With a little over a month away until the release of Gore Verbinski‘s The Lone Ranger, Disney has a released a new trailer. The story focuses on John Reid (Armie Hammer) surviving an attack, being saved by Native American warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp), and the two teaming up to fight injustice. The new trailer speeds through the premise to get to the set pieces, and while I want to be excited for this movie, I just keep seeing Wild Wild West. There’s hardly any of the humor that made Verbinski’s Pirates of the Caribbean movies so enjoyable, or the strangeness that brought Rango to life. Then again, if Disney wants to leave the best stuff out of the trailer, that’s fine by me. I’d like to be surprised.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film also stars Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter. The Lone Ranger opens July 3rd.

New posters have been released from The Lone Ranger, Red 2, Star Trek Into Darkness, and I, Frankenstein. Briefly, The Lone Ranger international poster has the Lone Ranger in danger of falling into Helena Bonham Carter‘s cleavage, the gang is all there in the Red 2 poster, the Enterprise is still seriously screwed in the latest poster for Star Trek Into Darkness, and then there’s the first poster for I, Frankenstein. It’s a “motion poster”, but it will be holographic when you see it at your local theater. It doesn’t have a close-up of Aaron Eckhart as the monster, but at a distance, he’s the most handsome iteration of the creature to date.
Hit the jump to check out the posters. The Lone Ranger opens on July 3rd. Red 2 opens July 19th. Star Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D on Wednesday and in 2D and 3D on Thursday. I, Frankenstein opens in 3D on January 24th. [Update: The Star Trek Into Darkness poster was not approved by the studio, and we have removed it at their request.]

A new Russian trailer for director Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger has made its way online. The film focuses on the origin of Armie Hammer’s titular ranger and his relationship with the rather peculiar Tonto, played by Johnny Depp. Much like the most recent domestic trailer, this Russian trailer highlights the film’s epic scale and Verbinski’s intricate set pieces, though it’s tough to parse out exactly what’s going on plotwise unless you speak Russian. Also, you’ll learn that Helena Bonahm Carter’s character has something rather unique hidden up her skirt.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer, and if you missed any of Steve’s interviews from CinemaCon, watch his video conversations with Hammer, Verbinski, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The Lone Ranger opens on July 3rd.

When last we talked about Guy Ritchie’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. adaptation, Tom Cruise was set to star as one half of the agents of the United Network Command for Law Enforcement. It looks like Armie Hammer (The Social Network) will be playing the other half. The original 1960s series starred Robert Vaughan and David McCallum as Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, two agents who fought against the evil organization known as T.H.R.U.S.H. using only their wits and specialized weapons and gadgets. It looks like Cruise will be playing Solo while Hammer takes on Kuryakin. Hit the jump for more.

Earlier today at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Walt Disney unveiled about twenty minutes of director Gore Verbinski‘s The Lone Ranger. Since I was on the red carpet waiting for the cast and filmmakers, I missed the screening. But talking to a few people that did see the footage, the consensus I heard was that it looked great and it was a lot better than all of them expected. If you want to judge some of the movie for yourself…watch the brand new trailer that was released earlier today.
Shortly after walking off the stage, I landed a red carpet interview with Armie Hammer. We talked about what he went through trying to land the role, how much the script changed along the way and the supernatural/werewolves rumors, filming the train sequence practically, how he can’t escape being asked about Justice League, and he reveals that he’s about to sign a contract for a new movie role. Disney has released a new trailer for director Gore Verbinski‘s upcoming film The Lone Ranger. This lengthy theatrical trailer begins by focusing on the origin of Armie Hammer‘s titular ranger and how his partnership with Johnny Depp‘s Tonto was forged, and from there we get quite a few looks at the many characters and set pieces that make up the action/adventure pic. There are more than a few similarities to be found between this and Verbinski’s Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, as this trailer showcases a massive scale, a kooky Depp performance, plenty of dirty, nefarious characters, and a possible supernatural element. The visuals here look gorgeous, and while I’m not sold on Depp’s performance or even necessarily the story, I’m still eager to see what Verbinski has cooked up on a very big screen when this thing hits theaters.
Hit the jump to watch the new trailer. The film also stars Tom Wilkinson, Ruth Wilson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, and Helena Bonham Carter. The Lone Ranger opens on July 3rd.

In anticipation of the coming trailer, Disney has released a couple of new posters and a few new images from Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski’s upcoming big-budget take on The Lone Ranger. The film takes a Western approach to the classic television series with Armie Hammer (The Social Network) assuming the role of the titular hero and Johnny Depp inhabiting his trusty sidekick Tonto. These images highlight Verbinski’s massive scope for the film as well as his knack for visuals while the posters give us close-up looks at the pic’s stars (ie. Johnny Depp wearing a dead bird as a hat)
Hit the jump to take a look at the new posters and images, and check back here on Collider on April 17th to check out the new trailer. The film also stars Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter. The Lone Ranger opens on July 3rd.

