Based on Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s acclaimed novel, the TNT drama series Monday Mornings, from award-winning producer David E. Kelley, follows the lives of doctors at Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon, as they push the limits of their abilities and confront their personal and professional failings. The title refers to the hospital’s weekly morbidity and mortality conference, when doctors gather with their peers for a confidential review of complications and errors in patient care. The show stars Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao and Emily Swallow.

During this exclusive interview with Collider, actor Jamie Bamber talked about how he came to be a part of the show, how working with David E. Kelley is in a whole other league, whether the medical jargon gets any easier to say, what it’s like to shoot the big meeting scenes, and which character relationships he finds the most fun to play. He also talked about what led him to acting, and how satisfied he was personally with how Battlestar Galactica ended. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Collider: How did you come to this show?

JAMIE BAMBER: It was an audition. I got sent the script. I came back from doing Law & Order UK and immediately did a pilot (17th Precinct) for my great friend Ron Moore, which sadly wasn’t picked up. It was the old team from Battlestar Galactica. It was one of those avenues that didn’t work out, but we still ...

What a curiosity is Blood and Chrome, the red-headed stepchild of the Battlestar Galactica universe. Initially intended as a more “action-packed” series following the cerebral Caprica, it failed to impress the brass at Syfy, and ended up as an online release before a perfunctory screening as a stand-along movie. Now that it’s out on Blu-ray, its odd (and frankly justified) status can be viewed at leisure. Hit the jump for the full review.

It’s clear early on that the producers hoped to up the action factor. We pick up in the middle of the first Cylon War, as intelligent machines rebel against their former masters on the Twelve Colonies and an endless battle of extermination follows. Young Viper pilot William Adama (Luke Pasqualino) – who may have a future in the Colonial Fleet – finds himself assigned to the Battlestar Galactica. He’s eager to prove himself and soon gets his chance with a super-secret mission behind enemy lines… one full of treachery, hidden agendas and even a burgeoning romance.

Blood and Chrome sets up the scenario in spectacular fashion, only to lose it all amid easy clichés and stereotyping. We know what kind of man Adama becomes, but we see none of that in his thinly veiled Top Gun incarnation here. There’s no sense of tragedy to him, no chip on his shoulder that drives him on. He’s just a hotshot, something that may have been beaten out of him had the series been picked up, but which shows no sign of development ...

Over the past seventeen years, Bryan Singer been able to jump from genre to genre with great results. While he’s previously made superhero movies (X-Men, Superman Returns), thrillers (The Usual Suspects, Apt Pupil), and a film about trying to assassinate Hitler during WWII (Valkyrie), in his upcoming Warner Bros. fantasy Jack the Giant Slayer, he’s tackling a classic children’s fairy tale with a modern twist. As usual, he's delivered a fun ride that audiences will love.

Recently I landed an exclusive phone interview with Singer. We talked about making the film, the CGI and 3D, his thoughts on 48fps, how they rewrote the whole film during pre-production, Twitter, X-Men: Days of Future Past, his Battlestar Galactica remake, and so much more. Hit the jump for what he had to say.

In addition, I visited the set of Jack the Giant Slayer and while there participated in an in depth group interview with Singer. For more on the making of the film, read that interview here.

Collider: What the hell has the last few days been like for you doing all the press?

BRYAN SINGER: It put me a little under the weather. I did 80, eight-zero, TV interviews yesterday. That’s a record for me.

What’s it like being asked the same six questions again and again?

SINGER: Its maddening…it’s harder on camera because you just feel like you want to give a good answer. You feel weird repeating yourself, repeating the same phrases over and over again so you try to say the same answer differently and then every once and ...

The final two installments of the Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome prequel series have arrived (you can also catch up on Episodes 7 and 8 right here). Blood and Chrome follows the pre-BSG exploits of Commander William Adama and takes places during the first Cylon war. The series picks up ten years into the war effort, where the young and cocksure Adama (Luke Pasqualino), call-sign Husker, gets thrown into a covert op during his first “milk run.” Joining him is his surly and war-weary co-pilot Coker (Ben Cotton) as well as Dr. Kelly (Lili Bordan), who draws the others into her work on a secret mission which turns deadly, fast. Hit the jump to watch the finale episodes and read a brief spoiler-free summary of the action.

