Just yesterday we sheared a couple new images from The Amazing Spider-Man that gave us a nice look at villain The Lizard courtesy of some scans from the latest issue of EW. Now EW has released a batch of official images online, including a few new ones showcasing Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker and Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacey getting all cuddly. Also included is a nice behind-the-scenes shot of Garfield and Stone hooked up to a wire rig while Garfield shows off his super romantic swinging skills.

If you needed an additional excuse to go see Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin in Men in Black 3 this weekend, how about this one: you’ll also see a six-minute preview of The Amazing Spider-Man. Theater-goers who attend Thursday’s midnight showings of Men in Black 3D in IMAX will also get a sneak peek of one of the most anticipated movies of the summer. Perhaps the trailers, clips, featurettes, images, posters, viral videos and interviews weren’t enough for you; maybe even this four-minute extended trailer hasn’t satiated your appetite. If that’s the case, go buy your tickets for the midnight showing of MiB3 and get set to enjoy six minutes of Spidey!
Oh yeah, there’s also the third installment in the Men in Black franchise to enjoy. Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, Men in Black 3 also stars Emma Thompson, Jemaine Clement, Alice Eve, and Nicole Scherzinger. A day after the 4-minute “super preview” for The Amazing Spider-Man showcased the film’s explosive, high-flying spectacle, we’re being treated to something a bit more intimate. Director Marc Webb, relating his Sony NEX camera-sponsored ”makedotbelieve story,” gives us a little insight into his filmmaking process—the importance of protecting your core notion of what this film is, allowing for inspiration, what it’s like watching words on a page come to life. There’s also plenty of behind-the-scenes footage of Webb interacting with his cast and crew.

Since then, it’s been a firm #3 on my list of the year’s need-to-see superhero flicks (prove me wrong, Dredd). The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field. It opens in 3D on July 3rd.

Two new posters for director Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man have gone online. Last night we got a look at an extended 4-minute trailer for the film, and I have to admit that the opening scene definitely got me; I think Brendan summed up Andrew Garfield’s performance perfectly when he called the actor “soulful.” These new posters are pretty nifty as well, with one highlighting Spidey’s view from on high and another sporting the film’s unofficial tagline, “The Untold Story Begins.”

Sony premiered a 4-minute “super preview” for The Amazing Spider-Man tonight during America’s Got Talent. For those of you wondering, a super preview is about 90 seconds of one extended (and cut-down) action set piece, followed by two-and-a-half minutes of trailer (this trailer, pretty much). Thankfully, the scene in question is absolutely justifies the super preview treatment. I love that the sequence, in which the Lizard (played by Rhys Ifans) knocks several cars off a bridge, is uniquely Spider-Man rather than something you could insert into any superhero movie. Not just in the way Spidey snatches every car from the water below with his web shooters, but also the way Peter Parker (played by the soulful Andrew Garfield) can relate to the young kid he saves thanks to his relative youth among the premier comic book heroes.
Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field also star in The Amazing Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb for a July 3 release. Watch the super preview after the jump.

As part of the ongoing viral campaign for The Amazing Spider-Man, two new clips have surfaced: one features Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors recruiting interns for Oscorp Industries while the other is a behind-the-scenes with Ifans and director Marc Webb. The second video might interest fans a bit more since the duo talk about Doc Connors/The Lizard and even show some nice shots of Ifans’ Jekyll and Hyde transformation. Expect much more from The Amazing Spider-Man over the next couple of months, like this recent pic Tweeted by Webb. Ah, the digital age. Suddenly a director of a major superhero movie joining Twitter is newsworthy. Marc Webb, the man behind this summer’s The Amazing Spider-Man, has not only started up a Twitter account, but his first Tweet is a pretty cool image of Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker striking a pose high above the ground. It’s a nice image, and it’s obvious that this isn’t an official still but is probably from Webb’s personal collection of photos. Hopefully this is the first of many intimate looks behind-the-scenes of the shoot, as I think it’s nice to sometimes get a peek at the actors from a big blockbuster in candid shots before all that color-correction and gloss.

Three international character posters have gone online for The Amazing Spider-Man. If you needed a reminder of what Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield), Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), and Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard (Rhys Ifans) looked like, then these are the posters for you.

The inception of The Amazing Spider-Man is a curious story. Director Sam Raimi was already heavy into development on Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire returning as Spidey and John Malkovich poised to play the film’s villain, Vulture. Apparently Raimi and Sony didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye on where the fourth Spider-Man should go, and the director wasn’t particularly confident that he could turn out a quality movie in time to make the Summer 2011 release date. Moreover, Raimi was allegedly still sour about being forced to include Venom in Spider-Man 3, so he wasn’t exactly eager to bend to the studio’s will.
An abrupt announcement was made that Spider-Man 4 was dead, Raimi and Maguire were out, and a reboot was slated for a Summer 2012 release date. Well, we’re now on the cusp of Summer 2012 and the release of The Amazing Spider-Man is a few short months away. Maguire recently sat down to interview the new Spidey, Andrew Garfield, and some interesting/fun tidbits were gleaned from the conversation. Hit the jump for more.

Last week, Sony Pictures released a new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, and now the studio has released a new TV spot for the superhero reboot. There’s a few bits of new footage in the TV spot, but the big reveal is for a 4-minute “super preview”, which will premiere on Monday with the season premiere of America’s Got Talent. All of the contestants will pale in comparison when compared to a guy who invented web-shooters and saves New York Cities. But, you know, juggling is cool too.

A new trailer for director Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man has gone online. Compared to the first trailer, we get a much better idea of what the plot/driving force for Peter Parker entails, there’s quite a bit more action, and we get some great looks at The Lizard. Given that the release is a couple of months away, we’re finally starting to see some of the finished visual effects shots come in, and they actually look kind of great. The webslinging has an edge to it and The Lizard has much more texture. I like Andrew Garfield a whole lot, and the biggest draw for me here is the character work between Garfield and Emma Stone. They look to have some great chemistry and Garfield brings out a dickish side of Peter Parker that we didn’t really see in Sam Raimi‘s trilogy. Overall, I’m pretty encouraged by this new clip and I’m hoping the full film delivers.

The superheroic summer season kickstarts with The Avengers this weekend, but other heroes are vying for attention. The Dark Knight Rises put a bat-dent in The Avengers headlines by dropping an incredible trailer late last night and now The Amazing Spider-Man is hoping to snare some looks with two new posters. We’ve recently posted clips, an international trailer, other posters and a couple sets of new images, but these new posters have an additional wrinkle: they both feature a suited-up Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) with extensive battle damage to his costume. I wonder who could have done that…
Director Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man also stars Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen and Sally Field and opens July 3rd. Hit the jump to check out the new posters.

Two new images from The Amazing Spider-Man have gone online. Star Andrew Garfield looks pretty beat up in one of the pics, and the other shows Spidey in a very tight situation. They’re nothing groundbreaking, but it’s nice to see something about a superhero movie that doesn’t have The Avengers in its title. We recently learned that Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers) have been tapped to rewrite the screenplay for a follow-up to The Amazing Spider-Man, so I guess we can look forward to a very action-heavy sequel.

When Sony took the stage at CinemaCon 2012 yesterday afternoon in Las Vegas, they had a short one hour window to show off their various upcoming movies. As we sat in the darkened theater waiting for the presentation to begin, we debated how could they have the stars and filmmakers talk about their movies and also show off tons of footage. But rather than follow the typical studio roadmap, Sony decided to just show a non-stop sizzle reel sans movie stars that included the world premiere of Skyfall footage (a teaser trailer) and tons of new footage from all their 2012 films included The Amazing Spider-Man, Total Recall, Looper, Resident Evil: Retribution, Hope Springs, Premium Rush, Hotel Transylvania, Sparkle, That’s My Boy, and Men in Black 3.
