Trailer for BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY Game of the Year Edition; Harley Quinn Story DLC Officially Announced

by     Posted 2 years, 242 days ago

Batman: Arkham City was one of my favorite games last year (the only two I liked more were Portal 2 and Bastion), but I was a bit let down by the DLC.  The combat is fun, but I didn’t have much interest in playing arena levels with Robin or Nightwing.  It’s one of those things where you can master it and move up a leaderboard, but at the end of the day, you’ve just put a lot of work into becoming good at a video game.  However, if you’ve been holding off on pulling the trigger for the original game, the upcoming “Game of the Year” Edition will include all of the DLC released thus far along with the new “Harley Quinn’s Revenge” story DLC, which had been recently teased by the Arkham City twitter feed.  I love Harley, and after having played the hero with Batman, the mostly heroic Catwoman, I’m eager to play a straight-up villain.

If you already own Arkham City, “Harley Quinn’s Revenge” will be available for purchase on April 30th.  Batman: Arkham City “Game of the Year” edition will hit Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 29th.  Hit the jump to check out the trailer.

Final Trailer for BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY

by     Posted 3 years, 69 days ago

I’m counting down the hours until Batman: Arkham City is released (as of this posting, it’s 84).  I’ve been anticipating the game since the moment I finished Batman: Arkham Asylum, and judging by the reviews (which I take with a grain of salt, although I’d like to believe them) it’s been worth the wait.  We’ve received trailers for almost every major villain in the game, but with the game only days away, a final trailer has gone online and it’s the best one yet.  The teaser trailer focused on Dr. Hugo Strange, the man ostensibly in charge of the entire prison district although various street gangs vie for control.  We’ve now come back to the bad doctor and his continued fascination with the Dark Knight.  Everything is on display here, from the action to the gadgets to the landscape and hopefully to the quality story (the one aspect that has caused me serious concern despite Paul Dini’s involvement).  I’ve had high expectations for Arkham City from day one and these trailers have only served to make them higher to the point where they may be unreachable.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  Batman: Arkham City hits Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 18th.

The Joker Trailer for BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY

by     Posted 3 years, 91 days ago

We’ve seen Batman: Arkham City villain trailers featuring Catwoman, The Riddler, The Penguin, and Mr. Freeze but with less than a month to go until the game’s release, it’s time to give a trailer to Bats’ biggest bad, The Joker.  The Joker was running the show in Batman: Arkham Asylum but from what we know so far, it looks like Dr. Hugo Strange is in charge of Arkham City.  The new video game is packed to the gills with Batman’s foes (in addition to the aforementioned rogues, there’s also Harley Quinn, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Calendar Man, Victor Zsasz, Talia al Ghul, Solomon Grundy, and Deadshot), but I refuse to believe that developer Rocksteady would make Joker just another baddie.

We’ll all find out when Batman: Arkham City is released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 18th.  Hit the jump to check out the new trailer.

Mr. Freeze Trailer for BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY; Plus Gameplay Impressions

by     Posted 3 years, 129 days ago

Too many villains can’t bring down a movie, but it can work perfectly for a sprawling video game like Batman: Arkham City.  We’ve already seen trailers for Catwoman (more of anti-hero but whatever) and The Riddler plus we know that Two-Face, Hugo Strange, Harley Quinn, and Joker are back (there was also a trailer for The Penguin which we didn’t post but you can check out here).  Now the folks at WB Games and Rocksteady have released a new trailer showing that Mr. Freeze is in the mix.  We’re a little over two months away from the game’s release and I’m wondering what other villains will be in store.  My bet is we’ll be seeing the Scarecrow again and the teaser trailer hinted that Black Mask will be around as well.

Hit the jump to check out the new trailer along with my impressions of the game from the brief demo I played at Comic-Con.  Batman: Arkham City hits Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Games for Windows on October 18th.