Episode 9 picks up with the ragtag group finishing off the remaining Centurions, and has Dr. Kelly discussing the true nature of her mission. Also, an important Cylon development is revealed.

The final two episodes have been combined together, which makes for better drama and sustained continuity. I have to say, though I was skeptical for much of the first part of the series, Blood and Chrome really came together in the end with some great, classic Battlestar elements and a number of trademark surprises and switcheroos (and callbacks).

The series ends on a rather bleak note about the disillusionment with the war effort and those force to fight what seems to be a losing battle, but the final scenes showed a lot of promise for The Rise of Adama, and a continuing ...

It's Friday, which means the two latest installments of the Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome prequel series have arrived (you can also catch up on Episodes 5 and 6. Hit the jump to watch latest episodes and read a brief spoiler-free summary of the action.

The theme of war-weary disillusionment continues to dominate conversations, as well it should since it seems the war effort and propaganda is (shock!) largely a lie. But in Episodes 7 and 8, our ragtag band of warriors finally find some shelter on the Hoth-like planet in a (presumably) abandoned Cylon facility.

As some of the crew members grow closer and others reveal hidden talents (which reminded me of a certain Starbuck storyline, but maybe that's just a red herring), a few Cylons (who don't look like any other canon Centurions, but do resemble Crow T. Robot on steroids) return to try and eradicate the trespassers.

Click here for all the previous installments.

The two latest installments of the Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome prequel series have arrived (you can also catch up on Episodes 3 and 4). Blood and Chrome follows the pre-BSG exploits of Commander William Adama and takes places during the first Cylon war. The series picks up ten years into the war effort, where the young and cocksure Adama (Luke Pasqualino), call-sign Husker, gets thrown into a covert op during his first “milk run.” Joining him is his surly and war-weary co-pilot Coker (Ben Cotton) as well as a Dr. Kelly (Lili Bordan), who draws the others into her work on a secret mission. Hit the jump to watch latest episodes and read a brief spoiler-free summary of the action.

Episodes 5 and 6 have really raised the bar, and I'll admit I'm really starting to get invested. The first slice this week drops us right back into the center of battle (which is a little disconcerting, gathering ones bearings among all of the shaky cams, whip pans and explosions) but also includes a classic Battlestar moment that champions the greater good. Meanwhile, our ragtag trio find themselves potentially stranded on a remote and hostile planet that (naturally) includes a few twists.

Once Episode 6 gets going, the series finally quiets back down and starts injecting some of the original Battlestar's humor, and starts to give a better sense of the main characters (Coker has the worst luck, for a start). There's also the introduction of a potential animal / machine ...

The two latest installments of the Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome prequel series have arrived (you can also catch up on the first two here). Blood and Chrome follows the pre-BSG exploits of Commander Adama (a sort of "Portrait of the Commander as a Young Man" if you will) and takes places during the first Cylon war. The series picks up ten years into the war effort, where the young and cocksure Adama (Luke Pasqualino), call-sign Husker, gets thrown into a covert op during his first "milk run." Joining him is his surly and war-weary co-pilot Coker (Ben Cotton) as well as a Dr. Kelly (Lili Bordan), who draws the others into her work on a secret mission. Hit the jump to watch the episodes.

The choppy nature of the webisode format (remember that Blood and Chrome was conceived of as a two-hour pilot, so there are not natural breaks in the story) makes it difficult to get drawn into the action, especially with characters we do not yet know well. Still, this should smooth out as the episodes continue, and in Episode 4 we start to get introduced to a few more characters (and interesting technology) as well as the covert mission to help flesh out the world a bit more. Hopefully, too, Husker will start to become more of his own man and not just a Starbuck 2.0 (or Starbuck 1.0? Or …) Meanwhile, the next set of episodes seem primed for more toaster action.

Episode 3:

Executive produced by David Eick, the first two chapters of Blood & Chrome have premiered on the YouTube channel, Machinima Prime, with new episodes being added each week, until November 30th. This highly anticipated chapter in the Battlestar Galactica saga takes place in the midst of the first Cylon war, as the battle between humans and the robotic Cylons rages across the 12 colonial worlds. Gifted fighter pilot, William Adama (Luke Pasqualino), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful battlestars in the Colonial fleet – the Galactica – but he quickly finds himself at odds with his co-pilot, Coker (Ben Cotton). Once those 10 episodes have all been made available, a two-hour movie will air on Syfy, sometime in the first quarter of 2013, with a release on DVD/Blu-ray on sale on February 19th.

