ABC Cancels LAST RESORT and 666 PARK AVENUE, Gives THE NEIGHBORS a Full-Season Order

ABC will let freshman dramas Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue finish out their 13-episode seasons before giving them the ax. The network recently picked up two additional scripts for each show, but decided to pass on a renewal due to underwhelming ratings. Co-creators Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and Karl Gajdusek spoke recently on the challenges of keeping the rogue submarine drama Last Resort afloat, but the network has torpedoed it. (Apologies for the nautical puns; I’m out of my depth.)

Fans of the show will be able to see the first season of Last Resort, starring Andre Braugher and Scott Speedman, air in its entirety in its original time slot of Thursdays at 8pm. Don’t feel too bad for Ryan, who has the Beverly Hills Cop series in development at CBS with Eddie Murphy and Brandon T. Jackson attached. Ryan also has a U.S. Marshal project underway at TNT. Hit the jump for more on the demise of 666 Park Avenue and the upcoming slate of new shows on ABC.

ABC Announces Fall 2012 Premiere Dates

by     Posted 1 year, 267 days ago

abc_logo_slice

ABC has finally put the finishing touches on their Fall 2012 lineup and announced premiere dates for new and returning series.  It seems like just yesterday we were saying our goodbyes to the network shows for the summer, with the intensity of Breaking Bad and the silliness of True Blood keeping us company until the fall season, but it’s about time to start looking to the Fall 2012 TV lineup.

Fan favorites like Modern Family, Revenge, and Once Upon a Time will premiere in the normal late-September slot, but we’ll have to wait until October for the return of Happy Endings and Suburgatory.  For my money, the most promising new show on ABC’s schedule is the Connie Britton-fronted drama Nashville, which premieres on October 10th.  Body of Proof, Wife Swap, and new shows Red Widow and Zero Hour are being held until midseason. Hit the jump to take a look at the full list of premiere dates.

This Fall, actor Terry O’Quinn of Lost returns to ABC in the supernatural thriller 666 Park Avenue, playing an agent of the devil who helps people fulfill their lifelong dreams with sometimes deadly consequences.  Based on Gabriella Pierce’s novel by the same name, the show also stars ABC regulars Vanessa Williams, Dave Annable and Rachael Taylor.  Creator David Wilcox is no stranger to supernatural series, having worked on Fringe and Life on Mars.

On the show, O’Quinn and Williams play the ultimate New York power couple, Gavin and Olivia Doran, who reside and own the historic 666 Park Avenue building.  Taylor and Annable play a young, unmarried couple who are hired to serve as resident managers, but it becomes apparent, early on, that the Dorans have other intentions for them.  This year marked the first time any of the cast had been to Comic-Con, and they were all excited to talk about their new show.  Check out what they had to say after the jump.

Comic-Con Pilot Previews: REVOLUTION, THE FOLLOWING, 666 PARK AVENUE, and CULT

comic con revolution following 666 park avenue cult

On Preview Night, Comic-Con screened five Warner Bros. Television pilots that will premiere in the upcoming television season: Revolution, The Following, 666 Park Avenue, Cult, and Arrow. Naturally, the disparate collection of shows is hit or miss. But overall, this was a solid package of genre TV to kick off Comic-Con. A couple of the shows exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely have to check in with most when they premiere in the fall (or midseason in the case of The Following).

I will be attending the Arrow screening and Q&A tomorrow at Ballroom 20, so I will hold my thoughts on that show for a future article. In the meantime, hit the jump for my brief thoughts on Revolution, The Following, 666 Park Avenue, and Cult.

Comic-Con has released the schedule for Preview Night on Wednesday, July 11th and the full schedule for Thursday, July 12th.  Preview Night won’t just have people trampling each other for Exhibitors Floor merchandise.  It will also have screenings of the pilots for Arrow, 666 Park Avenue, The Following, Revolution, and Cult.  As for Thursday, Comic-Con has wisely scheduled The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 as the first panel of the day in Hall H (although it doesn’t start until almost 1:00pm for some reason), so all the Twihards can get in, see the panel, and get on with their lives.  For the rest of the day, Hall H will play host to Frankenweenie, Oz the Great and Powerful, Wreck-It Ralph, Jackie Chan’s CZ12, The Expendables 2, and…not much else really.  No offense to Chan, but his directorial feature CZ12 is going to be packed only because Expendables 2 is coming afterwards.

On the TV side, there will be panels for returning series Psych, Wilfred, Archer, Nikita, Dexter, and Workaholics.  There will also be panels for new series Beauty and the Beast and Elementary.  Hit the jump for highlights from the Wednesday and Thursday schedules.  The 2012 San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 12 – 15th.

Comic-Con 2012 Hotel Keys Reveal New Looks at ARROW, REVOLUTION and 666 PARK AVENUE

by     Posted 1 year, 305 days ago

In keeping with the recent tradition of providing specially made hotel keycards to Comic-Con goers (I got Supernatural last year), Warner Bros. has unveiled their keycards for this year and they actually give us a few new looks at art for some anticipated new series.  The cards provide new art for The CW’s Green Arrow series Arrow, the new series Revolution executive produced by J.J. Abrams, and the new mystery show 666 Park Avenue starring a very creepy Terry O’Quinn.

The Arrow image is a variation of what we’ve seen before, but the ominous 666 Park Avenue card hints at something sinister in the new drama series and the card for Revolution is a nice play on the show’s plot which takes place in a future where all energy sources have been wiped out.  Hit the jump to take a look at the keycards and read the full press release, and click here to take a look at the TV panel lineup announced for Comic-Con 2012 thus far.