Five Panels I’m Looking Forward to in Hall H and Five Panels Outside of Hall H I Wish I Could Attend

by     Posted 3 years, 155 days ago

There’s plenty of good stuff to see at this year’s Comic-Con.  There’s too much good stuff.  You could clone yourself seven times and you and your many selves still probably couldn’t see everything worth seeing.   I am without a cloning machine (damn you, lazy scientists) and I will be covering only Hall H this year.  After the jump, I’ve listed the five panels I’m most interested in seeing in Hall H as well as the five panels I wish I could attend outside of Comic-Con’s biggest room.

Comic-Con 2011 Collectible Swag Bags Revealed; Will Double as Backpacks

by     Posted 3 years, 163 days ago

Warner Bros. Studios is having a very busy week, but not so busy as to forget a little thing called Comic-Con 2011. Warner Bros. Entertainment will once again be teaming up with the con to sponsor the “Comic-Con International: San Diego Official Bag.” The more than 130,000 bags (available to badge-holders upon check in) will feature official Comic-Con art on one side and one of 10 franchises in the WB/DC universe on the other. Featured titles include Batman: Arkham City, ThunderCats and Fringe. Hit the jump to check them out!

To prevent your arms from getting tired from hauling all your swag around, this year the bags will turn you into a walking advertisement double as backpacks! Personally, I’m willing to stab a guy in the eye for a ThunderCats bag. Knowing my luck, I’ll get The Vampire Diaries. If you guys hear about some black market bag trading going on, be sure to let me know.

Riddler Trailer for BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY

by     Posted 3 years, 164 days ago

A new trailer for Batman: Arkham City has gone online.  In this new trailer, Riddler gets the spotlight as the teaser tries to hint at how his presence will be different this time around.  In Arkham Asylum, you merely had to collect his trophies or spend half an hour trying to get the camera angle just right so you could view a giant question mark.  This trailer hints that in Arkham City it won’t be enough to simply find clues, but that digital lives are at stake.  Presumably, the Riddler will still be relegated to side-mission status, but we’ll find out for sure when Batman: Arkham City hits Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 18th.

Comic-Con 2011: Schedules Announced for Preview Night and Thursday, July 21st; Includes BREAKING DAWN, DRIVE, and GAME OF THRONES

by     Posted 3 years, 168 days ago

Comic-Con has announced the schedule for Preview Night (Wednesday, July 20th) and the Thursday that officially opens the Con.  While Preview Night is usually a chance for attendees to roam the floor of the exhibitors and trample each other for swag, this year’s preview night will be hosting world premiere pilot screenings of Alcatraz, Person of Interest, The Secret Circle, and Supernatural: The Anime Series.  I don’t care about the last two, but since Alcatraz and Person of Interest both come form J.J. Abrams, I imagine they’ll be packed.

As for Thursday, Hall H belongs to (in chronological order): The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, Arthur Christmas, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, Drive, an unannounced line-up from 20th Century Fox (expect Rise of the Planet of the Apes), a sneak peek at Robert Rodriguez’ upcoming films (yawn), and a discussion between Guillermo del Toro and Jon Favreau.  I would stand in line all day just for Drive and the conversation between del Toro and Favreau.  Hit the jump for the full schedule.  Expect the schedule for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday over the next several days.

E3 2011: Trailers and Gameplay Walkthroughs for BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY, MODERN WARFARE 3, GEARS OF WAR 3, HALO 4, STAR WARS, and More

by     Posted 3 years, 199 days ago

With E3 2011 kicking off today at the Los Angeles Convention Center, many of the video game industry’s most anticipated titles have released new footage to reassure people like me that many of their release dates cannot get here soon enough (well, except for maybe all of the new Kinect titles…I don’t mind waiting around to not play those). Varying from debut trailers to gameplay walkthroughs/demos, after the jump you can find a roundup of some of the latest footage from games such as Batman: Arkham City, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Halo 4 and the anniversary Halo: Combat Evolved, Star Wars Kinect and Star Wars: The Old Republic, Mass Effect 3, and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

New Trailer for BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY; Catwoman to Be Playable Character

by     Posted 3 years, 204 days ago

Rocksteady, the company behind this year’s highly anticipated sequel Batman: Arkham City, has revealed that Catwoman will be a playable character within the single player campaign.  In Batman: Arkham Asylum, PlayStation 3 owners could play as the Joker, but only inside the challenge rooms.  In Arkham City, Batman defends, but Catwoman has the freedom to slink in the shadows and she also has her own set of combat moves and gadgetry.

