Patrick Wilson Talks A GIFTED MAN and His Role in Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody’s YOUNG ADULT

A Gifted Man, premiering on CBS on September 23^rd, tells the story of a brilliant surgeon named Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), whose life changes forever when his deceased ex-wife, Anna (Jennifer Ehle), begins teaching him the meaning of life from the hereafter. Michael’s materialistic life of luxury is thanks to his work-obsessed career, and his powerful and wealthy patients. But, that world is rocked when the idealistic love of his life mysteriously appears to him, making him re-evaluate everything that separated them in the first place.

During a recent interview to promote the drama series, actor Patrick Wilson talked about deciding to do television so that he could play such a complicated and challenging role, how he’s getting skilled at the medical terminology, and how he’s enjoying the luxury of getting to go home from work and sleep in his own bed. He also talked about his role in the upcoming dramedy Young Adult, opposite Charlize Theron and directed by Jason Reitman. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

• CBS is adding the recognizable faces of Ashton Kutcher (Two and a Half Men), Ted Danson (CSI) and Terry O’Quinn (Hawaii Five-0) to some of the network’s most-established and most-popular series
• Two and a Half Men went into production on their new season this past Monday
• Ashton Kutcher will be playing broken-hearted Internet billionaire, Walden Schmidt, and his character will be introduced over a two-part story
• They’re hoping A Gifted Man, starring Patrick Wilson, will appeal to the fans of previous CBS shows, The Ghost Whisperer and Medium
• The highly acclaimed drama The Good Wife will return with the higher-profile time period of Sunday at 9 pm (on September 25^th) and a very interesting character transformation ahead for Alicia (Julianna Margulies)
• In a rather risky move, Rules of Engagement will be airing on Saturday nights
• Police drama The 2-2, a pilot for Rob Schneider and reality series Undercover Boss are all being planned for mid-season
• As of now, David Letterman and Craig Ferguson are still set in their late-night timeslots through 2012

CBS Release Featurettes for New Series Including PERSON OF INTEREST and More

Earlier today we got the first images and official series synopses for the new CBS series, and now the network has released the full length trailers for each show. After the jump you’ll find previews for J.J. Abrams’ new series Person of Interest (which I can’t wait to see), Unforgettable starring Poppy Montgomery, A Gifted Man starring Patrick Wilson, 2 Broke Girls starring Kat Dennings, and How to Be a Gentleman starring Kevin Dillon.

Person of Interest is by far my favorite out of the batch. After all, you can’t go wrong with Michael Emerson working on another J.J. Abrams series. Honestly, the rest of the series don’t really strike a chord with me, but CBS has never really been a network that’s had a lot of shows that have kept my interest with the exception of How I Met Your Mother. Maybe you’ll find something new you like after checking out the trailers after the jump.

CBS Announces 2011-2012 Schedule with First Images from PERSON OF INTEREST and More; Moves THE GOOD WIFE to Sunday, Renews HAWAII FIVE-0 and Others

Continuing our romp through upfronts this week, CBS has just unveiled their 2011-2012 schedule complete with their line-up of new series, and confirmed renewal of several of their running series. First up, series returning for another series will be The Big Bang Theory, Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, The Good Wife, Hawaii Five-0, How I Met Your Mothers, The Mentalist, Mike & Molly, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Rules of Engagement and Two and a Half Men (now with Ashton Kutcher). Some of these shows will be shuffled from their regular times, the most notable being The Good Wife moving to Sunday with Rules of Engagement taking a a timeslot on Saturday (which is just plain weird). That means that Chaos, the spin-off Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, The Defenders, Mad Love, Medium and $#*! My Dad Says will not be returning for another season. Surely fans of those series will be disappointed, but room must be made for the new series. Speaking of which, in addition to confirmation of their pick-up of J.J. Abrams’ new series Person of Interest (which I can’t wait to see), the network also snagged Unforgettable starring Poppy Montgomery, A Gifted Man starring Patrick Wilson, 2 Broke Girls starring Kat Dennings, and How to Be a Gentleman starring Kevin Dillon.
