SE7EN Scribe Andrew Kevin Walker Boards David Fincher’s 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA

With the release of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo now merely a month away, all eyes on what project David Fincher will choose next. His Curious Case of Benjamin Button scribe Eric Roth is currently in talks to rewrite the epic Cleopatra, a project that Fincher is circling, but now another Fincher alumnus is boarding one of his next possible projects. Deadline reports that Se7en scribe Andrew Kevin Walker is set to work on the script for Fincher’s remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The previous draft was written by Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum), but it appears that Fincher’s looking to tweak the project a bit more.

The director has previously mentioned that his version of the Jules Verne adventure classic will be in 3D, and will probably be 70% CG. Disney is producing Leagues, but I’m wondering how dark Fincher plans to skew the material, especially given the addition of Walker. The director has still yet to choose his Dragon Tattoo follow-up, but if he takes a liking to Walker’s rewrite then Leagues is a serious contender. Personally, the thought of Fincher and Walker taking on a high seas adventure sounds absolutely fantastic.

Eli Roth and Eric Newman Reunite for PSYCHO KILLER

Eli Roth and Eric Newman teamed up as the creators of this August’s The Last Exorcism, and are getting together once again to produce the suspense thriller Psycho Thriller. Gavin Polone (producer of Zombieland) is set to direct, while Andrew Kevin Walker (Seven) penned the script. THE WOLFMAN Review

The remake of The Wolfman isn’t so much a throwback to the classic horror icon as much as it turns the Universal movie monster into an action star.  For a movie that’s been sewn together from different directors, different cuts, and even different scores, The Wolfman manages to come out as a good film despite its scattered tone, limited characterization, and over-reliance on gore.  The Wolfman shouldn’t work as a movie but somehow it succeeds not only as a fun action flick, but as seductive eye candy with thoughtful subtext about sexual repression and an exploration of mercy killing as monstrous.

From SEVEN to THE REINCARNATION OF PETER PROUD – David Fincher and Andrew Kevin Walker Reunite

Can two former collaborators once again create the movie magic where a film builds to a point of having Brad Pitt cry, “What’s in the box?!  What’s in the fucking box?!” I think “Seven” is a highly entertaining film but what will director David Fincher and screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker create 15 years later?  It looks like we’re going to find out.  The two have re-teamed to adapt the supernatural thriller “The Reincarnation of Peter Proud”.  Hit the jump for more details.
