Two Trailers and a Poster for BAD ASS Starring Danny Trejo

Two trailers and a poster have been released for Bad Ass starring Danny Trejo.  The plot focuses an old guy (Trejo) who becomes an Internet sensation when he beats up a couple of thugs on a commuter bus.  However, he goes on a rampage after his best friend is murdered and the cops don’t do anything about it.  That second part isn’t mentioned in the either trailer.  The trailers are simply: Danny Trejo is old and he kicks the shit out of people.  I have no problem with that, and I doubt this will be another misdirect like Machete.  As a character actor, Trejo has always carried the mantle of “Bad Ass” so it’s only fitting that he should star in a movie with the same title.  You would have to be a bad ass to wear a fanny pack and still come off as threatening.

Hit the jump to check out the trailers and poster.  The film also stars Charles S. Dutton and Ron PerlmanBad Ass opens April 13th.

FAME (1980) and FAME (2009) Blu-ray Reviews

Fame movie image slice (1).jpg

What may be most shocking about the 2009 remake of Fame is that it really is a remake. And with the release of both the 1980 original and remake now on Blu-ray, a quick compare and contrast can be done. Both films follow a group of students (in 1980, Maureen Teefy, Irene Cara, Paul McCrane, and Barry Miller are the stand outs, in 2009, it’s Kay Panabaker, Naturi Naughton, Walter Perez, and Paul Iacono)  through their four years at a prestigious New York performance arts school where they learn to act, sing and dance. My Reviews of both versions of Fame after the jump.

Legion movie poster slice.jpg

A few weeks ago I got to see about twenty minutes from Screen Gems upcoming movie Legion.  While I didn’t see enough footage to say if the final film is going to be worth our time, one of the clips they showed us was great, and it just so happens Screen Gems released a clip from the scene today.  Since I’d rather not spoil it, hit the jump and check it out.  But I will say it involves a grandma named Gladys…

New Images from LEGION Plus Steve Watches 20 Minutes of the Film

Last week I went to Sony Studios for a set visit on Priest.  While I’m embargoed from saying anything on that film, while I was there, we were shown around 20 minutes from Screen Gems upcoming Legion, and we were also provided a number of new images from the film.

If you’re not familiar with Legion, it’s a supernatural action thriller where an out-of-the-way diner becomes the unlikely battleground for the survival of the human race.  When God loses faith in Mankind, he sends his legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse.  Humanity’s only hope lies in a group of strangers trapped in a desert diner and the Archangel Michael (Paul Bettany).   Legion also stars Dennis Quaid, Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, Kate Walsh, Adrianne Palicki, Charles S. Dutton and Willa Holland.

See Paul Bettany and the Saviors in the 6 New LEGION Banners

There haven’t been a ton of trailers this year that have genuinely put a smile on my face.  The red-band trailer for “Legion,” however, was one of them.  I don’t know if everything I smiled at was the desired reaction, however I smiled and that means I’m going to see the film.  Anyhow, some new banner images have just been revealed for “Legion,” and they look pretty decent. Amongst them Charles S. Dutton does not appear, and that doesn’t speak too well for the mortality of his character. Hit the jump to see them:

Fame movie image slice.jpg

Opening September 25th is the remake/reboot/reinvention of the hit 1980 movie “Fame”. The new one is similar to the original as it follows a group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts. The cast is made up of mostly unknowns and it’s directed by Kevin Tancharoen – who is making his feature debut. While the production was filming in Los Angeles last year, I did a set visit and my video interviews with the cast will be online next week. So until then, we’ve been given 8 clips from the movie and you can watch them all after the jump:
