HBO has released an incredibly brief teaser trailer for the second season of Game of Thrones. It’s a circle of fire and then someone whispering “The night is dark and full of terrors.” Well, half of that statement is obvious and the other half is why Ambien may not be the right sleep medication for you. Obviously, as someone who hasn’t read the books, the quote is meaningless to me. But apparently it’s the mantra of Melisandre of Asshai, a character who is introduced in the new season and who will be played by Carice Van Houten (Black Book).
Hit the jump to check out the brief teaser trailer. Game of Thrones returns April 2012.

The UK trailer for the horror flick Intruders has gone online. The story focuses on two families, on in Britain and the other in Spain and a child from each family being haunted by a dark specter. Clive Owen plays the father of the British girl who sees the shadowy figure and his skepticism turns to the horror when he discovers that the malevolent creature is real. I really hope that Intruders isn’t going to be “Trust but with a menacing apparition instead of a rapist.” They certainly seem to share theme of a father struggling with his inability to protect his child.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film also stars Carice van Houten, Daniel Bruhl, Pilar Lopez de Ayala, and Kerry Fox. Intruders opens in the UK and the US on October 7th.

New casting has been announced for the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. EW reports that Carice Van Houten (Black Book) and Stephen Dillane (John Adams) will play the sorceress Melisandre and Stannis Barantheon, respectively. Per EW, Melissandre is a “powerful woman” who councils Stannis in his quest to take the Iron Throne. Badass Digest helpfully adds, “Melisandre comes from Asshai, a mysterious Eastern kingdom where magic still rules, and she is the prophet of a new, monotheistic religion that she seeks to bring to Westeros.” As for Stannis, EW describes the former king’s older brother as “humorless and authoritative, with a strict moral code” but “gradually succumbing to the power of his newfound religion.” I don’t know how well-suited each actor is for their role since I haven’t read the books, but I do know that I liked Van Houten and Dillane in Black Book and John Adams, respectively.
The second season of Game of Thrones will premiere in spring 2012.

An international teaser trailer for the horror flick Intruders has gone online. Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), the film stars Clive Owen as a father trying to help his 11-year-old daughter (Ella Purnell) deal with her childhood demons. Said demons might be slightly literal.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film also stars Kerry Fox (Bright Star), Carice van Houten (Black Book), and Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds). Intruders opens October 7th.

The Black Death is spreading to American shores with the premiere of a red band trailer. The film, starring Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings), is set during the first outbreak of the bubonic plague in 14th century England. Bean plays a knight, Ulric, who is tasked with discovering the secret of a small group of villagers who can resist the plague’s effects. He is guided by a young monk, played by Eddie Redmayne (The Other Boleyn Girl). Black Death also stars David Warner (TRON) and Carice van Houten (Valkyrie), directed by Christopher Smith (Severance).
If you were a fan of fellow LotR alum Karl Urban’s brutal Viking saga Pathfinder, you’re sure to love the Dark Ages violence of Black Death. Hit the jump for the red-band trailer and full synopsis.

Universal has released seven movie clips from their upcoming futuristic action-thriller Repo Men. Starring Jude Law, Forest Whitaker, Liev Schreiber, RZA, Alice Braga, and Carice van Houten, the film takes place in a future where you can buy replacement organs from a company called The Union. But if you can’t pay your bill, the company sends Repo Men and they’ll take back your organ without any thought to what happens to you.
As most of you know, Repo Men was supposed to be released awhile back, but for whatever reason, it got bumped. Usually when that happens, it’s a cause for concern. But I have to say, after watching the clips, I’m a lot more interested in the film as it looks pretty cool. Hit the jump to check them out for yourself. Repo Men arrives in theaters March 19.

Universal has just sent over 27 high res images and 5 posters from their futuristic action-thriller Repo Men. The film stars Jude Law, Forest Whitaker, Liev Schreiber, RZA, Alice Braga, and Carice van Houten. Here’s the one liner:
A repo man, made up of artificial organs, receives a heart transplant and, when he struggles to make the payments, must go on the run from his former partner.
We’ll have a lot more on this film as the press junket was in New York City today and a new Collider writer was there. Until then, hit the jump for the images and posters:

Universal has just sent over high resolution versions of the recently released Repo Men movie posters. I believe they came out last week when I was at Sundance, hence why we didn’t post them.
The film stars Jude Law, Forest Whitaker, Liev Schreiber, RZA, Alice Braga, and Carice van Houten and it’s a futuristic action-thriller where a company called The Union has extended people’s lives thanks to expensive mechanical organs. Jude Law and Forest Whitaker play the people who collect the organs if you can’t pay.
While I love futuristic movies, I know this film was due to be released awhile ago and the date kept getting pushed back. Not a good sign. But saying that, I’m still in based on the cast and concept. I’m just hoping the film surprises me. Hit the jump to check out the posters and the full synopsis:
Tom Cruise spent twenty years on top. Or almost. From 1986′s Top Gun through to 2005′s Mission: Impossible III, the man was one of the world’s most bankable stars. Then he married Katie Holmes, and it ruined him. That or the couch jumping. Or the scientology. Or the seriousness. Or the fact that he was on top for so long, but came across as awkward and self-serious, and all those bad movies like MI:2 caught up with him, or something.
Maybe he pissed off Steven Spielberg – who was supposedly not amused that TC hurt the War of the Worlds box office with his schtick – but he left Paramount, which had been his home since Top Gun (he worked elsewhere, but they were his base). Ben Stiller helped him by giving Cruise a show-stopping cameo in Tropic Thunder. And though Valkyrie was looking to be a disaster when it moved from an October to February release date. But MGM did a smart thing and put it out in Oscar season. Sure, the film was never meant to be a contender, but it had the pedigree. And so the film did a little over $80 domestic, and a bit more than that internationally. Strange that this might be considered a comeback. But the film attempted to marginalize its star, and surround him with talents.
