From writer/director Nick Willing (Alice, Tin Man), Neverland – premiering on SyFy on December 4^th and 5^th – is an original prequel story to author J.M. Barrie’s classic Peter Pan. In 19^th Century London, Peter (Charlie Rowe) and his young pickpocket pals are sent out by their mentor Jimmy Hook (Rhys Ifans) to steal a magical orb, which inadvertently transports them all to another world, called Neverland. This mysterious realm includes the power-mad Elizabeth Bonny (Anna Friel) and her band of 18^th Century pirates, trapped and in search of the secret to the tree spirits’ magical mineral dust, in order to have the power to fly. As the fight to protect and save this strange and beautiful world escalates, Peter and his crew must face harsh realities, as they learn that never growing up might be preferable to growing up like the corrupt Hook.

During a recent interview to promote the SyFy debut of Neverland, co-stars Rhys Ifans and Anna Friel talked about how they came to be playing such captivating characters, how thrilling it was to be a part of this new backstory, showing the evolution of the Peter and Hook relationship, and what they enjoy most about working in the fantasy genre. New Trailer and Images for British TV Movie NEVERLAND

Though we’ve seen several iterations of the Peter Pan tale from Disney’s animated adventure to the Steven Spielberg’s sequel story Hook, audiences never seem to tire of the boy who doesn’t want to grow up. Well Sky Movies over in the United Kingdom is delivering Neverland, yet another take on the story, but this version follows the never-before-told story of how Peter Pan became the Boy Who Never Grew Up. The cast includes Rhys Ifans (who’s playing the villain in The Amazing Spider-Man) Anna Friel from Pushing Daisies, Charlie Rowe as Peter, Keira Knightley as the voice of Tinkerbell and Bob Hoskins playing Smee (just like he did in Hook). Unless you’re in the UK with a subscription to Sky Movies this July, you might be waiting a while to check this one out, but you can see the cool trailer after the jump along with some new images from the film.

Keira Knightley to Voice Tinker Bell in NEVERLAND

Keira Knightley will provide the voice of Tinker Bell in Sky Movies HD and Syfy’s Live-Action Peter Pan prequel, Neverland.  Knightley joins Rhys Ifans, Anna Friel, Bob Hoskins, Charles Dance, and Charlie Rowe in the two-part movie, which is scheduled to air this summer.  The prequel re-imagines Peter Pan and his Lost Boys as a group of pickpockets who are transported to Neverland by a magical orb.  It’s the second Peter Pan prequel we’ve heard of in recent weeks, joining Pan, which will star Channing Tatum and was picked up by Sony Pictures.

With director Neil Burger’s Limitless opening March 18, Relativity Media has sent over nine clips which you can watch after the jump.  Starring Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish, Anna Friel and Robert De Niro, Limitless has a very cool premise: what if a drug allowed you to use 100% of your brain.  You could “recall everything you’ve ever read, seen or heard, learn any language in a day, comprehend complex equations and charm anyone you meet.”  Sounds cool doesn’t it.  The fact is, with advances in pharmaceuticals happening every day, the premise for Limitless might not be too far off.  Maybe we’ll never get to 100%, but I’ll bet you that in the next few decades, scientists will invent some sort of pill that makes you smarter.

Relativity Media has provided us with an exclusive  TV spot for Limitless.  Directed by Neil Burger (The Illusionist), the plot centers on a struggling writer (Bradley Cooper) whose mental and physical abilities are greatly enhanced when he starts taking a new drug.

UK Poster for LIMITLESS

As most folks take the day off to celebrate our nation’s Presidents (because I’m sure that’s how people are spending their free time: celebrating US Presidents), it’s a bit of a slow news day.  With that in mind, we bring you the UK poster for Limitless.  Even on a slow news day, I would usually skip over this, but the poster makes Bradley Cooper look so creepy that I had to share it with you.  It’s like the folks who designed this poster said, “We can’t find an image of Bradley Cooper and photoshop is broken.  I know!  There’s a new Bradley Cooper wax statue at the local wax figure museum!  Let’s go borrow it!  Chip-chip!  Cheeri-o!” (It’s a British poster and I’m 99% certain that’s how all British people end their conversations and this poster could have only been made by Brits because — 0h, no — I’ve run out of crappy-logic juice).

New Images and Clip from Sky Movies HD’s NEVERLAND

Sky Movies Premiere HD just sent over a clip and as well as a few images from their new film Neverland.  Featuring a solid cast that includes Rhys Ifans (upcoming Spider-Man reboot), Golden Globe-nominee Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies), Oscar-nominee Bob Hoskins (1986′s Mona Lisa), and Charlie Rowe (Never Let Me Go), Neverland is described as a “bold new take” on J.M. Barrie’s famous Peter Pan tale.  Nick Willing (Syfy’s Alice mini-series) pulls double duty, writing and directing the film.

Trailer and Poster for LIMITLESS Starring Bradley Cooper

Relativity Media has released the trailer and poster for Limitless (previously titled “The Dark Fields“).  The film centers on a struggling writer (Bradley Cooper) who takes a special drug that allows him to utilize his entire mental capacity.  Setting aside the fact that your brain doesn’t work on capacity but instead handles various functions, the film looks like it could be an interesting thriller…or a complete garbage.  While I liked Cooper back when he was on Alias, I don’t know if he can carry film.  Also, I’m not crazy about rooting for a protagonist whose “perfect” life is simply being disgustingly rich.  Hopefully director Neil Burger (The Illusionist) can pull it all together, although this is his first feature where he didn’t also write the screenplay. The script was penned by Leslie Dixon (Pay It Forward) based on the book by Alan Glynn.

