The Muppets has been a big hit with critics and while it couldn’t beat out Twilight at the box office over Thanksgiving weekend, Kermit and the gang are expected to rise to #1 this weekend when there will be no new wide releases. But when you go to see the movie (if you haven’t seen it already), you should know you’re not watching the original ending. Hit the jump to find out how the movie originally wrapped up along with details on some other deleted scenes. Obviously, there will be spoilers.

We all know the Muppets. They may not be as ubiquitous and popular as they once were, but we know them and we love them because they’re delightful characters who appeal to kids and adults alike with their mixture of slapstick, strangeness, satire, and singing. The Muppets‘ director James Bobin and co-writers Nicholas Stoller and Jason Segel (the latter of whom also co-stars) never forgot what makes Jim Henson‘s creations so special and this deep respect creates a movie that will introduce Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and the whole gang to a new generation, and make the older generation fall in love with the Muppets all over again.

Disney has sent over 3 new clips from The Muppets. In the movie, Gary (Jason Segel), Mary (Amy Adams), and new character Walter seek to reunite the Muppets to raise $10 million to save the Muppet Theater from nefarious oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper).
I caught a screening last night and while I’m embargoed from saying too much, I’m hoping Disney won’t be mad when I tell you that The Muppets was everything I hoped it would be and more. It’s one of my favorite films of the year and it not only made me laugh, it also made me cry. If you were nervous about the movie…don’t be. It’s a huge home run. The Muppets opens November 23rd. Circle your calendars. Hit the jump for the clips and look for new interviews with the cast soon.

We’ve already seen a slew of trailers for The Muppets, but this is really one marketing campaign that’s impossible to tire of. Today the final parody trailer for the film was released, and it sees the loveable Muppets take on films like Paranormal Activity 3, Puss in Boots, and the one we’ve all been waiting for: Twilight. There’s actually not a ton of new footage in this trailer (which I’m fine with), but the small parody bits are cute. Though all the trailers and posters from the movie have been fun, I’m ready to finally see the movie.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film stars Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Rashida Jones, and Chris Cooper. The Muppets opens November 23rd.

Being a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction is just one of many good ways to get your writing noticed. Luckily for Jonathan Franzen, his National Book Award-winning novel The Corrections has been picked up by the capable folks at HBO. Now, screenwriter Noah Baumbach (Greenberg) and producer Scott Rudin (The Social Network) have some equally capable actors to work with. Dianne Wiest (In Treatment) has landed the female lead of Enid Lambert and may star opposite Chris Cooper (Adaptation) who is in negotiations to play her husband, Albert.
The Corrections is a sprawling satire of a conservative Midwestern couple suffering from “empty nest syndrome,” among other things. The novel wanders through time, highlighting each of the family members’ successes and mistakes until finally converging at a point where they all begin to correct the individual courses of their lives. Disney has released a new trailer for The Muppets. There are no parodies this time around. It’s the plot and a strong reminder of why we loved The Muppets in the first place. The movie looks silly, adorable, slightly off-kilter, and appears to have a total understanding of the characters and how they work together.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film stars Jason Segel (who also co-wrote the script), Amy Adams, Rashida Jones, Chris Cooper along with all your Muppet favorites and a slew of celebrity cameos. The Muppets opens November 23rd.

A new trailer for The Muppets has gone online. The marketing campaign for the film has been a bit offbeat, as the first three trailers released for the film were parodies. First we got a romantic comedy, then The Hangover Part II, and the third trailer took on Green Lantern. These culminated in an actual theatrical trailer being released, but today it looks like we’re back to parodies as this new trailer evokes David Fincher’s adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Personally, this is probably my favorite parody they’ve done so far. It’s fantastically meta, really funny, and it also gives us a good look at a number of scenes from the movie in quick-cut form a la the Dragon Tattoo trailer. We see quite a bit of Chris Cooper, as well as a hint of some of the many, many cameos (Neil Patrick Harris, Sarah Silverman, etc.). Disney is calling it The Pig With the Froggy Tattoo.

