Though Patton Oswalt saw his career blossom from his work on The King of Queens, I find myself much more satisfied with his work as one of the best stand-up comedians working today. However, a report from Vulture that mentions a Fox sitcom being developed around the laugh riot of a man is enough to get me excited about his return to a half-hour comedy series. Oswalt has teamed with comedian Scott Aukerman (former Mr. Show writer and Comedy Death Ray host) to spawn a comedy series following a man whose wife of 20 years hits the road, thus forcing him to get back into the dating world and live on his own. Sounds like your average sitcom, but with Oswalt and Aukerman’s comedic sensibilities, I’m more than looking forward to the final product.

Opening this weekend is Atom Egoyan’s new movie Chloe. Starring Julianne Moore, Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried, Chloe is an erotic thriller about a long married couple and a mysterious young woman. The movie is a remake of the 2004 French film Nathalie and it’s the first time Egoyan did not write the screenplay to a film he directed. While the film is getting great reviews, one of the reasons the movie is getting a lot of press is due to the amount of skin the two leading ladies show. Let’s just say not a lot is left to the imagination.
To help promote the film, I recently got to speak with Amanda Seyfried. She talked about the success of Dear John, presenting at this year’s Academy Awards. how nervous she was about playing Chloe, filming in Toronto, and a lot more. Hit the jump to watch the interview:

To help promote the film, we’ve been given 6 clips from the movie. Check them out after the jump and look for my interview with Amanda Seyfried in the next day or two:

Speaking with Steve at the press junket today for Atom Egoyan’s upcoming erotic thriller Chloe, star Amanda Seyfried clarified that she was only in negotiations to star in Catharine Hardwicke’s Girl with the Red Riding Hood. When she spoke with Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet at last Sunday’s Academy Awards, it sounded like she was definitely going to star in the project. However, she made it clear to Steve that while she wants to do the film, no papers have been signed. Seyfried also mentioned that she’s been offered a number of upcoming projects and in addition to the possibility of her doing Red Riding, we could be hearing about other films she’s attached to very soon.

Earlier in the month we featured an international red band trailer for Chloe, the new film from director Atom Egoyan starring Amanda Seyfreid, Julianne Moore, and Liam Neeson. Now Sony Pictures Classics has released an official green band trailer that is decidedly less European; that is to say, it features nearly all the same scenes but none of the nudity. From the very tense footage on display, Chloe looks to be an escalating cat-and-mouse thriller infused with lust and betrayal a la Fatal Attraction. Seyfreid seems perfect for her assigned role of seductress, given her uniquely lovely features, while Moore and Neeson are sure to bring gravitas to their potentially melodramatic roles. More after the jump:

A red band international trailer for Amanda Seyfried’s latest film Chloe, a sexual thriller in the Unfaithful/Fatal Attraction vein also starring Julianne Moore and Liam Neeson. Seyfried portrays the titular character, a sexy call girl hired by Moore’s character to find out if her huband (Neeson) is cheating on her. Oscar nominated director Atom Egoyan (The Sweet Hereafter), who has explored this sort of subject matter before in other films such as Exotica, seems like a good fit for this taut thriller.
After Moore’s character hires Chloe to seduce her husband to find out if’s in fact cheating on her, Chloe becomes increasingly fatuated with the family and becomes a little too obssesed. It’s nice to see Seyfried gravitate towards more mature roles, and the presence of Moore and Neeson would seem to elevate the film beyond the typical sexual cat and mouse games fare.

January brings us the fourth season of HBO’s Big Love, but it may be the last to feature cast member Amanda Seyfried on a regular basis according to TV Guide. Seyfried plays the eldest of eight children of a polygamist family in suburban Utah, and will be written off the show in the eighth episode of the season.
The show’s creator, Will Scheffer, had this to say, “She’s been exploring her movie career for a couple of years now, and we’ve been giving her a lot of room to do that. I know having a commitment to a show for six months definitely cuts into her ability to pursue that career.” Just so there’s no confusion, Scheffer continues, “She’s moving away”. Hit the jump for what effect this may have on the show.

Here’s some inside baseball about Hollywood that your average moviegoer may not know: movies do not get made solely from investors or studios nor do they make money solely from domestic box office. A large majority of films, especially true indie films (i.e. no name stars), require the sale of their foreign distribution rights to finish the film they’re selling or to secure a profit that will provide investors with a good return on their investment. However, films with name actors like Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Val Kilmer, and Christopher Walken also have to play this game. Some movies do it by creating unofficial posters and after the jump, we’ve featured six of these posters plus synopses for films with name actors but are still trying to secure funding. However, this is no guarantee that these films will ever get made and just because someone made up a poster, doesn’t mean some kindly, foreign investor is going to put in his euros or yen so hit the jump and see if you would bet on these movies.