Exclusive Interview with Writer/Director William Monahan for LONDON BOULEVARD

March, 2009. That’s the first time I started talking with William Monahan about doing an interview for his directorial debut London Boulevard.  At the time, he was in prep in London, and we talked about why he wanted to adapt Ken Bruen’s novel and what the experience was like for him.  But for many reasons, the interview fell apart, and we decided to continue talking at a later point.  Of course later became a few months, and then we started and stopped a few more times.  Until last week.  That’s because about a week ago, at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, I finally sat down with the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of The Departed to talk about his directorial debut, which stars Colin Farrell, Keira Knightley, Anna Friel, Jamie Bower, David Thewlis, Ray Winstone, Stephen Graham, Eddie Marsan, and Ben Chaplin. The film is about a man just released from prison (Farrell) who falls in love with a reclusive young movie star (Knightley) and finds himself in a duel with a vicious gangster (Winstone).

During our extended interview, which lasted close to an hour, we covered everything from the genesis of the project to what it was like in the editing room.  Of course we also covered things like his writing process, why it is coming out in the UK before America (it gets released November 26 in the UK), the test screening process, why the British gangster genre is so popular, his other projects like The Gamblers, Becket, what’s up with Tripoli, what got him involved in Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion, and so much more.

While I hate to compare interviews against one another, I can honestly say this is one of the best conversations I’ve ever had with any filmmaker.  Hit the jump to check it out:

Exclusive: Sergio Pizzorno Scoring William Monahan’s LONDON BOULEVARD; UK Release November 26, February in America

While information regarding William Monahan’s London Boulevard (his directorial debut) has been sparse, I can report Monahan is done with the film and we’re very close to getting some new images and a trailer.

If you’re not familiar with London Boulevard, it’s about a man newly released from prison who falls in love with a reclusive young movie star and finds himself in a duel with a vicious gangster (synopsis via IMDb).  The film stars Keira Knightley, Colin Farrell, Jamie Campbell Bower, Stephen Graham, Anna Friel, David Thewlis, Ray Winstone, and Eddie Marsan.

Even though I can’t offer any new images today (hopefully soon), I can report Sergio Pizzorno (from the band Kasabian) has done the original score and the film will be released in the UK on November 26 and in the US in February.  London Boulevard will be the first offering from Graham King and Bob Berney’s new distribution company, FilmDistrict.  More after the jump.

On-Set Photos and a Clip from Woody Allen’s YOU WILL MEET A TALL DARK STRANGER

There hasn’t been a year without a Woody Allen movie in theaters since 1981 (seriously), and this year’s is the Cannes-bound You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger.  Allocine has several on-set photos and a clip in which we see cast members Naomi Watts and Antonio Banderas try their hand at Allen’s stuttering dialogue.  The impressive lineup also includes Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Freida Pinto, and Anna Friel in the story of “different members of a family, their tangled love lives, and their attempts to try and solve their problems.”

As the logline isn’t too helpful, you’ll find Watts’s comments alongside the photos and the clip after the break.

Anna Friel Picnics With Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro in DARK FIELDS

If you hail from the U.S., you may best know British actress Anna Friel best as the female lead in Land of the Lost, though ideally you identify her as Chuck from the precious (but short-lived) Pushing Daisies.  Either way, as she has just landed a high profile role in Dark Fields that may supplant both of the aforementioned roles in our collective Yankee consciousness.

According to THR, Friel will join Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, and Abbie Cornish for the Neil Burger-directed thriller about a “down-and-out writer (Cooper) who gets his hands on a top-secret pharmaceutical drug that makes one smarter.”  Mystery and intrigue with a sci-fi twist ensue.  Friel will play the plucky ex-wife of Cooper’s character.

Perhaps you won’t need to wait for Fields to come out to overwrite the memory of Friel: Land of the Lost-Edition.  She will next be seen in Woody Allen’s You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger this September and earned a role in London Boulevard, the directorial debut of screenwriter William Monahan (The Departed).

LAND OF THE LOST Review

I don’t blame Universal for trying to sell “Land of the Lost” as a family film.  This is a big-budget summer movie based on a campy 70s TV show and so you’re going to highlight the T-Rex and maybe Will Ferrell dumping a vat of dinosaur urine over his head.  What you won’t highlight is a scene where Ferrell’s character whispers to Cha-Ka the ape-boy, “Fuck you.”  It’s clear that this movie was conceived of as a subversive, R-rated comedy and Universal said, “Are you bugfuck insane?  We’re not spending a hundred million dollars on that!” The compromise is a film that you’re not expecting even if you can totally predict its lead actor.

Opening tomorrow is director Brad Silberling’s “Land of the Lost”. So to help promote the film, I recently interviewed Anna Friel as a reporter for our partner website Omelete. As most of you already know, Collider and Omelete are partners. That’s why you see both of our logos in the movie clips and video interviews.

Anna Friel talks LONDON BOULEVARD and THE DETAILS

Opening this Friday is director Brad Silberling’s “Land of the Lost”. The film is based on the classic series by Sid & Marty Krofft and it stars Will Ferrell as Dr. Rick Marshall. Danny McBride, Anna Friel, and Jorma Taccone also star.

So to help promote the film, I recently interviewed Anna Friel as a reporter for our partner website Omelete. As most of you know, Collider and Omelete are partners. That’s why you see both of our logos in our movie clips and video interviews.

Anyway, in the next day or two I’ll have the full interview online, but here’s what Anna said about her next two film projects.
