First Trailer for Fox’s Spring 2012 Series TOUCH Starring Kiefer Sutherland

by Ethan Anderton    Posted: October 6th, 2011 at 5:10 pm

After making waves with eight seasons of the action thriller series 24, actor Kiefer Sutherland and Fox are back together for what looks like a promising new drama series that I wish would’ve debuted this fall instead of next spring. From Heroes creator Tim Kring comes Touch, a drama about a widower (Sutherland) whose 11-year-old mute son is seeing patterns in numbers. But what does it all mean? Looking like a mix of Alex Proyas’ Knowing and the mythology of Kring’s aforementioned superhero drama on NBC, a new trailer released straight from Fox really makes Touch look like a promising addition to Fox’s dramatic line-up in 2012. After the jump you can see the trailer for yourself as well as the series’ official synopsis.

The series was part of Fox’s upfronts presentation back in May, and now Fox has officially order 13 episodes of Touch, a new drama series starring Kiefer Sutherland, who makes his return to the network after eight seasons of 24. Tim Kring (Heroes) created the new series which will hit the air sometime in the spring of 2012. Director Francis Lawrence (Water for Elephants) is behind the pilot for the series which is said to have science and spirituality intersect with the hopeful premise that we are all interconnected, tied in invisible ways to those whose lives we are destined to alter and impact. David Mazouz, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Danny Glover also star. You can check out the full series synopsis after the jump.

New Trailer for ABDUCTION Starring Taylor Lautner

The second trailer for The Lautner Iden—er—Abduction has hit the web. The film pegs Taylor Lautner as an action hero and centers on a young man who’s out to uncover the truth as to why a baby photo of himself wound up on a missing persons website. While the first trailer focused on telling the story, this one plays much more like a fast-cut TV spot that’s very heavy on the action and light on dialogue. I think Lautner only speaks once. The supporting cast is pretty impressive, but I still have trouble taking Lautner seriously as an action star.

Directed by John Singleton, the film stars Lautner, Lily Collins, Sigourney Weaver, Danny Glover, Alfred Molina, Michael Nyqvist, Maria Bello, and Jason Isaacs. Abduction opens on September 23rd. Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

THE COLOR PURPLE Blu-ray Review

While some might regard Schindler’s List as Spielberg’s finest venture into hard-hitting drama, The Color Purple could certainly give it a run for its money. Up until this point, a filmmaker like Steven Spielberg taking on a serious drama like this might raise some eyebrows (no matter how much heart E.T. may have had), but now audiences have pretty much realized that Spielberg can do anything. And when you consider the fact that it was Spielberg, and not a director like Spike Lee, who took on the powerful racial issues and mostly tragic story of this film, that makes it all the more impressive.  My review of the Blu-ray after the jump:

Danny Glover Joining Kiefer Sutherland in Fox’s New Drama Series TOUCH

by Ethan Anderton    Posted: June 9th, 2011 at 10:08 am

Last month we learned that Fox was going to bring back their 24 star Kiefer Sutherland to the small screen in Touch, a new drama series from Heroes creator Tim Kring. Now TV Line has learned that Danny Glover has joined the cast of the series which follows a father (Sutherland) who discovers that his son (David Mazouz) can predict events before they happen. Glover will play a professor named Arthur DeWitt, an expert on children who has some special gifts when it comes to dealing with numbers. The new series doesn’t debut until midseason next year so we don’t have any images or trailers from the upfront presentations last month, but after the jump you can check out the extended series synopsis from Fox’s upfront presentation earlier this month.

First Trailer for ABDUCTION Starring Taylor Lautner

The first trailer for the action thriller Abduction, starring Taylor Lautner, has been released. Directed by John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood) the thriller centers around a young man who sets out to uncover the truth after finding a baby photo of himself listed on a missing persons website. While Lautner’s acting still seems a bit too ham-fisted to be taken seriously, the supporting cast is fairly impressive and some of the action sequences actually looked pretty cool. I understand Lautner’s desire to move on to bigger and better things post-Twilight, but the guy’s no Tom Cruise.

