Will Ferrell and Steve Carell are already planning a post-Anchorman 2 reunion.  The actors will topline the comedy Swear to God, which centers on a narcissistic hedge fund manager (Ferrell) who thinks he has seen God.  Warner Bros. picked the project up last summer with Ferrell set to star and Adam McKay (Step Brothers) onboard to produce and direct, but McKay will now be helming Anchorman 2 instead. With production on that glorious sequel set to begin early next year, Warner Bros. is keen on filming Swear to God next summer.  As such, they’ve tapped Justin Theroux to now step in and direct.

As we gear up towards one of the most heated elections in our country’s history, people are getting a little (OK, a lot) stressed out:  political pundits are viciously attacking one another—and Batman movies—in the press, candidates are slinging mud via increasingly-aggro campaign ads, and voters on both sides of the aisle seem poised to tear one another limb from limb.  Seems like we could all use a good laugh right about now, doesn’t it?  Good news is, Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis, writer Chris Henchy and director Jay Roach’s The Campaign is here to provide that much-needed dose of anger-deflating political comedy.

The Spanish-language pic Casa de mi Padre starring Will Ferrell is looking like it’ll be one of the more ridiculous comedies to come our way in quite some time, and now director Matt Piedmont is lining up his next project. Piedmont is teaming back up with Gary Sanchez and NALA Films to direct an adaptation of Frank Portman’s novel King Dork (in English). The story is set in 1987 and centers on two high school outsiders who bond over their love of classic rock. The protagonist finds his dead father’s copy of The Catcher in the Rye and his life changes forever. The book is described as “part mystery, part coming-of-age tale, and part critique on teenage popular culture.” Hit the jump for more.

Jason Sudeikis has joined Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis in Jay Roach‘s political comedy Dog Fight.  The movie, formerly titled Southern Rivals, is about rival politicians (Ferrell and Galifianakis) in a small congressional district in South Carolina (hence the original title).  THR doesn’t say what role Sudeikis will play but hopefully it won’t be the smarmy lothario he played three times this year (Hall Pass, Horrible Bosses, and A Good Old Fashioned Orgy).  The film also stars Sarah Baker (In Gayle We Trust) and Katherine LaNasa (Valentine’s Day).  Filming is set to begin in mid-November in New Orleans for an August 2012 release.

While it’s encouraging that Shawn Harwell (Eastbound & Down) and frequent Ferrell collaborator Chris Henchy (The Other Guys) wrote the script, I’m wary of Roach.  He botched the dark comedy in Dinner for Schmucks, but maybe he’ll fare better at politics since he directed the election dramas Recount and the upcoming Game Change.

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Eastbound & Down panel at the 28^th annual PaleyFest in Los Angeles. Since filming hasn’t started on the show’s third season, I wasn’t sure how much the cast would say about what’s coming up. Thankfully, they dropped a few clues and I also got to hear some great behind the scenes stories about one of TV’s best comedies.

The panel featured star/creator Danny McBride, director/creator Jody Hill, executive producer Chris Henchy and stars Ana de la Reguera, Katy Mixon, Steve Little and Michael Pena. Hit the jump for a full recap of the night’s events.

Paramount has set Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters for March 2, 2012.  The film spins the Grimm fairy tale to where Hansel and Gretel are now adults (played by Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, respectively) and bounty-hunters who specialize in the witch-killin’ business.  Famke Janssen will play the leader of the witches.  Will Ferrell, Chris Henchy, Adam McKay, and Kevin J. Messick will produce with Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola at the helm.

Currently, the only competition Hansel & Gretel will have that weekend is the animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax.  Both films are currently set to be released in 3D. [Deadline]

As part of the viral campaign for this summer’s Inception, the sci-fi mindbender directed by Christopher Nolan, Warner Bros. has sent out a manual for “Dream-Share” employees.  Though it’s covered in black ink to hide content that’s too top secret for those outside the inner circle, the handbook is separated into the following chapters:

• Specialists/Operatives
• Environment Creation
• The Dream/Waking World Relationship
• The Hostile Subconscious
• Warfare in the Dream
• Interrogation Techniques

Anyone who expected “Anchorman 2″ to be Will Ferrell’s next project with director Adam McKay (“Step Brothers”, “Talladega Nights”, “Anchorman”), I’m sorry to have to tell you…it’s still on the drawing board. However, while we all wait for more comedic greatness in the world of Ron Burgundy, Will tells me that he’s getting ready to work with Adam again this fall on a buddy cop movie called “The B-Team” – which Adam co-wrote with Chris Henchy.

The film is set to star Will and Mark Wahlberg as two desk cops that never get in on the action. Will’s character is fine with it, but Mark’s not. According to Will, “The B-Team” will be rated PG-13. Here’s what Will had to say:
