One of the greatest (and versatile) actors actors today is receiving a much-deserved retrospective. Focus Features is hosting a three-night series honoring the work of Gary Oldman with screenings of The Contender, Dracula, JFK, Prick Up Your Ears, and Sid and Nancy, culminating in a showing of this year’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The Tinker Tailor screening will be followed by a live Q&A with the actor, hosted by KCRW’s Matt Holzman. Oldman’s a great talent and I’m immensely jealous of those able to attend. I’d love to see what Oldman has to say not only about his work in Sid and Nancy and JFK, but other films like The Fifth Element and True Romance.

The first screening will be held on Monday, January 9th at the ArcLight Hollywood, with the other screenings set to follow on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tickets are free, but you must RSVP through OldmanRSVP.com. Oldman’s work in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is picking up a good amount of Oscar buzz, and he’ll be seen next year in The Wettest County and The Dark Knight Rises. Arclight Hollywood Lands One Night Only EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Screening with Harrison Ford Q&A!

While I ridicule George Lucas and Lucasfilm for the way they’ve murdered something I truly loved my entire life (the Star Wars movies), I can’t be anything but positive over the announcement that Lucasfilm is doing a special one-night-only charity screening of The Empire Strikes Back on May 19 at the Arclight in Hollywood with Harrison Ford doing an on-stage Q&A!  The Arclight screening will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

While many actors in the Star Wars universe have talked about their experiences making the films countless times at conventions and to the press, Harrison Ford is not one of them.  In fact, the guy doesn’t do much press to begin with, so to hear him reminisce about one of my favorite movies, let’s just say I hope I get a ticket!  Hit the jump for more:

TRANSFORMERS REVENGE OF THE FALLEN Sells Out All 15 Screens at the Arclight in Hollywood for Midnight Show

TRANSFORMERS REVENGE OF THE FALLEN Sells Out All 15 Screens at the Arclight .JPGWe all knew Michael Bay’s “Giant F*ucking Robots” movie was going to open big, I don’t think too many people expected a 60 million dollar opening day. While reviews on TF2 are mixed, this thing is going to break 200 million by Sunday night. Wow. Say what you want about Michael Bay, he can definitely open a movie.

Anyway, here in Los Angeles we have the best movie theater I’ve ever been to. It’s called the Arclight and it’s in Hollywood. While they’ve done plenty of midnight shows for every major Hollywood release, “Transformers Revenge of the Fallen” is the first time in its history that the midnight show sold out all 15 screens. I don’t know when this photo is going to be repeated.
