Are we in the middle of Mondo’s busiest week ever? It’s certainly starting to feel that way. For the past 24 hours, new announcements have dropped with clockwork regularity, revealing new prints from Limited Paper-favored artists like Martin Ansin, Ken Taylor, and JC Richards, and most of that is on top of the heavily-hyped, sure-to-be-awesome, in-all-likelihood-record-selling Stout & Taylor show opening at the Mondo Gallery on Friday evening. What do these prints look like, when can you get ‘em, and what can you expect in the way of coverage from Limited Paper over the next few days? Find out after the jump, folks.

Last Friday, the Mondo Gallery—in association with the fine folks at HBO—opened up its doors to reveal their recently-announced Game of Thrones gallery show. Just a few days later, the show was closed so that the Mondo crew could get their eagerly-anticipated Stout & Taylor showcase (which opens this Friday). With all that going on, Mondo would’ve been forgiven if they hadn’t released anything else this week…but in yet another expectation-defying move, they’ve zigged left when fans everywhere expected them to zag right: rather than resting on their laurels between shows, they’ve filled the space with a trio of announcements that are just as exciting as anything else they’ve got going on during SXSW 2013.

In the interest of convenience, we’re going to do things a little different today. As per usual, we’re going to show you the prints that’ve been announced along with the usual batch of info ...

We’ve got a ton of stuff to get through in Limited Paper today, including a look at Mondo’s next big gallery show (featuring artwork from Australian duo We Buy Your Kids), FroDesignCo’s series of Mythic Beasts Travel Posters (featuring Limited Paper’s spirit animal, the Chupacabra), Gallery1988’s Rated G (featuring work from Justin White), and—because why the hell not—we also need to provide an update on our latest contest/giveaway while teasing the next one. Phew. Bring a bookmark and meet me on the other side of the jump, my fellow poster junkies.

Since Limited Paper started earlier this year, we’ve been fortunate enough to see a bunch of artists and galleries join our readership (every so often, I’ll get an email from [insert name of artist you love here], and will be totally stunned to find out they’re a Limited Paper reader), and they’ve been great about giving us a head’s up whenever they’ve got something new on the horizon. Since I’m the only one writing Limited Paper, virtually all of the “rounding up material for content” responsibilities falls on my shoulders, and whenever an artist or gallery reaches out to let us know they’ve got something in the works, it’s a huge help towards keeping things running smoothly here at Limited Paper HQ.

Today’s installment of Limited Paper, for instance, is composed entirely of announcements and links provided by the artists and companies who help make up our readership, and we thank ‘em all for giving us the head’s up. Obviously, we ...

Frankenweenie, from director Tim Burton and screenwriter John August, is a charming, macabre and heartwarming tale, about Victor (voiced by Charlie Tahan), a young boy who, after unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life, but quickly faces unintended and sometimes monstrous consequences for his actions. The voice cast also includes Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Winona Ryder and Atticus Shaffer.

At the film’s press junket, actress Winona Ryder talked about what it was like to reunite with Tim Burton again (it’s been 22 years since Edward Scissorhands), how she found the experience of doing voice-over work, the messages that she connected to in the story, her impressions from the first time she worked with Burton on Beetlejuice, and why she’s always gravitated towards dark films and characters. Check out what she had to say after the jump.

Question: What was it like to work with Tim Burton again?

WINONA RYDER: Oh, it’s always amazing! I’m trying to think of like new adjectives to use because it truly is just such a special experience, every time. He’s one of my favorite people, in the world, to be around, so it never really feels like work, in that way, even though it is very creative. But, working with him is very different than other directors. Tim is very unique and very expressive. We never finish a sentence with each other. Even if he’s not verbal, you always feel very safe.

Opening this weekend is director Timur Bekmambetov‘s (Wanted) Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Based on the book of the same name from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith and produced by Tim Burton, the film imagines that Lincoln’s mother and grandfather were killed by a vampire and that the president’s resolve to end slavery was due in part to the “fact” that vampires were involved with the slave trade. Playing Lincoln is newcomer Benjamin Walker and he stars alongside Rufus Sewell, Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. For more on the film, here’s all our previous coverage and three clips with twenty minutes of behind-the-scenes footage.

A few days ago I got to speak with Tim Burton in New York City. We talked about Frankenweenie, his favorite movies, the level of his involvement in the making of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the test screening process, how many deleted scenes there are from his previous films like Batman or Pee wee's Big Adventure that have never been seen before, the status of the Beetlejuice sequel, and more. Hit the jump to watch.