The new trailer showcases some of her moves (Catwoman at least has the courtesy to give a kiss before executing a bodyslam), and while the voice acting seems a bit hit and miss and the trailer itself could stand to linger a little less on her ass, I’m still happy that Catwoman will get to be a playable character.  Hit the jump to check out the trailer and an interview with Rocksteady’s Dax Ginn about Catwoman’s role in the game.  Batman: Arkham City will be released on October 18th.

First Gameplay Trailer for BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY

by     Posted 3 years, 282 days ago

The first trailer composed of gameplay footage from Batman: Arkham City has gone online and all I can say is, “Wow.”  Not only do we get our first look at Two-Face and some of Bats’ new thug-stomping tricks, we also get to see Batman fly.  I know it’s technically not flying and that he’s “gliding”, but whatever.  That dude is guiding himself through the air without touching the ground.  It’s flying and it looks incredible.

Hit the jump to check out the sweet new trailer.  Batman: Arkham City hits Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 18th.  It’s going to be a long wait.

BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY Set for October 18th; New Images Released

by     Posted 3 years, 286 days ago

It feels like an eternity until May 17th when Rockstar releases L.A. Noire, which looks like a brilliant mash-up between Grand Theft Auto and L.A. Confidential.  But even when May 17th comes and goes, there will be a new eternity in place: the wait until Batman: Arkham City.  The game is set for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 18th so mark your calendars.

We’ve also been sent three new images from the game, because the wait isn’t painful enough already.  Hit the jump to check out the images.

Four New Screenshots from BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY

by     Posted 3 years, 309 days ago

We usually don’t cover video games at Collider, but we’re excited out of our minds for Batman: Arkham City, the follow-up to the stellar 2009 game Batman: Arkham Asylum.  The sequel takes the action to the streets of Gotham where former Arkham warden Quincy Sharp has now become mayor and designated a section of the city as an even larger prison.  Game Director Sefton Hill recently told IGN that the game will have no multiplayer because they wanted to focus all of their attention on the single-player experience.  I am totally down with that.  I would far prefer an excellent, solo-player game than a disappointing re-tread coupled with uninspired multiplayer (I’m looking at you, Bioshock 2).

We’ve been sent four new screenshots from the game.  Hit the jump to check them out.  Batman: Arkham City is set to be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC this fall.

This past weekend, we posted the new trailer for the video game Batman: Arkham City.  For those who don’t know, Arkham City is a sequel to the excellent 2009 game Batman: Arkham Asylum.  This time around, Quincy Sharp (the warden from Asylum) is now the mayor of Gotham City and has created “Arkham City”, award where crime is allowed.  Batman keeps watch over Arkham City as he suspects it will get out of hand.  Batman comes to this conclusion by using his well-honed common sense.

Two new images from the game have been released.  One image shows Bats taking down some of The Joker’s thugs while the other takes a look at new villain Dr. Hugo Strange.  Hit the jump to check out the images.  Batman: Arkham City is due out in fall 2011.

New Trailers for BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY, UNCHARTED 3, MASS EFFECT 3, Guillermo Del Toro’s INSANE, and More

by     Posted 4 years, 10 days ago

Last night was the Video Game Awards and with the ceremony came the debut of trailers for some of the hottest upcoming video games.  Among the new trailers, I was most excited to see a new sneak peek at Batman: Arkham City, the sequel to the incredible Batman: Arkham Asylum.  The trailer didn’t really show any new gameplay, but it did introduce us to one of the game’s main villains, Dr. Hugo Strange (who might also be a villain in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises).  There were also cool trailers for Mass Effect 3, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Resistance 3, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Portal 2, Prototype 2, SSX: Deadly Decents, Forza Motorsport 4, Mortal Kombat, and Thor: God of Thunder.  There was also a teaser trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming horror game, Insane, which unfortunately isn’t due out until 2013.

Hit the jump to check out all the trailers.
