A film adaptation of the comic The Nye Incidents is moving along, with Todd Lincoln (The Apparition) set to direct. The comic, created by Whitley Strieber and Craig Spector, is set in the world of alien abductions and centers on a medical examiner hunting down a serial killer committing crimes in the alien abductee community. Unfortunately, Bill Nye the Science Guy is nowhere to be found. Strieber will be involved as a consultant on the film, and Heat Vision reports that the approach is to make an “anti-alien invasion” movie, with the tone never veering into X-Files territory while remaining terrifying.

Daniel Alter is producing the adaptation for RKO. They’re currently looking for a writer to work with Lincoln on the project. Hit the jump to read a synopsis of The Nye Incidents.

Wayne Kramer to Direct KANE & LYNCH?

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: May 27th, 2010 at 3:26 pm

Director Wayne Kramer (Running Scared) is reportedly in talks to helm the upcoming adaptation of the video game Kane & Lynch.  Stunt Coordinator Simon Crane was set to make his directing debut on the film, but according to Latino Review, “it wasn’t working out” with the studio.  An offer then went out to F. Gary Gray (Law Abiding Citizen) but he turned down the project.  Now they’re talking to Kramer and production is scheduled to begin in August.

Based off the Eidos game and written by Kyle Ward, the film stars Bruce Willis as Kane, a mercenary who’s forced to team up with Lynch, a schizophrenic killer played by Jamie Foxx, in order to escape prison and find a stolen microchip.  Anyone who has seen Running Scared knows that Kramer would be a fantastic choice for this project.

Spanish Director Daniel Benmayor Might Helm HITMAN 2; Will Timothy Olyphant Return?

Timothy Olyphant Hitman movie slice

Spanish helmer Daniel Benmayor is in talks to direct Hitman 2 for 20th Century Fox.  While not a choice many would have guessed, Benmayor made a name for himself directing commercials for Renault, Mercedes, Heineken, Samsung and Sony PlayStation.  He recently made his feature debut on a Spanish movie called Paintball which is about a group of adrenaline junkies who get dropped in a forest for a paintball match but quickly discover someone is using real ammo.

While the first Hitman didn’t get rave reviews, the $30 million budgeted film made over $100 million worldwide.  It’s no surprise Fox wants a sequel.  The big issue for the studio is whether or not Timothy Olyphant will return as Agent 47.  That’s because the actor would have to shave his head and he might not want to, as he’s currently riding a wave of great reviews for his work on the FX series Justified.  More after the jump:

On tonight’s red carpet for the 2009 Scream Awards, I was able to speak with producers Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter about three of their upcoming projects: “Hitman 2″, “Kane & Lynch” and “Hack/Slash”. According to Askarieh and Alter, they just got the script for “Hitman 2″ and they’re turning it into the studio next week. When I asked them how it differed from the first film, Askarieh says it’s “far more action packed and it takes place in America.” Alter said, “it’s more of a genre film.” They hope to be in front of the camera in early spring or summer of next year.

Regarding “Kane & Lynch”, they said they’re filming in Louisiana in the spring and Bruce Willis is playing Kane. When I asked who would be playing Lynch, they said we’d find out soon, but then Askarieh told me he’s a British actor. I would assume we’re going to hear who he is any day. Finally, when we talked about “Hack/Slash”, Alter confirmed Fredrick Bond is the director and said it’s going to start early next year. No casting yet but Alter says we’re going to hear something pretty soon. Watch the full interview after the jump:
