An international trailer for American Reunion has gone online. The fourth entry in the American Pie franchise sees the return of basically every cast member from the first film as the characters come together for their high school reunion. This international trailer has a couple new scenes that we haven’t seen in the US trailers, and we also learn that in the UK the pic is called American Pie: Reunion (brand recognition!). I’m pretty excited for this fourquel as I was a fan of the first three films. The trailers evoke an odd sense of nostalgia and I’m intrigued to see how these characters reconcile the idea of “growing up.” Also, dick jokes.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, and Shannon Elizabeth. American Reunion opens April 6, 2012.

New Trailer for AMERICAN REUNION

Last month, Universal released a red-band teaser trailer for American Reunion, and once again showed that masturbation isn’t for everyone and certainly not for Jim Levenstein (Jason Biggs).  Now an all-audiences trailer has gone online and it looks like A) Seann William Scott will once again be the scene-stealer, and B) any jokes that aren’t R-rated are sitcom-level.  Even though I’m tired of the characters, I’m willing to give American Reunion a shot since writer-directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg earned my goodwill with the first two Harold & Kumar movies.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, and Shannon ElizabethAmerican Reunion opens April 6, 2012.

Red-Band Trailer for AMERICAN REUNION [Updated with Hi-Res Images]

The red-band trailer for American Reunion has gone online.  It serves as a helpful reminder that Jim (Jason Biggs) should never masturbate ever again.  He’s just not very good at it.  However, it does lead to a good gag involving a sock.  There’s not much else to say about the trailer since there’s no footage beyond the scene I mentioned.  It’s really more of an announcement that people in their 30s are making a teenage sex comedy.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, and Shannon Elizabeth. American Reunion opens April 6, 2012. [Update: We've added hi-res versions of the images we ran yesterday.]

The first images from American Reunion have been released. The fourth (real) installment in the American Pie franchise brings the entire gang back together for their high school reunion. The images basically give us a glimpse into how everyone looks eight years after American Wedding. An American Pie image gallery wouldn’t be complete without Stifler’s mom, so she’s there as well. The first trailer for the pic hits tomorrow, so we’ll get a better idea of the film then. If you haven’t seen the surprisingly affecting, nostalgia-inducing slideshow for the film, I encourage you to check it out.

Hit the jump to see the images, and be sure to check back here tomorrow for the full trailer. The film stars Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge and Shannon Elizabeth. American Reunion opens April 6, 2012.

Set photos from the upcoming non direct-to-DVD American Pie sequel, American Reunion, have gone online.  They’re not photos from filming, but simply the cast looking directly into the camera while on the set and showing us all what a grand time they’re having.  The photos also show that John Cho is returning, although I’m left to wonder if his role will be as minor as it was in the original movies.

Hit the jump to check out the set photos.  The film reunites Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Eugene Levy, and almost everyone else from the original movie.  American Reunion opens April 6, 2012.

The upcoming American Pie sequel American Reunion has been set for April 6, 2012.  The new film will center on the high school reunion of the main characters from the first film with Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, and Chris Klein all confirmed to return.  Negotiations are currently ongoing with Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, and Jennifer Coolidge.  Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) will write and direct with filming set to begin next month.

There’s currently no other film set for release on April 6, 2012.  American Reunion is the first theatrically-released film in the franchise to not get a summer release date. [ComingSoon]

Alyson Hannigan Confirmed for AMERICAN REUNION

It looks like the upcoming American Pie sequel American Reunion may be a proper reunion after all. After some concern over whether or not the actress would sign on, Alyson Hannigan is set to reprise her role in the film alongside fellow original cast members Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott and Eugene Levy. Negotiations are also underway for Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, and Jennifer Coolidge to return as well. Deadline reports that Hannigan’s neogtiations took a while because she has a bit of leverage given that the plot of Reunion revolves around her marriage and child with Biggs’ character.

The franchise has been lingering in direct-to-DVD spinoffs ever since 2003’s American Wedding, but it appears the original cast is now up for one more go-around. Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) are on board to write and direct the fourth installment of the franchise. Filming is set to begin next month. HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Season 5 DVD Review

For a show that was at one point “on the bubble” as to whether or not it would get renewed, it’s pretty remarkable how large the fanbase for How I Met Your Mother has grown over the last few years. Timed with the sixth season’s premiere on television, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has released the complete fifth season on a three-disc DVD set with a few noteworthy bonus features. Although not every episode of season five reached the high standards set by the best of seasons past, it was still another impressive run of episodes backed by the series’ signature writing and solid performances. HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Season Six Premiere Review

I liked it well enough, but the fifth season of How I Met Your Mother faced accusations of a decline in quality in some critical circles.  Creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, refreshingly, kept their fingers out of their ears.  They acknowledged the show is better served when they don’t hit the reset button at the close of each segment, and keep their eyes to the end of the series.

Nice thought, but the step between the promise and the execution is a difficult one.  My review of “Big Days,” the first episode of season six, after the jump.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER SEASON 4 Blu Ray review

How I Met Your Mother cast image - slice.jpg

So here we are, four seasons in, and we still don’t know who the mother is. But does that really matter? No. As longtime viewers of the show are aware, “who” the mother turns out to be isn’t really what the show is about – it’s just one of the many devices that this fantastic sitcom uses to separate itself from the myriad of other bland, scripted, comedy fare we see on TV today. Rather, this show is all about the journey. Find out how the latest season of this journey stacks up, after the jump.