With director Tim Burton's Dark Shadows opening this weekend, I recently got to interview screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith. Starring Johnny Depp as a vampire who awakens in 1972 after having been buried for 200 years, Dark Shadows is based on the 1970s TV series with the same name and it also stars Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloe Moretz, Jackie Earle Haley, Gulliver McGrath, Helena Bonham Carter, Bella Heathcote, Ray Shirley, and Jonny Lee Miller. For more on the film, here's 20 images, 9 clips and 12 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage from the set, and Matt's review.

During my extended interview with Grahame-Smith, we talked about how he got involved in the project, his anxiety about having his first film released, how John August contributed to the project, deleted scenes, and what might be on the Blu-ray. In addition, with Grahame-Smith involved in some other high profile projects, we also talked about the Beetlejuice sequel, Tim Burton’s Night of the Living, Unholy Night, and a lot more. Hit the jump to check it out.

Here's the time index of the interview with selected quotes. You can watch the entire conversation further down the page.

The black and white, stop-motion animated 3D film Frankenweenie, from director Tim Burton and based on the ideas in his 1984 live-action short, is a heart-warming tale about a boy and his beloved dog. After unexpectedly losing Sparky, young Victor (voiced by Charlie Tahan) sews him back together and harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life, but quickly faces unintended and sometimes monstrous consequences for his actions. The voice cast also includes Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Atticus Shaffer and Winona Ryder.

During an early press day for the film, in which we got the chance to preview nearly 30 minutes of the film, director/producer Tim Burton talked about expanding the original story from his short, where the idea originally came from, casting actors that he hadn’t worked with in a while to voice some of the characters, how the stop-motion medium has changed over the years, his hope that younger audiences will want to explore the monsters that he’s paying tribute to in the film, and post-converting to 3D. He also talked about the fact that Seth Grahame-Smith is working on writing Beetlejuice 2 and that he might be interested in getting involved depending on what he thinks of the script, the rumor about him doing a Pinocchio movie with Robert Downey Jr., and that Big Eyes is in the works, but that you never know what will be ready to go next. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Doing early press for the black and white, stop-motion animated 3D film Frankenweenie, due out on October 5th, questions for director Tim Burton naturally turned to what he might decide to focus on next. While we will post that portion of the interview on May 9th, I can say that the nearly 30 minutes of footage that we saw was as adorable, twisted and witty as you would expect, and I can’t wait to see the full-length feature.

When asked about whether or not he’s started to think about what his next film will be, Burton said that he’s going to take a break because he thinks it’s embarrassing that he has three movies coming out this year. He also talked about the fact that Seth Grahame-Smith is working on writing Beetlejuice 2, and that he might be interested in getting involved depending on what he thinks of the script, and that Big Eyes is in the works, but that you never know what will be ready to go next. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Question: This is a very busy time for you, with two movies coming out this year that you directed (Dark Shadows and Frankenweenie) and one that you produced (Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter). Have you started to look forward yet?

Tim Burton: No. I think I should [take a break].

Will you have any involvement on Beetlejuice 2?

Burton: Seth [Grahame-Smith] is writing something. I just told him, because it was something where I liked ...

Director Tim Burton looks to be returning to his comedic roots with his upcoming film Dark Shadows. The first trailer premiered the other day, and the main comparison that came to mind tone-wise when watching the trailer was Burton’s masterwork Beetlejuice. The ghoulishly funny 1988 film is a classic, and rumors of a sequel have lingered for quite a few years now. We got a brief update from Burton back in January, when he confirmed that his Dark Shadows screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith was working on a screenplay.

Steve got to speak with Grahame-Smith earlier today at WonderCon where the screenwriter was promoting Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and he gave an update on the Beetlejuice sequel confirming that Michael Keaton would return to star and Burton would produce. He also revealed that the film will take place 26 or 27 years after the original, and teased what the premise might involve. Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

Grahame-Smith admitted he hasn’t had the chance to sit down and write the Beetlejuice follow-up just yet (he’s got a lot on his plate at the moment), but he did confirm that he’s met not only with Burton, but also with Keaton:
“Beetlejuice is hopefully the third thing I’m gonna write this year. I’ve met with Tim about it, I’ve met with Michael Keaton about it. There’s a lot of goodwill to want to do it from both of those guys; Tim from a producing aspect and Michael from returning to the character. ...

We recently brought you a new image from Tim Burton’s adaptation of the cult classic TV series Dark Shadows, and now we have quite a few words from the director on a few of his upcoming projects. He’s currently in post-production on Dark Shadows, which tells the story of a vampire (played by Johnny Depp) who attempts to reintegrate with his descendants after being buried for 200 years. In addition to talking about the setting, tone, and characters of Dark Shadows, Burton gave an update on the Beetlejuice sequel that Seth Grahame-Smith is writing and revealed that they’ll be testing an IMAX version of Frankenweenie. Hit the jump for all the details.

