Paul Walker is taking a break from the high-octane world of The Fast and the Furious to join the equally adrenaline-pumping heights of Parkour. Walker is currently in talks to star in Brick Mansions, the American revision of Banlieue 13 (District B13) with a script by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen (Taken). Besson co-wrote the original Paris-set film starring Parkour-creator David Belle (District 13: Ultimatum), who will reprise his original role in the remake.

Brick Mansions will be set in an American city, with Walker slotted to play an undercover detective tracking down a drug dealer who has stolen a weapon of mass destruction. The chase leads into the ghetto known as Brick Mansions, where he enlists help from Lino (Belle), who knows the streets better than anyone and isn’t afraid of the drug dealers. In 2004, District 13 was released.  The stylish action flick combined an urban dystopia, a corrupt government and parkour-heavy action set pieces.  Plus it was written and produced by action guru Luc Besson.  District 13 tells the story of Damien, an ex-elite soldier-turned-police officer and Leito, a good-hearted criminal from the projects and their attempt to keep the government from blowing up the crime-ridden, quarantined District 13.  Spoiler Alert: They do.  Fortunately for action fans, District 13: Ultimatum follows in its predecessor’s footsteps and maintains everything that made the first movie fun.  Hit the jump for the full review.

2004′s District B13 is such a silly film that you can but help just taking in the parkour action and just letting the plot do whatever.  I can’t remember the details of the plot or if the plot even had details.  I just know it involved two guys (played by Cyril Raffaelli and David Belle) who used impressive stunt work and martial arts to stop the destruction of the district.

Since the trailer for the sequel, District 13: Ultimatum leads off with the definition of the word “parkour,” I don’t think they’re caring much about plot this time around either.  That’s fine with me.  I’ll enjoy the crazy parkour action and then never watch the film again.  Just because the film looks disposable, doesn’t mean it’s not enjoyable.
