We’ve got a couple of casting stories involve two more senior actors to share this afternoon. First up, Morgan Freeman has been added to the cast of the “Hangover with old people” comedy Last Vegas. The story centers on four old friends who decide to throw a Las Vegas bachelor party for the only one of them who has remained single. Michael Douglas stars as the groom-to-be, and Robert De Niro was recently added to the cast as the wet blanket of the group. Christopher Walken has also been rumored to be circling a role, but he has yet to officially sign on. Jon Turtletaub (National Treasure) is set to direct, and I can’t decide if this movie will be terrible or amazing.

The dark comedy thriller Better Living Through Chemistry has been going through some casting changes as of late. Last month, Sam Rockwell replaced Jeremy Renner in the lead role (since Renner is starring in every movie possible for the next two years), and now Olivia Wilde is in talks to replace Jennifer Garner in the lead female role. Garner is forced to leave the project not because of scheduling issues, but because she’s now expecting her third child with husband Ben Affleck.
Variety reports that Wilde is in talks to play a trophy wife with whom Rockwell’s small-town pharmacist strikes up an affair as a result of a loveless marriage. Things take a turn, however, when the two start using hard drugs and begin plotting the murder of Wilde’s husband. Michelle Monaghan will play Rockwell’s wife and Judi Dench is set as the film’s narrator. Writer/directors Geoff Moore and David Posamentier are making their feature film debut with the project, and I must say I’m quite intrigued. The cast is spot-on for the darkly comic story, so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how this one shapes up.

Sam Rockwell is in negotiations with Occupant Films to star in the black comedy/thriller Better Living Through Chemistry. Jeremy Renner, who was previously slated for the role, has jumped ship to maintain a slightly more manageable schedule (he is currently on board Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, The Avengers, and The Bourne Legacy, just to name a few). Starring opposite Jennifer Garner and Michelle Monaghan, Variety reports that Rockwell will play a small town pharmacist whose unhappy marriage (to Monaghan) leaves him vulnerable to the alluring wiles of a sexy trophy wife (Garner) and the highs of prescription drugs. Chaos breaks loose when their affair escalates and the unfaithful couple hatches a plot to murder her husband. The film will be a debut feature from writer-directors Geoff Moore and David Posamentier. Judi Dench is on board to narrate the pic. Judi Dench and Michelle Monaghan will join Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Garner in the indie thriller Better Living Through Chemistry. The script from David Posamentier and Geoff Moore ranked 17th on the 2010 Black List of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplay, which provides this logline: “A straight-laced pharmacist’s (Renner) uneventful life spirals out of control when he starts an affair with a trophy wife (Garner) customer who takes him on a joyride involving sex, drugs and possibly murder.” I really like this cast together, and I’m eager to see the ever-innocent Garner play against type.
Hit the jump for a look at the odd role that Dench will assume in the production (possible spoilers).

It’s been a busy few weeks for Jeremy Renner, kicked off by the announcement he will star opposite Tom Cruise in the Mission: Impossible reboot. Last week, Renner was linked to both Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (with Noomi Rapace) and Sheldon Turner’s Virtue Fall (he’d replace Colin Farrell). We can add the Occupant Films thriller Better Living Through Chemistry to the pile, with Jennifer Garner attached to co-star. Details after the jump.

We have three quick bites of casting news for you today. Production Weekly is tweeting that Robert De Niro may re-team with his We’re No Angels co-star Sean Penn for Paolo Sorrentino’s This Must Be the Place. PW is also reporting that Paul Rudd is circling the dramedy Better Living Through Chemistry and the dark comedy Horrible Bosses. Finally, Pajiba reports that Matt Damon and Keira Knightley have been offered the leads in the adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Tender is the Night.
