Chris Vance Talks TRANSPORTER: THE SERIES, Taking Over for Jason Statham, Becoming an Action Hero, the Physical and Mental Challenges of the Role and More

by     Posted 57 days ago

The adrenaline-charged Transporter: The Series, airing on TNT, centers on Frank Martin (Chris Vance, who is also an executive producer on the show), a professional transporter who is paid to pick up and deliver people or cargo from anywhere in the world.  He is the very best at what he does, but lives a roller coaster ride of action and suspense because he only handles the most difficult and dangerous and assignments.

During this exclusive phone interview with Collider, actor Chris Vance talked about what sold him on a Transporter TV series, how he likes being an action hero, being aware of the way Jason Statham established this character while also making it his own, the roller coaster of action, how this is both physically and mentally exhausting, and the various facets that the other characters also bring to the story.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

New Trailer for TNT’s TRANSPORTER: THE SERIES Starring Chris Vance

TNT has released a new trailer for their new show Transporter: The Series.  Like the films, the show centers on (played on the TV series by Chris Vance), an ex-Special Forces field operative who has taken to transporting precious cargo to make a living.  Judging by the trailer, this show should be very familiar to fans of the movies.  There are the car chases, the fancy clothes, the fistfights, the gun play, and the quips.  Considering the episodic nature of the premise, I’m surprised it took this long for it to become a TV show.  Andrea Osvart co-stars as a former CIA agent who organizes Martin’s missions (and teases as a love interest).

First Trailer for TRANSPORTER: THE SERIES Starring Chris Vance

Jason Statham owned the Transporter movie franchise with his rules, ass-kicking and charisma, but he’s handing over the keys for an iteration meant for the small screen.  The new Transporter: The Series centers on Frank Martin, an ex-Special Forces field operative who has taken to transporting precious cargo to make a living. While Statham made the role famous, Chris Vance (All Saints) will climb into the driver’s seat for the series.  The premise is series worthy, but without Statham, will it be enough?  Hit the jump to watch the first trailer for Transporter: The Series.
