In the animated feature Puss in Boots, spun off from the popular Shrek franchise, actor Zach Galifianakis voices Humpty Alexander Dumpty, an odd egg who grew up in the same orphanage with Puss (Antonio Banderas) until the friends had a falling out. When the two damaged characters cross paths again years later, they team up, with the help of Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek), to continue their childhood quest for the fabled magic beans, in order to grow a beanstalk that will lead them to the goose that lays the golden eggs.
At the film’s press day, Zach Galifianakis spoke to Collider for this exclusive interview about playing the famous nursery rhyme character with a snazzy wardrobe, having no idea where his middle name comes from, how director Chris Miller really helped him shape his voice performance, how blown away he is by the finished look of the film, and that he would do voice-over work again, in a heartbeat. He also talked about starting rehearsals for the political comedy Dog Fight after Halloween, how much he’s looking forward to working with Will Ferrell and getting to shave his beard for the role, that he’s heard they’re writing a script for The Hangover 3 (which the cast is all interested to read) but knows nothing more of the film’s status than that, that he’s hoping to continue for a Season 4 of his HBO series Bored to Death, and that he will be doing more episodes of Between Two Ferns, if he can get guests to show up without their publicists. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

A new episode of Zach Galifianakis’ Between Two Ferns has gone up on Funny or Die and this time the guest is Will Ferrell. While the sketch is funny, it will make you appreciate that Between Two Ferns works best when Galifianakis gets to be weird and is playing against an uncomfortable guest. This is more of Galifianakis and Ferrell trying to out-strange each other. It’s not bad, but it’s not as hilarious as one would hope.

A new episode of Between Two Ferns has gone online and sadly it feels like a bit of a rehash. Zach Galifianakis sits down with Tila Tequila and Jennifer Aniston but it ends up being Tequila who gets the majority of his attention. It’s the same set-up that Galifianakis did with Andy Richter and Conan O’Brien but not quite as good. There are still some funny gags, but Aniston seems more befuddled by the whole endeavor than other actors who have managed to play into it.

This weekend, you can see Bruce Willis taking Karl Urban’s punches in Red, but right now you can see Willis taking Zach Galifianakis’ insulting questions in a new installment of Between Two Ferns. While I think Between Two Ferns works best when Galifianakis sits down with another comic performer (like Steve Carell or Ben Stiller), they’re almost always highly entertaining and this new episode doesn’t disappoint, especially when Willis fondly reflects on the 80s.

Steve Carell and Zach Galifianakis will be seen together on screen starting tomorrow in Dinner for Schmucks. However, you can see them together right now in a new installment of Between Two Ferns, which is a billion times funnier than Dinner for Schmucks. For those who aren’t familiar with the series, Galifianakis “interviews” a celebrity (who is in on the joke) and uses his deadpan to insult them and make them uncomfortable. Past victims include Bradley Cooper, Charlize Theron, Conan O’Brien, and Ben Stiller.
But Carell isn’t having any of it. And then Evan Almighty jokes are had by all. Hit the jump to check out the new episode of Between Two Ferns.

If you haven’t heard of Zach Galifainakis’ Between Two Ferns series, you need to get on board. If you don’t love them, you need to get off life. For those who don’t know, the show is styled like a public access interview show where Galifianakis takes on the persona of an obnoxious interviewer while various celebrities play it like they would any regular interview. Previous guests include Bradley Cooper, Charlize Theron, and Conan O’Brien among others.
His latest “interview” is with Ben Stiller. Stiller, who’s promoting his upcoming film Greenberg, gets ripped apart by Galifianakis The sketch opens with Ben Stiller being credited as “Actor, ‘Duplex’” and it gets worse for Stiller from there.

Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifainakis is great. We already knew that. But up until now, he’s mainly interviewed actors known for their dramatic work or at least not known primarily for comedy (the exception being the first episode with Michael Cera). But in this new episode he sits down with two gentlemen who have been making folks laugh for their entire professional careers: The Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien and announcer Andy Richter. However, Conan soon finds that his cute string dance and self-deprecating remarks will not save him. On the contrary, they are his hilarious demise and the stone-faced Galifianakis makes this new “interview” his best one yet. I’m still coughing from a joke that made me literally fall out of my chair laughing.

Have you seen the previous installments of Zach Galifianakis’ brilliant comedy sketch, “Between Two Ferns”? No? Well, you read Collider so obviously you saw the one he did with his “Hangover” co-star Bradley Cooper. Okay, I’m done trying to convince you to watch his latest “interview” with Charlize Theron where they talk about her name, her love of animals, and the chemistry he feels between the Oscar winner and himself.
