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and opens February 3rd. Hit the jump to check out the featurettes, clips and a new poster.

With less than a month to go before directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance hits screens, a new behind-the-scenes featurette has been released. While Nicolas Cage remains the star of the film (upstaged only slightly by the flaming skull of Ghost Rider himself), directors Neveldine and Taylor are the focus in this short piece. Known for their insane camera work on films like Crank and Gamer, Neveldine/Taylor have only gotten crazier. The featurette spends as much time spotlighting the movie’s stuntwork professionals as it does the directors themselves.
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance also stars Idris Elba and Ciaran Hinds and opens February 17th. You can check out Steve’s set visit here. Hit the jump to check out the explosive featurette.

A new featurette for the sci-fi action flick Lock-Out (aka MS One) starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace. The film centers on a wrongly-accused spy (Pearce) who must rescue the President’s daughter (Grace) from an orbiting prison. We’ve already seen from the trailers that Pearce is going to play a wise-cracking badass and this new featurette is basically centered on that character. I’m not sure how the rest of the movie will be, but if it works, Pearce is going to be a large reason why.
Hit the jump to check out the featurette. Lock-Out/MS One opens April 20th.

Focus Features has released a new featurette for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. It’s mostly your standard EPK fluff where everyone talks about the greatness of the material and each other. However, it also provides some background on the setting, and Tinker Tailor is a movie where the more you understand the world, the better off you’ll be. The film throws a heap of characters and jargon at you and then jumps around timelines just to make the puzzle even more difficult to solve. It certainly deepens the mystery, but it’s not a good sign when I’m handed a pamphlet (click here to view the interactive version online) with a list explaining code names and terms. (I also spent the whole movie thinking “Karla” was a nickname for the Russians, but after the movie I found out it was a code name for the Soviet intelligence chief). The featurette also attempts to build awards buzz for Gary Oldman, but we’ll see if that pans out.
Hit the jump to check out the featurette. The film also stars Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch, Toby Jones, David Dencik, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Stephen Graham, Kathy Burke, and Ciarán Hinds. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy opens December 9th.

A featurette for the drama The Lucky One has gone online. It’s a bit odd, considering a trailer has yet to be unveiled, but the featurette itself plays like an extended trailer complete with talking head narration. The film is an adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name and stars Zac Efron as a Marine in the Iraq war who finds a photograph of a smiling woman buried in the sand in Iraq that brings him good luck. Once he returns stateside, he sets out to find the woman. Sparks and Efron appear in the featurette talking about the story and Sparks’ popularity among teenage girls readers nationwide.
As for the movie, it looks exactly like you’d expect. It’s sure become a staple of the “Favorite Movies” portion of Facebook pages for girls age 7-17, and that’s okay; these kinds of movies obviously have their audiences. Directed by Scott Hicks, the film also stars Taylor Schilling and Blythe Danner. Hit the jump to watch the featurette. The Lucky One opens April 20th, 2012.

A new featurette for the release of Titanic 3D has been unveiled. Whether you’re a fan of the movie or not, it’s obvious that James Cameron has put an insane amount of work into making sure the 3D re-release is well worth your money. Sadly, this featurette doesn’t give us a look into the actual post-conversion process, but we do get to see a number of pristine looking scenes from the film intercut with Cameron speaking about the film. He explains that before they began with the 3D they went back and cleaned up the picture, so even if you go to see it in 2D it should be pretty damn good-looking.
Steve caught 18 minutes of the 3D footage and he raved about it being the best post-conversion he’s ever seen. The third act of the pic is some of the most intense 40 minutes put to film, so I’m looking forward to having a panic attack while almost drowning in IMAX 3D. Hit the jump to watch the featurette. Titanic 3D opens April 6th, 2012.

Not long after the first trailer for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island hit the web, Warner Bros. has released a new featurette for the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth. Though Brendan Fraser will not be returning, Josh Hutcherson is, along with new cast members Dwayne Johnson, Luis Guzman, Vanessa Hudgens and Michael Caine. This featurette highlights some blurbs from the cast, including Johnson giving us a rule for the island (“That which is small becomes large, that which is large becomes small.”), Caine’s thoughts on 3D and Hudgens revealing the use of the Jules Verne submarine, the Nautilus. Hit the jump to check it out.

A new featurette for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows has gone online. The featurette gets into the plot a bit, which is good because I still have no idea what the film is about after two trailers. We also see some new footage, and more of Rachel McAdams‘ return. I love the cast and I love the idea of Sherlock Holmes going up against the formidable Moriarty, but I’m still a bit unsold on the film as a whole based on what we’ve seen so far. Granted, we’ve only seen roughly 5 minutes of smash-cut footage so we can’t really make a fair judgment just yet, but it looks like too much of the same which could lead to a sequel more along the lines of The Hangover 2 than The Dark Knight. Hopefully director Guy Ritchie has a few surprises up his sleeve.
Hit the jump to watch the featurette. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Jared Harris, and Noomi Rapace. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows opens December 16th.

Judging by the trailer and a new featurette for Brad Bird‘s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) running around the outside of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, is going to be almost as important as having a stylish hoodie. It certainly looks like Cruise did his own stunts, which raises two questions: 1) What insurance company would cover such a risky stunt? and 2) What if he had died? It would be a spectacular and silly death. Yes, he would have fallen off the world’s tallest building, but at the same time, people would wonder, “Why didn’t he just use a professional—and let’s be honest—expendable stuntman?” I guess the set piece just wouldn’t work if you had any doubt that Tom Cruise was risking his life to make an action movie.
Hit the jump to check out the featurette. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol opens in IMAX on December 16th and wide on December 21st.

Summit has released a new featurette for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. The featurette focuses on the wedding between Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson), and as Pattinson so eloquently puts it, “it’s a relatively momentous moment.” I’m sure Twilight fans will fawn over the wedding scene, and I’m always a fan of seeing an 18-year-old marry a 500-year-old vampire.
Hit the jump to check out the featurette. The film also stars Taylor Lautner, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, and Kellan Lutz. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 opens November 18th.

A new featurette for The Adventures of Tintin has gone online along with an interview with director Steven Spielberg and producer Peter Jackson. In the featurette, Spielberg explains how he was introduced to Tintin and he calls his movie “Unapologetic, shameless adventure,” as if there was anything to apologize for or be ashamed about adventure. But the best moment in the featurette by far is the screen test for Snowy (Tintin’s dog) that also allowed Jackson to come on and fake audition for the role of Captain Haddock even though the whole movie is motion capture (Andy Serkis plays the role in the movie). I saw the whole screen test at Comic-Con and it was one of the highlights of Hall H. Hopefully, they’ll include the full screen test on the Blu-ray.
Hit the jump to check out the featurette along with Spielberg and Jackson talking about they met, how they came to work together on Tintin, and how this movie was his first true collaboration. The Adventures of Tintin opens in 3D on December 21st.

Hot on the heels of the first TV spots for the film, a new featurette for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 has gone online. The featurette includes Kristen Stewart uncomfortably discussing aspects of the film like marriage and vampire babies. Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner also appear to discuss their characters as well, interspersed with some behind-the-scenes footage. The second half of the video is entirely made up of behind-the-scenes clips, like Lautner running shirtless in the rain (this guy really hates clothes). It’s nothing too mind-blowing, but odds are if you’re a fan of the series this featurette will pique your interest.
Hit the jump to watch the featurette. Directed by Bill Condon, the film also stars Anna Kendrick, Dakota Fanning, Ashley Greene, Michael Sheen and Kellan Lutz, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 opens on November 18th.

Earlier today, we reported that an unfinished cut of Martin Scorsese’s Hugo would be playing tonight at the New York Film Festival. Now a new featurette has gone online and it makes me more excited to see the film than the trailer. The visuals on display are fantastic and while I’m a little surprised that we’re getting two movies where a boy tries to unlock a mystery left by his deceased father, I’m betting Scorsese’s film will be the better one. In the featurette, the legendary director is genuinely excited (as always) for his first 3D movie and I’m hoping there will be some positive buzz coming out of tonight’s screening.
Hit the jump to check out the featurette. Hugo opens November 23rd and stars Chloe Moretz, Asa Butterfield, Jude Law, Ben Kingsley, Ray Winstone, Christopher Lee, and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Summit has sent over eight new character posters and a making-of featurette from director Paul W.S. Anderson’s take on The Three Musketeers. Starring Logan Lerman, Luke Evans, Ray Stevenson, Milla Jovovich, Orlando Bloom, Christoph Waltz, Matthew Macfayden and Mads Mikkelsen, the film looks pretty much exactly how you’d expect a Paul W.S. Anderson Musketeers movie to look. I’m no Musketeers enthusiast, so I’m really not offended by Anderson’s updating of the material. That doesn’t mean I want to see it either, though.
Check out the new hero/villain character posters and the “Making of a Musketeer” featurette after the jump. The Three Musketeers hits 3D theaters on October 21st.