Robert Redford has assembled quite the cast for his next directorial effort, and he’s just added two more terrific thesps to the roster: Stanley Tucci and Chris Cooper. The Company You Keep. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Neal Gordon, and centers on a former Weather Underground militant who goes on the run after an ambitious young journalist exposes his true identity. Redford will play the militant, while Shia LaBeouf is set as the young reporter.
Screen Daily (via The Playlist) reports that Tucci will play LaBeouf’s editor, while Cooper will take on the role of Redford’s brother who is forced to take his niece in when Redford’s character goes into hiding. In addition to Redford and LaBeouf, the cast now includes Susan Sarandon, Nick Nolte, Brit Marling, Julie Christie and Richard Jenkins. Filming is set to begin soon in Vancouver. A batch of new images from Disney’s The Muppets has been released. Following three different parody trailers, the first real trailer for the film was released the other day, and it looks fantastic. The Muppets stars Jason Segel, Amy Adams, and Chris Cooper and opens on November 23rd.
In case you missed them, check out Steve’s on-set interviews with Amy Adams, Jason Segel, co-writer Nicholas Stoller and director James Bobin, as well as his full set visit report video blog. Hit the jump to check out the new images.

Disney has released the first true trailer for The Muppets following three parody trailers over the last month. As a result, the trailer is accountable for more story, which plays on the Muppets’ return to movies after a hiatus. In the script by star Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, the Muppets stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever to raise the $10 million to save the Muppet Theater and reunite the gang.
Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, and Rashida Jones also star in the movie, directed by James Bobin (Flight of the Conchords). Zach Galifianakis, Jack Black, Ricky Gervais, Neil Patrick Harris, Emily Blunt, and many more are set for cameos. The Muppets opens on November 23. Watch the trailer after the break.

A new trailer for The Muppets has been released, and it follows along the lines of the previous two in that it’s a parody. The first trailer that was released was a bit of a head fake, as it begins as a romantic comedy before revealing the actual Muppets. The subsequent trailer was a little less inspired, but still cute, as it directly parodied the marketing for The Hangover Part II. This time, the Muppets take on Green Lantern, and it’s pretty damn amusing. I especially like Jason Segel’s meta joke towards the end.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer for “Being Green”. The Muppets stars Jason Segel, Amy Adams, and Chris Cooper. Written by Segel and Nicholas Stoller, the film opens November 23rd.

The first trailer for The Muppets has gone online. It takes a little while to get to the actual Muppets, but stick through the trailer for the first 50 seconds and you’ll get there. This is really more of an announcement trailer, and I’m not sure what will set this Muppets movie apart, but creating a trailer that basically goes “Surprise! Muppets!” isn’t a bad way to start. I’m slightly confused by the set-up of a fake Jason Segel/Amy Adams romance flick called Green with Envy, but I’ll go with it for now.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer for The Muppets and the poster for Green with Envy. The Muppets also stars Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones, and a slew of celebrity cameos. The film opens November 23rd.

Disney has released a new promo image for The Muppets, their upcoming reboot of the franchise co-written by and starring Jason Segel. The image shows Segel and new Muppet Walter super-excited to be standing next to each other. Of slightly more use is a synopsis for the film. The Muppets will have Walter, Gary (Segel), and Mary (Amy Adams) trying to save the Muppet Theater from nefarious oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper). Unfortunately, all of the Muppets have gone their separate ways and found new careers.
Hit the jump to find out what Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and the gang are up to by reading the synopsis after the jump. Also after the jump you can also check out the new (less exciting) image. The Muppets is due out November 23, 2011.

Having worked with director Julie Taymor previously on Titus, Alan Cumming signed on to be a part of her vision of Shakespeare’s The Tempest because he was excited to share scenes with acclaimed actor Chris Cooper, as well as the rest of the film’s amazing cast, which includes Helen Mirren, Djimon Hounsou and Russell Brand. In the film, the Scottish actor portrays Sebastian, part of the royal court that finds themselves shipwrecked on a magical island and who, along with Prospera’s (Helen Mirren) brother Antonio (Chris Cooper), plots to kill the grief-stricken King Alonso (David Strathairn) and overthrow him.
During this exclusive interview with Collider, done during the film’s recent press day, Alan Cumming talked about not really seeing his character as a bad guy, being a giggly schoolboy around Chris Cooper, working in the crazy heat of the lavic wasteland in Hawaii and better navigating Julie Taymor’s filmmaking style, this time around. He also gave an update about how his voice work on The Smurfs movie was going, in which he is playing Gutsy Smurf. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

The Muppets Movie will be making their debut at the beginning of the holiday season rather than the end. While the film was originally slated for Christmas 2011, Walt Disney Studios has announced that the movie will open on November 23, 2011. This new date will put The Muppets against Aardman’s animated film Arthur Christmas and Todd Phillips’ comedy Project X.