A third new trailer for Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger, starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, is now online. The international trailer comes with Japanese narration, but the action transcends any language barriers. Focusing on stunt sequences, explosive pyrotechnics and even some hidden-weapon gadgetry from star Helena Bonham Carter, the new trailer is short on dialogue, but certainly delivers on the excitement.
Also starring Tom Wilkinson, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, William Fichtner and Ruth Wilson, The Lone Ranger rides into stateside theaters July 3rd. Hit the jump to watch the new trailer.

Every year, Jimmy Kimmel Live follows the Oscars with a star-studded sketch. Last year, audiences were treated to a trailer for Movie: The Movie, which featured dozens of movie stars parodying every film genre and cliché. Naturally, every hit needs a sequel, and JKL has delivered with Movie: The Movie 2V. I’ll let you be the judge between which trailer is better, but I would say the sequel surpasses the original when it comes to the obligatory Matt Damon joke.

This weekend, we’ve been showing you toys from Toy Fair 2013 including action figures for Thor: The Dark World, Iron Man 3, and more. It’s all about the merchandising, and if you’re going to get reasonably-priced action figures, you can’t do much better than NECA. The toymaker has released images for some of their big 2013 toys with a look at their figures for The Lone Ranger and Kick-Ass 2. The figures look good, but they also provide our first look at Kick-Ass 2‘s villain, “The Motherfucker” (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), formerly Red Mist. It’s a wild costume, I’m curious to see what it looks like in real life.
Hit the jump to check out the toys. The Lone Ranger opens July 3rd. Kick-Ass 2 opens June 28th.

Super Bowl XLVII is nearly upon us, and even though my beloved Falcons aren’t playing (10 yards shy of victory!), it will still be worth watching for both the football (Go Niners!) and for the ads (Go consumer culture!). Studios will be showing ads for their biggest movies, and yesterday Disney showed off a teaser for their Oz the Great and Powerful ad. Today, Disney has released a brief teaser for the Super Bowl spot for The Lone Ranger. What’s weird about the teaser is that to watch the whole thing, you have to tune into the pre-show, and that’s never going to happen. Adtime during gametime is running between $3.7 million and $3.8 million, so I can’t help but wonder if Disney is trying to save money by running their Lone Ranger ad before the game. That seems like a wasted half-measure because the pre-game show lasts about 39 hours. It would be better to air the ad during Puppy Bowl.
Hit the jump to check out the Super Bowl teaser along with a new poster. The film stars Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter. The Lone Ranger opens July 3rd.

A new trailer for director Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Rangerhas been released. This new trailer finally takes a little bit of focus off of Johnny Depp‘s Tonto and places it on the eponymous character (Armie Hammer). We learn a little bit of the hero’s back story, and that Silver is a very odd horse. I’m not sure if I’ll ever get used to Tonto’s fractured dialogue or Bojan Bazelli‘s washed-out cinematography, but Verbinski’s earned my trust, so I’ll keep hoping that this movie delivers.

The first trailer for director Gore Verbinski’s (the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy) The Lone Ranger has been released. Though the film features what are likely a couple of showy performances from Johnny Depp (Tonto) and The Social Network‘s Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger himself), this trailer is mostly about trains. Matt made a similar comment regarding the footage shown at Comic-Con, so it’s safe to assume that the mode of transportation plays a large role in the film. Verbinski appears to have put together one hell of a pretty-lookin’ movie, but we don’t see or hear enough of Depp’s Tonto to judge whether he’s veered too far over the top or hit that Jack Sparrow sweet spot. I’m encouraged by Verbinski’s talent and the impressive line of actors in the ensemble (including trailer-narrator Tom Wilkinson as the villain), so hopefully we’re in for a big, fun Western adventure.

After squinting at set photos and videos over the past couple of months, we got a fresh batch of official images from director Gore Verbinski’s (the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy) The Lone Ranger yesterday. Now a few more images have surfaced, giving us further looks at stars Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in the adventure pic. While yesterday’s images were more atmospheric in nature, this batch gives us a closer look at a couple of action sequences. Verbinski crafted three thrilling adventure epics with his Pirates films, and I’m looking forward to seeing what his $250 million Western has in store for us. With two sets of images having been released in two days, I wouldn’t be surprised if a teaser trailer of some sort was right around the corner.
Hit the jump to check out the images. The film also stars Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter. The Lone Ranger opens July 3, 2013.
[Update: The first teaser poster has now been released and is included after the jump as well. The film's trailer debuts tomorrow morning at 10am EST so be sure to check back here on Collider to see the first footage.]

After 150 days, filming has wrapped on Gore Verbinski‘s The Lone Ranger. It hasn’t been an easy production, which was delayed due to budget concerns. THR reports that once shooting finally began, the production was beset by dust and wind storms, the on-set death of a welder, and Johnny Depp sustaining an injury, all of which reportedly caused the budget to balloon back to the $250 million (or more) Disney wanted to avoid. While studios are doing their best to try and be more careful with what they spend, Verbinski’s blockbusters have never been cheap, although I’m not sure why a western would cost so much even with the delays (the original budget was $215 million).
Hit the jump to check out new images from the movie along with some quotes from Verbinski. The film also stars Armie Hammer, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter. The Lone Ranger opens July 3, 2013.
