Continuing his reign in the comedy world since his breakthrough performance in The Hangover (though he was extremely funny well before the summer comedy), master of hilarity Zach Galifianakis has just landed a first-look deal at HBO. He’s already had a home at HBO with a supporting role on Bored to Death, but now Deadline reports he’s kicking off his new deal at the cable network with a new comedy project with friend and fellow comedian Brody Stevens.
The two have been friends for ten years and Stevens has recently had small roles in both The Hangover and Due Date not to mention doing an online video or two with Galifianakis. The project will be some sort of comedy special served up as a mockumentary following Stevens as himself in the daily life of a comedian. Galifianakis will have appear in the project and if it ends up turning into a series, will continue to guest star.

Warner Catalog! Christopher Nolan is now the most beloved director of the fanboy set for realizing a dark and realistic take on the Dark Knight. For the critical community he was already championed for having directed one of the masterpieces of the 21st century with Memento, and now it seems both parties are coming together to celebrate Inception. Insomnia was Nolan’s transition film into the big leagues to show that he could handle a larger budget and big names. It’s more important as a transitioning film, than as an actual piece of art. Al Pacino stars as Will Dormer, a Los Angeles detective flown to Alaska to help hunt a possible serial killer (Robin Williams), only to accidentally shoot his partner (or perhaps not)?
This has little to do with Bruce Willis, who was at his peak with Tony Scott’s The Last Boy Scout, and biding time in Walter Hill’s Last Man Standing. The former has Willis’s Joe Hallenbeck paired with ex-football star Jimmy Dix (Damon Wayans) as they have to uncover the mystery of who killed Dix’s girlfriend (Halle Berry). Last Man Standing has Willis stepping into the role made famous by both Toshiro Mifune and Clint Eastwood as the hired gunman who gains or displays his conscious and destroys two rival gangs by playing them against each other. My review of all these films on Blu-ray after jump.

You’ve probably been waiting with baited breath for more news on the Marmaduke movie ever since Matt reported on it back in November, and the teaser trailer is finally here. The movie, based on the comic strip about a lovable Great Dane, stars Owen Wilson as the voice of the titular dog. Fergie, Emma Stone, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan, Damon Wayans, and Marlon Wayans will supply additional voices, while Judy Greer, Lee Pace, and William H. Macy will play the roles of Marmaduke’s family.
The trailer is about what you’d expect. Although, I did chuckle at the nonsensical pop culture reference that opens the trailer. And I think I could get behind a talking dog movie where the talking dog breaks the fourth wall, if that style continues beyond the trailer. With a stellar cast, if there’s any chance this movie could be good, I’m all for it. Form your own thoughts after the jump. Marmaduke is slated to hit theaters on June 4, 2010.

When you film on the streets of New York City and you’ve got huge stars like Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson involved in the film, you’re going to get a lot of people taking pictures and video of whatever you’re doing. And that’s what happened the other day on the set of director Adam McKay’s “The Other Guys”, as people snapped pictures of the two filming an action scene that involved destroying an amazing car. If you don’t mind some minor spoilers, hit the jump to see what they were filming and you can also watch a video of a separate stunt from the movie which had some people jumping off a building.
