The first trailer for the Keanu Reeves-fronted thriller Exposed (previously titled Daughter of God) has hit the web and it’s absolutely packed with Keanu Reeves…investigating stuff. Exposed centers on Detective Scott Galban (Reeves), a man searching for the truth behind his partner’s murder while a young Latina woman (Ana De Armas) experiences strange visions after witnessing a miracle. These things are somehow connected. I think. It’s honestly not totally clear. Mira Sorvino also co-stars.
After working as a personal trainer on films like The Dark Knight and The Departed, Gee Malik Linton makes his directorial debut with Exposed. Linton also wrote the film and produced alongside Cassian Elwes, marking Elwes fourth collaboration with Reeves. The result looks to be a pretty generic crime thriller that sees Reeves essentially going through the motions while some variety of thriller-ish things happen around him. There are some interesting shots of De Armas’ visions that offer hope that there’s more than meets the eye on this one, but the bulk of the trailer is focused on boilerplate detective beats, shot in a dreary palate greys and blacks. Keanu blows out a candle at the end like it’s some sort of compelling, dramatic action. It’s not. Check it out for yourself in the trailer below.
Exposed doesn’t yet have a U.S. distributor or release date. Here’s the official logline:
After witnessing a miracle, a young Latina woman (de Armas) experiences strange things as a police detective (Reeves) searches for the truth behind his partner’s death.
