If you’re looking for stuff to do this summer, one thing that should be on the top of your list is a trip to the newly opened Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure. Prior to the official public opening on June 15th, Collider was invited to the grand opening celebration that was attended by many of the voice actors from Pixar’s two Cars films (including Larry the Cable Guy, Bonnie Hunt and Cheech Marin), along with Tom Staggs (Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts), Robert Iger (Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Co.) and John Lasseter (Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studio and Principal Creative Advisor for Walt Disney Imagineering), who all took the rides for a spin themselves. Hit the jump for more about what to expect from this $1.1 billion re-tooling and expansion at the Happiest Place on Earth.

Though there’s no touching the early wave of classic Disney animated features, when the studio reinvented its animation department in the late 1980’s they had a run of successful and impactful films that deserve to be shelved near those great works. 1994’s The Lion King is the best of that run (which arguably goes from 1989’s The Little Mermaid through to 1999’s Tarzan) and a film that captures much of the same terrain of those classics, but reimagines those stories in a way that feels fresh. It’s a crowning achievement, and the Diamond Edition Blu-ray presents the film in a pristine transfer. Our review of The Lion King on Blu-ray follows after the jump.

Hoodwinked Too! Hood Vs. Evil comes out during a time when unoffensive animated films just aren’t good enough anymore. For the film watcher, this is a great time with the likes of Pixar and Dreamworks upping the ante, with a few dark horses here and there and some old mainstays like Disney still staking a claim. Unfortunately, Hoodwinked Too isn’t a shining example of the current times. Instead, a bizarre plot, uninspired animation, and worst of all, a lack of more than a handful of laughs keep this sequel from pushing the genre forward. The shame is that there is some quality work done by some of the voice cast, but the rest of the film falls flat around them. Hit the jump for the full review.

One of the highlights of 2007′s Grindhouse was the fake trailer for Machete. Shortly after the film got released, Robert Rodriguez’ started talking about turning the trailer into a feature film with Danny Trejo reprising the role of Machete - a Mexican ex-Federale with a gift for wielding a blade. With fandom excited, production moved ahead.
Since filming wrapped over a year ago on the feature, we’ve gotten a few trailers and a lot of images. But with the film getting released on September 3, we’ve finally been given our first real look at the movie as Fox has provided us with four clips and you can check them out after the jump – along with the synopsis. With a cast that includes Danny Trejo, Steven Seagal, Robert De Niro, Cheech Marin, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Don Johnson, and Jeff Fahey, I can’t wait to finally see the finished film next month:

20th Century Fox has unveiled a new red band trailer for Robert Rodriguez’s Machete, and it depicts just as much debauchery as you’ve come to expect the revenge flick. Danny Trejo stars, with a crazy supporting cast of Steven Seagal, Jeff Fahey, Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, Jessica Alba, and Lindsay Lohan. You can check out the trailer after the jump, but be warned that it’s immensely NSFW.

20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for Machete and you can check it out after the jump. The reason the trailer is hitting the net today is it’s attached to prints of Predators (which I really enjoyed). If you remember, for Cinco de Mayo, a special “Illegal” trailer for Machete hit the net. While the new trailer is decent, I thought the first one was much better as it sold what the movie is really about. Either way, I’m super excited for the movie and can’t wait to check it out in early September. Judge the trailer for yourself after the jump:

Robert Rodriguez has released a special “Illegal” trailer for Machete just in time for Cinco de Mayo. Based on the fake trailer that was attached in front of Grindhouse, Machete stars Danny Trejo as” a Mexican ex-Federale out to hunt down the corrupt politician (Robert De Niro) who betrayed him.” Written by Rodriguez and co-directed by Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis, Machete also features one of the most eclectic casts out there which includes Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, Lindsay Lohan, Don Johnson, Jeff Fahey, and Steven Segal. More Machete after the jump:

Developed out of a rather unusual circumstance, the action-thriller Machete, from directors Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis, started off as a trailer in the Rodriguez/Tarantino double-feature Grindhouse and, due to demand from fans, has now become a full-length film.
About a renegade former Mexican Federale (Danny Trejo) who roams the cities, towns and streets of Texas looking for work after a shakedown from a drug lord (Steven Seagal), Machete promises a high body count with a cast that includes Robert DeNiro, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Jeff Fahey, Don Johnson and Cheech Marin, as Padre Benito del Toro.
While at the press day for Cheech & Chong’s Hey Watch This, due out on DVD on April 20th and for which we’ll have more on later, Cheech Marin talked a bit about his involvement with Machete.

The first images of horror icon Tom Savini in “Machete” have hit the net. If you don’t know who Savini is, click here. His resume is kind of insane. Anyhow, Savini is only one part of the eclectic cast which includes Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Steven Seagal, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson, and Jeff Fahey. You can see the pictures after the jump.

A few weeks ago we got some speculation on who might be in Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis’ upcoming “Machete”, based on Rodriguez’ fake trailer in “Grindhouse” and starring Danny Trejo (as all movies should). The previous news got 2-out-of-3 right which isn’t bad.
Hit the jump to find out which ones signed on along with the rest of the cast.
