Unlike some of the other returning characters from the previous Resident Evil films, Boris Kodjoe survived in the last film (Resident Evil: Afterlife). So when we asked him on the set of Resident Evil: Retribution last month when he find out that he’d be coming back as Luther West, he told us, “I guess two years ago when I read the script and found out that I didn’t die. That was pretty clear then.” During the rest of the interview, Kodjoe talked to us about what fans can expect in the fifth film, the action scenes, the gunplay, the fans, what filming in Toronto has been like, and so much more. Hit the jump to either read or listen to what he had to say.

The first teaser trailer for the latest installment in the Resident Evil franchise has gone online. Resident Evil: Retribution marks the fifth entry in the popular post-apocalyptic series. This time, Alice (Milla Jovovich) continues her search across the globe for those responsible for the deadly outbreak. Things take a twist, however, when she runs into a few familiar faces. RE5 was written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and it stars Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe, and Li Bingbing.

With hits like Alias, Fringe and of course Lost under his belt, it appears Bad Robot mastermind J.J. Abrams can do no wrong. But how does the popular filmmaker take a concept that has been driven into the ground with mediocre romantic comedies like Killers and Date Night or already somewhat explored by NBC’s other action comedy spy series Chuck? The answer is very carefully and with moderate success.
Steven and Samantha Bloom (played respectively by Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw) are struggling through debt with their catering business until grizzly old Agent Carlton Shaw (Gerald McRaney) reluctantly sits them down for a proposal to help locate missing CIA agent Leo Nash (Carter MacIntyre), who also happens to be one of their good friends. With a marriage that has somewhat lost its spark (though certainly not its true love), the only way to spice thing up under the covers may be to become Undercovers all over again. Find out how The Bloom’s fare on their first mission after the jump.

The NBC series Undercovers is a sexy, fun, action-packed spy drama from writer/producer/director J.J. Abrams and executive producer/writer Josh Reims. As far as their family and friends are concerned, Steven Bloom (Boris Kodjoe) and his wife Samantha (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) are a typical married couple with their own catering company in Los Angeles. But secretly, the duo were two of the best spies the CIA had ever known, until they retired five years ago. Now, they’ve been reinstated by their old boss, Carlton Shaw (Gerald McRaney), to locate and rescue a fellow spy who has gone missing.
In a recent interview, actor Boris Kodjoe talked about what a dream come true it is for him to play this role, how much he enjoys getting to do his own stunts, and what an honor it is to be the lead on one of the most-anticipated series of the Fall TV season. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

Zombies have overrun Los Angeles. And in Screen Gems’ Resident Evil: Afterlife, they’re more than just metaphorically undead. Newcomer to the merry band of zombie fighting survivors is Boris Kodjoe as Luther West. At the press junket for Resident Evil: Afterlife, Kodjoe heaped praise upon director Paul W.S. Anderson and then rest of the cast. He also talked a bit about his upcoming role in J.J. Abrams’ Undercovers. Hit the jump to watch what he had to say:

In a bit of a no-brainer, NBC has picked up the high profile pilot for the spy drama Undercovers for their fall 2010 schedule. Co-created by J.J. Abrams (Star Trek) and Josh Reims (Brothers and Sisters), Undercovers nabbed the first official season order among the broadcast networks after riding high on a wave of good buzz throughout pilot season. The Abrams-directed pilot opens on a married couple who currently run a small L.A. catering company, but fell in love when they were two of the CIA’s finest spies; Boris Kodjoe (Soul Food) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Doctor Who) star.
Given the Abrams pedigree, expectations are high for a network who could use a savior next season. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a two hour block of spy-related awesomeness (i.e. Chuck at 8:00, Undercovers at 9:00) when the full schedule is announced in a couple weeks. Last year I got to visit the set of Resident Evil: Afterlife when the movie was filming in Toronto. Now that Screen Gems has lifted the embargo, my goal is to post my set report and a few of the onset interviews later tonight. Since the studio has only released a few official images from the movie, I decided to grab a bunch from the trailer to add to my interview articles and you can check them out after the jump. Look for a lot more on Resident Evil: Afterlife later tonight:

The first trailer for Screen Gems Resident Evil: Afterlife has hit the net and if you’re a fan of the Resident Evil franchise, you’re going to like the trailer as it features a lot of action. Also, unlike some movies that say coming to you in 3D at the end, the RE: Afterlife trailer makes a huge point to let you know it was filmed in 3D using the cameras James Cameron created and used on Avatar.
I actually did a set visit on Resident Evil: Afterlife last year and got to see the cameras up close, as well as talk to the people making the film. There is no doubt in my mind this movie is going to look very cool in 3D and be loads better than the post converted movies like Clash of the Titans and Alice in Wonderland. Hit the jump to check out the trailer and look for my set visit and interviews very soon:

With Sony Screen Gems premiering the 3D red band trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife this Friday night at Wonder Con, it’s no surprise the promotional machine has ramped up with the release of the first images from the movie (thanks to MySpace). Starring Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Spencer Locke, Wentworth Miller, Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe, Kim Coates, Norman Yeung and Kasey Barnfield, RE: Afterlife continues the adventures of Alice in the world of the undead.
While many films made in 2D are getting released in 3D, Resident Evil: Afterlife was filmed using 3D cameras. What that means is…this thing is going to look awesome in 3D! Hit the jump to check out the first images and look for the trailer this Saturday at 2:15pm.

Screen Gems and Constantin Film has sent out a press release announcing that “Resident Evil: Afterlife,” the next installment in the “Resident Evil” franchise, has begun production in Toronto, Canada with Paul W. S. Anderson writing, directing and producing. The fourth film will be shot and released in 3-D. While story details are being kept under wraps, they did provide us with a tease by saying, “Alice’s battle with The Umbrella Corporation isn’t finished. Last time we saw Alice, she let them know she was coming after them. It’s time to settle the score.” They also confirmed the cast and it’s Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Spencer Locke, Wentworth Miller, Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe and Kim Coates. Who they play and the full press release after the jump:

I have a few suggestions for the band Breaking Benjamin’s music video for the upcoming Bruce Willis flick, “Surrogates”. First, don’t show the band. They look like any other of today’s popular “rock” groups (I don’t care what genre you think you’re in; you must actually rock to be labeled as “rock”). Also, don’t make your first lyrics “Now the dark begins to rise” because some emo kid is going to find the energy to sue for stealing his “poetry”. Finally, I couldn’t make it past the first 45 seconds. Maybe you’ll have more luck. I will say that the scenes from “Surrogate” within the music video look very cool. Actually, if you just turn off the sound and let it play, it shouldn’t be too bad.
We also have five new images from the film after the jump and you don’t have to listen to shitty modern rock to enjoy them! “Surrogates” hits theatres on September 25th.
