DJANGO UNCHAINED Teaser Trailer to Play in Front of PROMETHEUS

django-unchained-poster-slice

If you needed another excuse to go see Ridley Scott’s Prometheus next month, how about this: the first teaser trailer for Django Unchained will play in front of it.  Marketing for the sci-fi pseudo-prequel to Alien has been relatively slow and steady (then again, everything is relatively slow and steady compared to The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises), but we did recently post two new featurettes and a clip in addition to the somewhat spoilery trailer.  All just part of the buildup to the June 8th release right around the corner. Django Unchained, on the other hand, won’t open for more than six months after Prometheus, but that doesn’t mean we’ve been resting on our laurels.  Hit the jump to see a recap of all of our previous and continuing coverage on both films.

The release date for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is so damn close, but we’ve still got nearly two weeks to go.  It’s been a tough road of anticipation, but the finish line is in sight, folks.  In the meantime, two new featurettes for the film have gone online to whet fans’ appetites.  The first one, entitled “The Vision of Prometheus”, features Scott and some of the actors (including Guy Pearce) talking about the larger themes of the film, shooting in 3D, and more.  The second featurette focuses on the character played by Logan Marshall-Green and gives us a bit of insight into what his role in the film will entail.

A new clip from Prometheus has popped up online, but I’m not watching it.  If I didn’t have to review the movie, I probably wouldn’t mind viewing it, but I’m keeping my pledge to go as radio-silent as possible (it’s tough to avoid TV spots).  However, if you don’t care about going in cold, then you can check the clip out after the jump.

The film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Logan Marshall-Green, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Rafe Spall, and Guy PearcePrometheus opens in 3D on June 8th.

Charlize Theron Says MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Starts Filming June 2

Director George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road has been a long time coming.  The film was planned as a reboot of sorts for Miller’s Mad Max series that launched Mel Gibson’s career.  Pre-production began in 2009 with Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron set to star, and when filming was finally gearing up to commence in late 2010 on the ambitious, large-scale project, Miller announced that they would have to postpone production until 2012.  Torrential rains flooded the area in Australia where Miller was planning to shoot, so he decided to wait until the landscape returned to its desert-like nature.  Hit the jump for more.

Cool Interactive Trailer for SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN

Universal has released an excellent interactive trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman.  Rather than the awful trailer-for-trailer trend, I wish more studios would take the interactive approach where the trailer can lead to behind-the-scenes featurettes, concept art, and other fun stuff.  The trailer-for-trailer thing only makes me feel annoyed towards an upcoming film, but this interactive trailer makes me want to see SWATH even more.

New Featurette for PROMETHEUS Focuses on Charlize Theron’s Character

A new featurette for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus has gone online.  This clip focuses on the character played by Charlize Theron, and some tantalizing new footage is intercut with Theron talking about her character and getting to work with Scott.  The actress explains that her character, Vickers, works for The Weyland Company and is basically overseeing the mission that the team aboard Prometheus is undertaking, but she’s also a bit of a hard ass.  We really haven’t seen much of her character in the previous trailers, so this featurette gives us better idea of what to expect from Theron once the film hits theaters.

New Spoilery TV Spot for PROMETHEUS

A new TV spot for Prometheus has gone online, and it’s apparently loaded with spoilers.  Though I’d normally watch whatever clip or spot I’m reporting on, more than a few others have pointed out that this TV spot is apparently chock-full of spoilers, so I’d rather not ruin my moviegoing experience for the sake of viewing a piece of marketing.  That said, if you’re unbothered by spoilers then by all means have at this new spot.  We shared the first clip from the film yesterday, and it was a fairly benign scene from the film that simply showed the ship landing on the death alien planet.

7 Clips from SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN Starring Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: May 12th, 2012 at 4:32 pm

We’ve been provided with seven clips from director Rupert SandersSnow White and the Huntsman to share with our readers.  The film takes an epic and dark approach to the classic Snow White tale, with Kristen Stewart starring as the titular heroine who trains alongside the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) in order to defeat the evil queen (Charlize Theron) who is bent on destroying the young beauty.  I’m a big fan of what we’ve seen thus far, and I’m eager to see Sanders’ fantastical and gritty visuals on full display once the film hits theaters.

The latest issue of EW appears to have a big story on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, as the magazine has posted 17 new images from the film for our viewing pleasure.  In addition to film stills and candid on-set shots, we also get a few “photoshoot”-style images, including Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron and Noomi Rapace goofing around in their spacesuits (this is now my favorite Prometheus image ever).  We recently learned that the film will officially be rated R (rejoice!), and a new featurette entitled “Origins” went online yesterday for those of you who are strangely still on the fence about this one.

Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron Square Off in New SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN Clip

A new clip from director Rupert SandersSnow White and the Huntsman has gone online.  We already knew from the trailers that this film has a very different tone than that other Snow White film that opened this year, Mirror Mirror, and this clip only reinforces the “dark and gritty” aspect of the film.  Chris Hemsworth’s Huntsman is being told asked by Charlize Theron’s Queen to hunt down that pesky Snow White, but this scene could seamlessly be dropped into an episode of Game of Thrones without seeming out of place.  Sanders has crafted a gritty fantasy take on the classic tale, but there’s also an air of the mystic or magical the permeates throughout.  I’m a big fan of what we’ve seen so far, and I’m eager to see an action/adventure film that has an intriguing and different visual style that stands out amongst the other summer fare.

Academy Award-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood (Alice in Wonderland) puts her amazing vision and expert craftsmanship to work bringing to life the characters of Snow White and the Huntsman and presenting them to modern audiences through astonishingly intricate and carefully assembled designs.  In a film where symbolism is crucial to the story and wardrobe is integral, Atwood’s contributions blend seamlessly into a world that’s both fantastical and realistic and speaks volumes about the characters.  We sat down with Atwood at a roundtable interview to talk Snow White and the Huntsman and why it was an amazing treat for her to design costumes that reflected the themes of the iconic story and helped the actors transition into the world of their characters.  She also discussed her upcoming film, The Thin Man, directed by Rob Marshall and starring Johnny Depp.  Hit the jump to read our interview.

A new featurette for Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus has gone online.  While I don’t think the three-minute trailer laid out any major spoilers, I feel like we’re getting to the advertising-spoils-everything point, so I’m going dark on the movie.  I can’t tell you what’s in this new featurette except that it’s entitled “Origins”.

Hit the jump to check out the featurette.  As we reported earlier this week, the film will be Rated-R for “sci-fi violence including some intense images, and brief language.”  The movie stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Rafe Spall, Sean Harris, Logan Marshall-Green, Guy Pearce, and Charlize TheronPrometheus opens in 3D on June 8th.
