Another trailer has been released for Guillermo Del Toro‘s Pacific Rim. The story is kicked off by the emergence of monsters (known as Kaiju) who start a war that devastates humanity. To fight back, humans build giant robots (known as Jaegers) that are controlled by two pilots. The latest trailer explains how the Jaegers work, but the main focus is the scale of the kaiji-vs-jaeger battles. Nothing is really spoiled here, and watching this in a YouTube player is almost a disservice to the size of the action. I still can’t wait to see this flick up on the big screen.

Pacific Rim owes a great debt to Japan. Director Guillermo del Toro‘s upcoming film draws from the country’s monster movies and manga, and in a new Japanese trailer, del Toro acknowledges these influences. Pacific Rim doesn’t look like a homage as much as it appears to simply be the loving offspring of some of Japan’s most beloved entertainment. There’s also some new footage lurking about in the trailer, so that’s worth checking out as well.

Guillermo del Toro‘s Pacific Rim had a presentation at this year’s WonderCon, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. They showed off plenty of new footage in a new trailer for the upcoming giant-monsters-vs-giant-robots flick, and now that trailer has landed online. As Charlie Day‘s character says, it’s “2,500 tons of awesome.” The new trailer provides a lot more info on the story, but it’s the visuals that will really blow people away. I felt bad watching it on my computer monitor because this is a movie that clearly demands to be seen in theaters.

The upcoming comedy sequel Horrible Bosses 2 won’t be the only Bosses reunion happening in the near future. Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis have signed on to star in the Universal Pictures thriller One Night on the Hudson, with Bosses director Seth Gordon attached to take the helm. The story centers on a straight-laced rookie cop and his jaded veteran partner as they are tasked with transporting a federal witness from New Jersey to Manhattan, only to encounter a number of obstacles along the way. Gordon will be working from a spec screenplay by T.J. Fixman Hit the jump for more.

Aaanndd… they’re back! Made at around $35 million and grossing north of $209 million worldwide, it’s no joke calling Seth Gordon‘s 2011 workplace comedy Horrible Bosses a hit. Starring Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudikis as down-trodden buds who plot to kill their maniacal bosses, studio New Line justifiably wanted a sequel despite the premise feeling somewhat sequel proof. Well, when there’s a will, there’s a way as the principal cast will return for Horrible Bosses 2. Though when that will involves hefty sums of money for the film’s stars, sometimes everyone involved has to wait. And now, after more than a half a year of negotiations things look bright for more “boss-bashing.” Hit the jump for more.

Warner Bros. has put together a new trailer for Guillermo del Toro‘s Pacific Rim for Qualcomm’s presentation at CES 2013. The story is kicked off by the rise of monsters (known as Kaiju) from the sea who start a war that devastates humanity. To fight back, the humans build giant robots (known as Jaegers) that are controlled by two pilots. We here at Collider support a movie that gives Del Toro $200 million dollars to design sea monsters and giant robots that fight each other. The trailer delivers on that promise with new footage.
Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Max Martini, Rob Kazinsky, Clifton Collins Jr., and Diego Klattenhoff star. Pacific Rim opens July 12, 2013. To learn more, check out Del Toro’s commentary on the first trailer. Watch the CES trailer after the jump.

The first trailer for director Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim has been released. The story finds humans towards the end of a losing battle against giant monsters called “Kaiju.” In order to combat the creatures, humans have developed their own giant human-controlled robots called “Jaegers.” Del Toro proves in this one little trailer that there’s enough room on screen for massive robots fighting giant monsters. Bring it on!

It looks like director Guillermo del Toro’s much-anticipated Monsters vs Mecha movie, Pacific Rim, is about to get a graphic novel companion. Penned by Travis Beacham (Clash of the Titans), the same screenwriter behind the feature, the graphic novel will be put out through Legendary Comics and will be available before the film’s July 12th, 2013 release date, as its story is a prequel of sorts. Del Toro talks about the decision to release the comic as a prequel rather than adapt the movie after it debuts. See what the director had to say, along with a brand new poster for Pacific Rim after the jump.

Since first debuting footage at this summer’s Comic-Con, director Guillermo del Toro has maintained “radio silence” on his upcoming monster movie Pacific Rim. He stated at Comic-Con that they wouldn’t be breaking that silence until the holidays (ie. when the first trailer debuts in front of The Hobbit), but today a few new images have hit the web to hold fans over. The story finds humans towards the end of a losing battle against giant monsters called “Kaiju.” In order to combat the creatures, humans have developed their own giant human-controlled robots called “Jaegers.” In this batch of images, we see more of Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba in their robot pilot uniforms as well as a peek at some of the destruction that will be on display in the film.