In an extended interview with MTV, Burton talked about the tone he was trying to capture with Dark Shadows:
“It's got such a strange vibe. And it's not something that a lot of people necessarily know. You're trying to do a weird soap opera… Some of the cast knew about it. Some didn't, but they were all game for it — getting into the weird spirit of what Dark Shadows was. It has a weird sense of heightened melodrama… It was hard to put into words the tone it was. It had a weird seriousness, but it was funny in a way that wasn't really funny. We just had to feel our way through it to find the tone.”
The director revealed that due to the fact that the cast arrived at different times, there wasn’t an opportunity to rehearse in ...

NBC has pulled Community from the network's midseason schedule so we can all continue to enjoy the magic of the wretched new sitcom, Whitney. In fairness, NBC has given Dan Harmon's hilarious and brilliant sitcom over two seasons to find an audience and that audience has never come. But the ones who have shown up (i.e. smart people) have been rewarded with references so clever that sometime they cannot be seen with the naked eye...or at least not in a single episode (or even a single TV series).

Case in point: a Community fan recently noticed that the show had directly referenced Tim Burton's Beetlejuice once per season for the past three seasons, which would of course complete the eponymous character's summoning chant, "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice." On any other show, that would simply be a coincidence and a writer's room that liked the 1988 comedy as a go-to reference. On Community, it's par for the course. Hit the jump to check out the proof of Beetlejuice summoning and hope that a Michael Keaton guest spot is on the way. Community airs at 8/7c on NBC. Tell your friends.

David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith and their KatzSmith production company have signed a two-year first-look deal with Warner Brothers. One of the first projects under that deal is a Beetlejuice reboot because of course it is. For those who haven't seen the original: stop making me feel old. Tim Burton's 1988 comedy starred Michael Keaton as the eponymous character, a mischievous ghoul who teams with a young woman (Winona Ryder) to get her parents out of their new home so it can be restored to its dead owners (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin). Deadline reports that the deal grew out of Grahame-Smith's screenwriting work on Tim Burton's next film, Dark Shadows, an adaptation of the 1960s horror TV series. Grahame-Smith, who came to popularity out of his gimmick novels Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (film adaptations are in the works for both), is contracted to write two scripts under the deal and Beetlejuice could be one of them.

Hit the jump for other projects KatzSmith has in the works.

Outside of their deal with Warner Bros., KatzSmith has the comedy From Mia with Love set up at Fox. Katzenberg (pictured far right; son of DreamWorks Animation's Jeffrey Katzenberg) and Grahame-Smith wrote the script along with Kevin Chesley and Bryan Shukoff. The movie is about "three high school guys who are looking to lose their virginity before college, hire a Russian mail-order bride and find she has brought a lot of baggage." The film is supposed to be ...

I don't know if this actually increases the likelihood of a Beetlejuice sequel, but two of the stars are on board if Warner Bros. feels like putting it together. Moviehole asked Michael Keaton about his interest in a follow-up to the 1988 Tim Burton horror comedy at a press junket for Toy Story 3, to which the actor responded:
"Oh, I'd do that in a heartbeat... Absolutely. That's the one thing I'd love to do again."
Likewise, co-star Geena Davis responded in the affirmative ("I would do that!") to a similar inquiry last month. The idea of a sequel has been bandied about for some time (there's even a script titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian floating out there somewhere), and doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility. Good to know Keaton won't be an obstacle if your fingers are crossed. Hit the jump for a synopsis and trailer of the original.

Here's the synopsis for the 1988 Beetlejuice via Amazon:
Before making Batman, director Tim Burton and star Michael Keaton teamed up for this popular black comedy about a young couple (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin) whose premature death leads them to a series of wildly bizarre afterlife exploits. As ghosts in their own New England home, they're faced with the challenge of scaring off the pretentious new owners (Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Jones), whose daughter (Winona Ryder) has an affinity for all things morbid.

Keaton plays the mischievous Beetlejuice, a freelance "bio-exorcist" who's got an evil agenda behind his plot to help the young ...

Artist "Hexagonall" has designed minimalist posters [via The Awesomer] for all of Tim Burton's movies, plus his short films Vincent, Frankenweenie, and The Adventures of Stainboy (although The Nightmare Before Christmas was actually directed by Henry Selick). For those who don't know "Hexagonall", he/she's the gent/lady who designed the Lost/Saul Bass mash-up back in March. If you like Tim Burton's movies and minimalist artwork, hit the jump to check out these posters. You can click here if you want to buy them.