Abduction stars Lautner, Lily Collins, Sigourney Weaver, Danny Glover, Alfred Molina, Michael Nyqvist, Maria Bello, and Jason Isaacs. The film is set to be released on September 23rd. Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

First Image and Official Synopsis for ABDUCTION Starring Taylor Lautner

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: November 5th, 2010 at 1:22 pm

Since breaking out in a big way with the Twilight films, Taylor Lautner has been extremely busy on a litany of projects.  Today, straight from the American Film Market (AFM), we bring you the first image and an official synopsis of Lautner’s upcoming film Abudction, directed by John Singleton (Boys n the Hood).  The film is a thriller which centers around a young man who sets out to uncover the truth after finding a baby photo of himself listed on a missing persons website.   When we spoke to Lautner earlier this year, he spoke briefly about this project, but the synopsis here elaborates much more. Since previously telling you that Sigourney Weaver had joined the project, quite a few more impressive names have joined the cast. They include Lily Collins (pictured with Lautner), Danny Glover, Alfred Molina, Michael Nyqvist, Maria Bello, and Jason Isaacs.

This project actually sounds pretty interesting, and the talented John Singleton has rounded up a fine cast.  This seems like a smart move on Lautner’s part.  He’s able to take roles in the larger projects like Stretch Armstrong, but choosing to do a more dramatic film like this one shows that he’s not all about  the paycheck/flashy roles. Check out the image in high resolution and official synopsis after the jump. Abduction is set to hit theaters sometime in 2011.

UPDATE: We’ve been asked by the studio to remove the images. Sorry if you missed them.

Elisabeth Röhm (Heroes) joins the impressive likes of Sigourney Weaver and Maria Bello in the circle of female supporting players that surrounds star Taylor Lautner in Abduction.  The thriller follows Lautner as he “goes on the run after discovering that his parents aren’t his own when he sees his baby picture on a missing persons website.”  Röhm will play Lautner’s biological mother; according to Risky Business, the role was previously earmarked for Emily Mortimer.  John Singleton (Four Brothers) will direct from a script by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (The Day After Tomorrow) and greenhorne Shawn Christensen.

Tracy Morgan and Luke Wilson Interview DEATH AT A FUNERAL

Tracy Morgan and Luke Wilson interview Death at a Funeral.jpg

I’ve always wondered if Tracy Morgan is playing himself on 30 Rock, or if it’s all an act.  Also, I’ve seen Morgan on David Letterman and have always wondered if he’s pulling an Andy Kaufman with the way he acts…or if it’s really him.  Based on the Los Angeles press junket for Death at a Funeral, I’m going to say it’s not an act.

The reason I can say that is while waiting in a hallway for my interview with Tracy Morgan and Luke Wilson, I got to hear Morgan saying some of the craziest things during other interviews.  Most of them are not safe to print – let alone say on television.  While we couldn’t hear everything behind the door, we heard enough that every journalist waiting and a few publicists were laughing a lot.   Actually, I felt added pressure walking in to my interview, as I was hoping to get some wild and crazy answers.  Hit the jump to see if I did….

To help promote the film, I recently got to speak with James Marsden.  In the film, Marsden gets accidentally drugged and spends most of the film dealing with vivid hallucinations.  While the film is a comedy, we talked about how he found the right balance for his performance.  He also told me about some of his deleted scenes, and I asked him what’s up with Enchanted 2.  Check out what he had to say after the jump:

2012 Featurette – Tidal Waves

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: October 6th, 2009 at 8:32 pm

2012 movie image - slice.jpg

Yahoo Movies has released a new featurette from Roland Emmerich’s “2012″ called “How They Made the Giant Waves”. As you can guess from the title, it focuses on the special effects and how they created the huge wave that’s featured in the trailer. While the video is cool if you’re into visual effects, my favorite part is when the various people involved start talking about the script and being serious. Because, clearly, the script is the most important part of a Roland Emmerich movie. While people are clearly mixed on “2012″, I’m looking forward to shutting my brain off at the door, grabbing a popcorn, and having some fun watching the world explode. Check out the clip after the jump.