Though everyone expected the Comic-Con crowd to go crazy when people like Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro took the Hall H stage for panel presentations last week, the person who actually got some of the loudest applause was Pacific Rim actor Charlie Day. Yes, there are a large number of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans at the Con, but Day is also insanely funny and an all-around awesome guy; it’s not hard to see why he’s so well liked. He shined as one of the leads in one of last year’s best comedies, Horrible Bosses, and last week at Comic-Con Steve got the chance to speak with the actor for a bit.
During their brief conversation, Day talked about del Toro’s atypical approach to CGI in Pacific Rim and gave an update on the upcoming Horrible Bosses sequel. Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

Guillermo del Toro is an established, Comic-Con favorite, but that doesn’t mean watching him participate in a panel gets any less entertaining. The guy is incredibly affable, genuinely funny, and he curses like a sailor. It’s been four long years since his last directorial effort (Hellboy II), but he’s finally back with a new film, and it’s a biggie. Pacific Rim is a true monster movie, as the pic centers on a battle between gigantic, human-manned robots called Jaegers and massive creatures called Kaiju.
We got our first look at the truly epic footage Saturday in the 6,500 seater Hall H at Comic-Con 2012. Hit the jump to read my full recap of the panel.

Fans of visionary director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth) have probably heard about his upcoming project, Pacific Rim, in which human-piloted robots battle monstrous creatures. The premise basically combines two of my favorite things: Godzilla movies and Japanese mecha anime. So it’s great to hear that del Toro had a blast making this movie, calling it “the best creative experience [he's] ever had in Hollywood.” As I’m in awe of his creative vision in his previous exploits, that quote has a lot to live up to. Del Toro had more to say on Pacific Rim, which stars Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman, which opens July 12th, 2013. Hit the jump to check out his comments.

Director Guillermo del Toro finally has a new directorial feature film set for release next year. He spent quite a while preparing to direct The Hobbit before leaving when he thought the film would be held up in MGM’s legal troubles for years, then he started prepping At the Mountains of Madness with Tom Cruise only to have Universal pass on the project in favor of things like Battleship. All’s well that end’s well, as del Toro recently wrapped his first directorial effort since Hellboy II: The Golden Army, a monster movie called Pacific Rim.
Little details have been known about the plot for Pacific Rim other than the fact that del Toro promises “the finest fucking monsters ever committed to screen” and the film involves battles between human-manned robots and monsters. A rumored plot synopsis surfaced back in March of 2011, and now Warner Bros. has released an official synopsis for the film that seems to confirm much of that earlier premise. Hit the jump for the full synopsis.

I placed Horrible Bosses on my Top 10 of 2011 because not only was it hilarious, but because it had staying power. New Line Cinema is now moving forward on a sequel and have re-hired original writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. According to THR, Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis are also expected to return, and New Line is also trying to bring back director Seth Gordon. I’m glad Daley, Goldstein, and possibly Gordon are returning, but what sells me on a sequel is brining back the Bateman, Day, and Sudeikis. I don’t mean to diminish the work of the screenwriters or director, but Horrible Bosses works because of the chemistry between those guys. I have no idea where a sequel could go, but as long as the lead trio is back, I’ll stay interested.
Bosses was a strong hit with a worldwide gross of $209 million off a $35 million budget. Daley and Goldstein have stayed hot with their screenwriting; the duo was hired to pen the sequel to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and they also wrote the upcoming comedy Burt Wonderstone starring Steve Carell and Jim Carrey.

After starting strong in September, but fizzling out this past weekend with a mostly poor episode with host Anna Faris (musical guest Drake was actually funnier in the couple sketches he appeared in, like this fantastic SNL Digital Short), it looks like Saturday Night Live has the potential to turn things around next month. NBC has just announced the next round of hosts for three back-to-back episodes in the first three weeks of November.
On November 5th, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Charlie Day will host for his first time with musical guest Maroon 5 followed by Emma Stone taking the stage with musical guest Coldplay on November 12th, and finally Jason Segel makes a long awaited debut on the late night sketch series with musical guest Florence + the Machine. And considering The Muppets is the big reason for Segel showing up on SNL just in time for the film’s release, I’m betting that at least a few of our favorite Jim Henson characters will show up for some fun.