During this recent interview about the unique new project, executive producer David Eick talked about how this was always intended as an online project, planning out the entire story arc, having future ideas already developed for further episodes, what it’s like to produce a series like this for the web, why Battlestar Galactica/Caprica executive producer Ronald D. Moore is not involved this time, how big of a role the Cylons will play, and the relationship between Adama and Coker, while actor Luke Pasqualino talked about how grateful he is for this opportunity, his auditioning process for the role, and finding the emotional core of his performance while being surrounded by virtual sets and green screen. ...

The road to Blood and Chrome, the Battlestar Galactica prequel (and technically Caprica sequel), has been a long one for fans and the series itself. Originally pitched as a full series to run on Syfy, it wavered in limbo for awhile until the network decided to run it as an online series broken up into ten, 7-12 minute episodes to be released starting today on Machinima Prime's YouTube channel (though it will also air as a movie on Syfy in 2013).

The idea that Syfy, the channel that brought you Sharktopus and Ice Spiders would turn down a series, and not just any series but a prequel to its frak'n most successful and critically-acclaimed series of all time, makes one truly stop and wonder: is Blood and Chrome even worth watching? Most purist fans agree that the original series' follow-up film The Plan as well as the prequel series Caprica can be filed under "take it or leave it" category, yet we Battlestar fans are also pretty much suckers for anything BSG-related. Hit the jump for the synopsis and first two webisodes of Blood and Chrome, as well as my review. So say we all …

Blood and Chrome takes place during the first Cylon War and focuses on a young William Adama (played by Luke Pasqualino, from the UK series Skins), who goes by the call sign "Husker" (laughs for days). Adam is assigned to the Galactica, where he meets a surly, drunk co-pilot, Office Coker (Ben Cotton) and a breasty software engineer Dr. Beka Kelly (Lili Bordain).

I hate to already start comparing Blood and Chrome's characters to BSG, but Coker immediately gives off Colonel Tigh vibes, whereas young ...

It looks as if the long-awaited Battlestar Galactica prequel Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome is finally getting released. The series takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war and centers on a young William Adama (Luke Pasqualino) as he’s assigned to one of the most powerful Battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. The show was commissioned following the immense critical success of the Battlestar Galactica series, but word on the show was nearly dead until Syfy announced earlier this year that they would not be picking the show up to series.

There’s a silver lining, though, as the pilot will be broken up into ten 7-12 minute episodes that will be released online starting this week. The full two-hour version will then air on Syfy early next year, followed by the release of an unrated version on Blu-ray/DVD. Hit the jump for more, including a new trailer.

News of this new release strategy comes via EW, who reports that the first episode of Blood & Chrome will debut on Machinima this coming Friday. The remaining episodes will be released over the next four weeks. This isn’t exactly the ideal scenario for the prequel as I would’ve loved to see the first Cylon war play out over a series, but at least we’ll get to see the pilot/TV movie.

Watch the new trailer below, and catch the first episode on Machinima on November 9th. So say we all.

It’s a roller coaster ride of emotions for Battlestar Galactica fans today. Earlier we saw a truly fantastic trailer for the long-in-the-works prequel series Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome cut to Karen O’s cover of “Immigrant Song” that was so expertly used in the Dragon Tattoo trailer. Fans have been waiting in vain for some kind of sign that the series still exists since the two-hour pilot was greenlit in 2010. Soon after the wave of excitement over the trailer peaked, Syfy decided to crush our dreams and announce that they won’t be moving forward with the series after all. Hit the jump for more.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place during the 10th year of the first Cylon war and centers on a young William Adama (played by Luke Pasqualino). The show was initially envisioned as a web series and Syfy greenlighted the two-hour TV pilot in late 2010. The project hasn’t exactly been sitting on the shelf since then, as the network didn’t receive the finished pilot until last November due to a lengthy, visual effects-laden post-production process. Now that the network has gotten a look at the pilot, Deadline reports that they’ve decided to pass on the project as a regular series. There is light at the end of the tunnel, however, as Syfy apparently hopes to move forward with the show as a digital web series (as was the original intention). Syfy president of original programming Mark Stern had this to say:
“Though the vision for “Battlestar ...

More goodness is still coming out of WonderCon along with our great interviews as the first trailer for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome premiered at the pop culture convention and has now made its way online. The 2-hour pilot from SyFy looks to be pretty impressive and takes a cue from the trailers for David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for its fast-paced, music driven tease.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robotic Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a young, talented fighter pilot, William Adama (Luke Pasqualino), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful Battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and in pursuit of the intense action that the Cylon war promises, Adama quickly find himself at odds with Coker (Ben Cotton), the battle-weary officer to whom he reports. With 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle just as much as Adama craves the start of it. Though they clash at first, the two men forge an unlikely bond when a routine mission turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal one for the desperate fleet. Watch the impressive trailer after the jump!

Since most Collider readers won't have the opportunity to attend this years WonderCon in Anaheim, California, I decided to do the next best thing: take a ton of pictures from the convention floor. While WonderCon is still a small convention when compared to its sibling Comic-Con, I love being able to walk the floor with ease and I also cherish the abundance of indie dealers that haven't (yet) been pushed out by Hollywood and the huge corporations. However, if you like getting all the free swag that's in abundance in San Diego every summer, WonderCon is not for you. But if you love geek culture and live near Disneyland, I definitely suggest attending tomorrow or Sunday.

Hit the jump for all the images including posters for Total Recall, The Amazing Spider-Man, Game of Thrones, Resident Evil 5, an original King Kong poster that's being sold for ten thousand dollars, replica costumes from Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek and The Avengers, replicas lightsabers, Before Watchmen stuff, and a ton of random cool stuff. Also, if you missed the cosplay images or all the new Dark Knight Rises merchandise, just click the links. Finally, check back all weekend for more WonderCon coverage from the panels and tons of interviews.

College Humor has posted a new video that uses the four seasons of the new Battlestar Galactica as a framework for a 16-bit RPG. The clip has fun with a few of the sticking points of the show: Baltar's questionable decision-making, the reliance on political debates due to a basic cable budget, and especially the writers' willingess to forget plotlines. But they kid because they love. This was clearly the work of devoted fans, and the result is wicked funny. Heck, it's worth watching for the 16-bit version of Bear McCreary's score alone. Check it out after the jump.

Beware of spoilers if you haven't seen the entire series. This does give away a few big reveals. Via College Humor:

Screenwriter John Orloff (Anonymous) has been hired to write the screenplay for Bryan Singer's new adaptation of Battlestar Galactica. The new adaptation won't have anything to do with the excellent TV reboot, so it will be a new take on mediocre 1970s TV series. Both series focused on a war between men and sentient machines, but thematically and narratively they went in vastly different directions. There are currently no details on what Singer plans to do with his movie. The 2003 series took the premise of the original series and transformed it into a political drama with a mystical storyline woven in to the overarching plot. Orloff has a diverse screenwriting background—his credits also include A Mighty Heart (good!) and Legend of the Guardians (not good!)—so there's no clear indication of what he might bring to the script.

It's tough for me to give this new Battlestar the benefit of the doubt since Singer and now Orloff have chosen to put themselves in the shadow of the recent TV series rather than create a new outer-space adventure movie from scratch. [THR]

Because folks apparently can't get enough of Arthurian legend (aside from the tanking of King Arthur and other sword-and-sorcery flicks), Warner Bros. was previously developing two movies set in the sub-genre. There was Bryan Singer's Excalibur and Guy Ritchie's Excalibur, but then WB killed both projects in favor of David Dobkin's Arthur & Lancelot, which is due to start filming in January for a March 15, 2013 release. However, Bryan Singer isn't too broken up about the loss of his Excalibur. He has plenty of other projects in the pipeline and he says the death of Excalibur has allowed him to turn his attention to the feature film adaptation of Battlestar Galactica.

Hit the jump for what Singer had to say about why his Excalibur died and how he'll be moving on to Battlestar Galactica. Singer's next film, Jack the Giant Killer (a blockbuster adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk), is set to open in 3D on June 15, 2012.

Here's what Singer told SFX [via The Playlist] about Excalibur and Battlestar Galactica:
"Yeah, unfortunately it is no longer going to happen,” he says. “I was really enthused to do it. I’m a fan of John Boorman’s movie and it was my intention to get it going after Jack The Giant Killer was completed. The project was with Warner Bros and what happened is that another King Arthur project was brought to them during that time. Basically, it was just more ready to go into production than ours was. That is why our ...
