A trailer for writer/director Dennis Lee’s drama Fireflies in the Garden has landed online. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe, Julia Roberts, Emily Watson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hayden Panettiere and Shannon Lucio, the film is a semi-autobiographical tale from Lee that focuses on the tumultuous relationships within the Taylor family that are confronted after a tragic car accident kills the matriarch (Roberts).
The film was actually completed back in 2008 and is just now making its way to theaters. Given the amount of star power it contains, I wouldn’t think that bodes well for the final product. That said, I think the cut on display here is plenty effective in setting up the tension between father (Dafoe) and son (Reynolds). Check out the trailer after the jump. Fireflies in the Garden will open to select markets on October 14th.

Carrie-Anne Moss and Malcolm McDowell have joined Adelaide Clemens, Sean Bean, Kit Harington, and Radha Mitchell in the upcoming horror sequel Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. Moss and McDowell will play Claudia and Leonard Wolf, but the press release doesn’t offer any details on those characters. For those just tuning in, here’s the synopsis:
For years, Heather Mason (Clemens) and her father (Sean Bean) have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.

Tattoo it on your body if you have to, but make a note that Christopher Nolan’s Memento is coming back to theaters for one night only on February 17th. The new high-definition digital print is being released to 11 select theaters in the U.S. and Canada to mark the film’s 10th Anniversary and upcoming special edition Blu-ray. The screenings will also feature a taped Q&A between Nolan and Guillermo del Toro (you can check out our coverage of that event here).
Hit the jump to check out a list of theaters that will be hosting screenings. The special edition Blu-ray of Memento arrives February 22nd.

While there is a decent chance you’ll one day be able to file this under “Internet movie rumors that never amounted to anything,” we’d be remiss not to at least pass this along. A report has filed in from a “Q & A” at the London International School of Performing Arts which claims that star Keanu Reeves spoke at moderate length about returning to The Matrix for two more sequels. Per the account, Reeves claims to have had lunch with The Wachowski Brothers over Christmas during which they briefed him on a two-film treatment they had finished for the Matrix franchise.
Obviously, keep in mind that the purported eye-witness account of the “Q & A” is, as of yet, unconfirmed. Nevertheless, if you’d like to here more about what Reeves purportedly had to say about reprising his role as Neo, hit the jump. [Update: It looks as if the lead in the write-up has been proven true as sources from both the Reeves camp and the London International School of Performing Arts claim the "Q & A" never even happened.]

You can keep your Snakes on a Plane. I want to see Samuel L. Jackson torture Michael Sheen for 97 minutes. Judging by the trailer for Unthinkable, it looks like I’ll get my wish. It looks like someone watched 24, cut out everything else about the show and just took the torturing-people-for-information part.
Samuel L. Jackson plays a mystery man named “H” who’s tasked with torturing the shit out of a terrorist named Younger (Sheen) in order to find three nuclear explosives placed around the U.S. The film also stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Brandon Routh, and the sounds of your laughter as you watch this trailer. Hit the jump to check it out. Apparently, it’s a straight-to-DVD flick (book) for the UK (double-boo). I want to see it. Maybe Jackson will take Sheen up on a plane and torture him with snakes. Oh, to dream the impossible dream…

By now you’ve probably noticed that Steve got an ungodly amount of material from this year’s American Film Market (AFM). The place where buyers and sellers do business to bring you the films you’ll hopefully be seeing in the near future, AFM has tons of artwork and synopses which are used to promote films but which we will use to bring you news on these films.
Below you’ll find images and synopses for From Time to Time, Love Hurts, The Cup, The Devil’s Double, The Horseman, The Steal Artist and Wedding Bros. Hit the jump to check them all out. Also, all the synopses are copied down directly from the original materials with no editorial alterations.
