ARROW Season 3 Trailer Introduces a Host of New Characters; Plenty of Action

by     Posted 148 days ago

In addition to picking up Peter Stormare, Devon Aoki and Brandon Routh for its third season, The CW’s Arrow held a panel today at the San Diego Comic-Con where unveiled a trailer for the aforementioned (and apparently action packed) Season 3.  To be honest, I’ve never seen an episode but what I’m seeing here looks like it hits its intended target.

Arrow stars Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, David Ramsey, Willa Wolland and Caity Lotz.  It returns on Wednesday, October 8th at 8pm ET/PT.  Hit the jump for the Arrow Season 3 trailer.  For more on the show and its spinoff, The Flash, check out our interview with writer/producer Andrew Kreisberg.  We’ll also have more on the panel shortly.

Brandon Routh Joins Season 3 of ARROW

by     Posted 166 days ago

The CW’s Arrow just picked up Peter Stormare and Devon Aoki, but apparently there’s still room on the season three roster for more because now Brandon Routh is in the mix, too.  Clearly Routh knows a thing or two about donning tights and rocking superhuman powers having starred in Bryan Singer’s 2006 release, Superman Returns, but for those of you who’d rather avoid show spoilers, we’ll save the specifics of his Arrow role for after the jump.  If you’d rather not wait until Arrow returns on Wednesday, October 8th at 8pm ET/PT for the big reveal, continue on to find out who Routh is bringing to Starling City.

TV Casting Call: Brandon Routh to Play Vegan Nurse in CBS Comedy PARTNERS; Justin Bartha Set as Lead in Ryan Murphy’s Comedy Pilot THE NEW NORMAL

by     Posted 2 years, 301 days ago

We’ve got a couple of TV casting stories to share with you this evening. First up, Superman Returns star Brandon Routh, Elizabeth Regen (The Professional), and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead) have joined the CBS half-hour comedy pilot Partners. The multi-camera show comes from Will & Grace creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan and centers on two lifelong friends and business partners Charlie, who’s straight and Louis, who’s gay. Michael Urie plays Louis and Deadline reports that Routh will play Louis’ partner, “a former alcoholic, club hopping model, now a sober, vegan nurse.” Sadly, the nurse is devoid of any vegan-infused superpowers.

Regen will play Ro-Ro, Charlie and Louis’ colorful assistant while Davis (who starred on the original British version of The Office) will play a bookkeeper for Charlie’s fiancé, played by Sophia Bush. Routh is no stranger to the small screen as he had a memorable recurring character on NBC’s Chuck, and I think his infectious charm suits him well for this role. Hit the jump for casting news concerning The Hangover star Justin Bartha joining Ryan Murphy’s high-profile comedy pilot.

CHUCK Co-Creator Chris Fedak Reflects on the Series, Talks Guest Stars and Series Finale

by     Posted 2 years, 327 days ago

With the two-hour series finale of Chuck airing tonight on NBC, we can finally reveal that we were on set for the filming of that last episode, where we got to interview the cast and creative team about their experiences. While everyone was clearly proud of their work and time on the show, it was also obvious that they were sad to see it go.

During the interview, show creator/writer/executive producer Chris Fedak talked about how surreal it was to be wrapping up the last couple of days on the TV series, that the final two hours will play very much like a movie, that the finale will echo all of the past seasons, and that they believe it will be as much of an emotional experience for the fans as it was for the cast to shoot it. Check out what he had to say after the jump, and be aware that there might be some spoilers.

I’d love to chalk the failure of Dylan Dog: Dead of Night to vampire fatigue, and indeed that’s part of its problem. So inundated are we with tales of bloodsuckers and the secret lives they lead that a movie needs to really deliver something original if it wants to stand out. Dylan Dog doesn’t, content instead to regurgitate tired old clichés about evil vamps in Armani suits who hang out in trendy nightclubs and plot to destroy the world in some damn way or another. That creative laziness expands outward to engulf every moment of the film, from the shockingly by-the-numbers detective voice-overs to the very notion of a supernatural detective. The new Superman Blu-ray set has arrived with much fanfare and ballyhoo, and it certainly provides a handsome package. The big question, of course, is whether owners of previous sets should spend the extra money on this one or not. The studios’ perpetual habit of double-dipping has made buyers skeptical, and before they pony up $100 on a new collection – even one as good as this – they want to know if they’re getting anything new. In this case, the Blu-ray set perfectly duplicates the 2006 “tin case” DVD collection (which is no longer widely available). It has absolutely nothing on top of that, and if you already own that collection, this new one offers only improved sound and picture quality. Having said that, there is so much awesome stuff here – duplicated or no – that any fan worth his super salt absolutely needs it in his collection. Brandon Routh to Star in Lacrosse Film CROOKED ARROWS

by     Posted 3 years, 202 days ago

Superman Returns star Brandon Routh is set to topline the sports film Crooked Arrows. Steve Rash (Can’t Buy Me Love) will direct the flick which is set in the world of lacrosse, because every American loves a good uplifting lacrosse movie. Variety reports that the story centers on a Native American high school lacrosse team that is forced to join the prep school league. Routh will play the part-Native American entrepreneurial son of the tribe’s leader, who is forced to coach the rag-tag team in a league full of much better rivals. Todd Baird is writing the screenplay. Filming is set to begin in Boston this July.

Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington Exclusive Interview DYLAN DOG

by     Posted 3 years, 237 days ago

Actors Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington became best friends after bonding during their experience on Superman Returns. Now, they’ve reunited for a very different film, this one based on the popular Italian comic book Dylan Dog. After being cast in the title role, Routh immediately thought of Huntington for the role of Dylan’s zombie sidekick Marcus, having no idea that Huntington had already auditioned for the role and had impressed director Kevin Munroe. What results is a film that is both fun and funny, with equal ports gore and laughs.

Sitting down to chat with Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington for this exclusive interview for Collider, it’s easy to see the strength of their friendship, and their rapport is often hilarious. During the interview, they talked about why they enjoyed these characters so much, how much their friendship added to their on screen relationship, how great it was to have the added bonus of people in practical make-up for the creatures in the film, and how they would love to work together again. Huntington also shared some insight about what he’d like to see from Season 2 of his hit SyFy series Being Human, which starts filming in July. Check out what they had to say after the jump:

A new featurette detailing the setting of the upcoming supernatural thriller Dylan Dog: Dead of Night has gone online.  For those unfamiliar with the property, it’s based on an Italian comic that is set in London and follows paranormal investigator Dylan Dog (played by Brandon Routh).  It was too cost-prohibitive to shoot in London so the production moved to New Orleans, which also has a great sense of mystery and horror.

Hit the jump to check out the featurette.  Dylan Dog: Dead of Night also stars Sam Huntington, Peter Stormare, Anita Briem, and Taye Diggs.  The film opens April 29th. Click here for Steve’s WonderCon interview with Routh and Huntington.

Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington Talk DYLAN DOG at WonderCon 2011

Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington Interview DYLAN DOG WonderCon slice

With director Kevin Munroe’s Dylan Dog getting released April 29, stars Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington were at WonderCon on Saturday to premiere footage and also answer fan questions.  If you’re not familiar with Dylan Dog, the film blends horror and humor and it’s set in the backstreets of New Orleans.  From the synopsis, “the story revolves around Dylan Dog, the world’s only private investigator of the undead with a business card that features his slogan, “investigator of the paranormal:  no pulse, no problem.”  Along with his assistant Marcus, Dylan will go where the living dare not — facing down friend and foe alike, until justice is done.”

Before the panel, I sat down with Routh and Huntington for a very loose interview.  We talked about being at WonderCon and can they walk the convention floor, what’s their go to karaoke songs, the long road for Dylan Dog, they talk about the film, who they play and what it’s about, filming in New Orleans, and the other stuff they’re working on like Being Human and Missing William.  Hit the jump to watch.

U.S. Trailer and Poster for DYLAN DOG: DEAD OF NIGHT

by     Posted 3 years, 291 days ago

For a few months now, we’ve been running trailers and posters for the Italian release of the English-language film Dylan Dog: Dead of Night.  Now that the movie finally has a U.S. distributor, it’s received a trailer that I can actually understand and a poster that is all kinds of generic.  I like the premise of the movie: a human detective (played by Brandon Routh) is appointed by supernatural creatures to impartially investigate crimes which happen in their underworld.  Unfortunately, that premise is undermined by the heavy reliance on Sam Huntington’s comic relief character and some truly awful special effects make-up.  Watching this trailer, I couldn’t help but wonder how this movie isn’t going straight to DVD.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer and poster.  Dylan Dog: Dead of Night opens April 29th.

DYLAN DOG: DEAD OF NIGHT Set for Release on April 29th

by     Posted 3 years, 294 days ago

Dylan Dog: Dead of Night finally has a U.S. release date.  Kevin Munroe’s adaptation of the Italian horror comic will be released on April 29th.  Brandon Routh stars as the titular supernatural detective and co-stars Sam Huntington, Anita Briem, and Taye Diggs. The film is set to be released in Italy this month.

Heat Vision doesn’t mention how wide a release Dylan Dog is getting, but it will have some serious competition in the form of Universal’s Fast Five.  It’s tough to sell comic book movies based on comics that most moviegoers in the U.S. has heard of, but it’s even harder when you’re up against the fifth-installment of the pre-packaged Fast & Furious franchise.
