Paramount Pictures has released a new teaser trailer for director Adam McKay’s sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.  Much like the initial teaser trailer that was unveiled before the film even began production, this trailer doesn’t show any actual footage. In fact, it actually looks like it may have been shot at the same time as that initial teaser, but it’s no less hilarious.  We get individual greetings from Will Ferrell, David Koechner, Paul Rudd, and Steve Carell all in character, but unsurprisingly it’s Carell’s Brick who steals the show.  This movie cannot get here fast enough.

We interrupt your regularly-scheduled Mayan apocalypse plans to bring you a very important announcement: Paramount has set a release date of December 20, 2013 for Anchorman: The Legend Continues. The sequel to 2004′s Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy will feature the return of director Adam McKay and principal actors Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner. The story will once again center on some of San Diego’s zaniest newspeople, but will now see them amid the culture of the 24-hour news cycle. Oh and there will totally be a fully-choreographed musical number. Hit the jump for more. 

A new red band trailer for the spoof A Haunted House has been released online.  Co-writer and star Marlon Wayans looks to be trying to recapture some of that Scary Movie magic with this pic, as it basically combines elements from Paranormal Activity and The Devil Inside with the same type of parody comedy that the Wayans Brothers used to great success with the Scary Movie franchise.  The results here are fairly stale, as Scary Movie itself spawned numerous terrible copycat films that drove the parody genre into the ground.  There are one or two mildly funny moments in this sex joke-heavy red band trailer, but nothing to suggest that A Haunted House is a must-see comedy.

Remember when Scary Movie came out, made a bunch of money, and invaded the zeitgeist?  Well Marlon Wayans hopes you do, as the first trailer for his new Paranormal Activity spoof A Haunted House has landed online.  It’s looks exactly like you’d expect it to, but there are one or two chuckles sprinkled in between the fart jokes and screaming.  The film tackles the “found footage” craze, most prominently spoofing Paranormal Activity and The Devil Inside.  I’m interested to see if these kinds of comedies even appeal to moviegoers anymore.  Will audiences show up or have the endless Scary Movie sequels killed the horror spoof genre that the Wayans brothers practically invented?

With writer/director/star Dax Shepard’s new action rom-com Hit & Run opening in less than three weeks, we have a new TV spot to share with you today.  The film features Shepard as Charlie Bronson, a former getaway driver who enters into Witness Protection, but risks his anonymity when he offers to drive his girlfriend (Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles.  The duo find themselves chased by not only the Feds, but Charlie’s former criminal crew as well.  Also starring Tom Arnold, Bradley Cooper and David Koechner, Hit & Run opens August 22nd.  Hit the jump to check out the new TV spot.

If you enjoyed the first trailer for Dax Shepard’s action rom-com Hit and Run, you might like the new red-band trailer that just came out.  Shepard, who wrote and co-directed the picture with David Palmer, stars as a former wheelman for a gang of bank robbers.  When he exits the Witness Protection Program to drive his girlfriend (Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles, his old crew shows up and makes things a bit more complicated.  The red-band trailer features what you’d expect it to: gratuitous elderly nudity and a fair amount of rape jokes.

The film also stars Bradley Cooper, Kristin Chenoweth, Beau Bridges, David Koechner, Joy Bryant (Parenthood), and Ryan Hansen (Party Down).  Hit and Run hits theaters on August 24th.  Hit the jump to watch the NSFW red-band trailer.

Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention?  I’ve just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story.  I need all of you, to stop what you’re doing and listen: Christina Applegate has been confirmed to return in Anchorman 2!  So maybe my delivery isn’t as good as Ron Burgundy’s cannonball, but the punchline makes me happy just the same.  The male leads, including Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner were previously confirmed to return, as seen in these teaser trailers.  As recently as today, Celebuzz confirmed that Applegate would return as Veronica Corningstone, in a sequel set around a 24-hour news channel.  Look for Anchorman 2 to drop sometime in 2013.

In other sequel news, Victoria’s Secret model, Anne Vyalitsyna will be making her big screen debut in A Good Day to Die Hard when it opens on February 14th, 2013.  Hit the jump to check her out.

With twice the terror and double the D’s of the first film, Piranha 3DD (opening in theaters and available on VOD on June 1^st) sees the flesh-eating fish return to sink their razor sharp teeth into the visitor’s of The Big Wet Water Park.  This time there is more insanity, more blood, more boobs and even David Hasselhoff to add to all the zany fun.  The film stars Danielle Panabaker, David Koechner, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, Katrina Bowden, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Christopher Lloyd and Gary Busey.

At the film’s press day, I had the opportunity to speak with co-stars Danielle Panabaker and David Koechner about what they thought when they heard the title of the film, how things are bigger and more outrageous this time, the evolution of the piranha, more breasts, really committing to making the film funny and real, how they took the most outrageous of every take and put it in the movie, and what they each have coming up next.  Hit the jump to watch:

The first teaser trailers for director Adam McKay‘s Anchorman 2 has gone online.  While I love reporting on movie news, I can’t help but be a little jealous of Anchorman fans who will walk into The Dictator, and had no idea that Anchorman 2 was on the way (I’m working off the assumption these fans also missed Ron Burgundy’s announcement on Conan).  We don’t know what the plot of the sequel will be (it might involve the dawn of the 24-hour news cycle and diversity), but it will most likely contain more of the brilliant one-liners you heard in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and the ones you’ll hear in this trailer.  We’ve also included an exclusive teaser trailer from FunnyOrDie, which contains different dialogue.

If you’re a fan of Adam McKay‘s Anchorman, the last few months have been amazing.  Not only did Paramount suddenly greenlight the sequel after everyone involved thought it was dead, but the studio got McKay and the entire Channel 4 news team (sans Christina Applegate) to shoot a teaser trailer that will be attached to prints of The Dictator!

But it gets better.

In addition to the teaser trailer that should be online soon, Paramount has just released the first poster and it looks like the official title is Anchorman: The Legend Continues.  Hit the jump for more.

Though Anchorman 2 doesn’t begin production until next February, Paramount thought it’d be a nice idea to go ahead and shoot a short teaser trailer to drum up awareness.  As we first reported, the teaser will be attached to prints of The Dictator and it includes the entire Channel 4 news team (sans Christina Applegate).  Writer/director Adam McKay recently talked a bit about getting the gang back together to shoot the teaser and dropped a few hints about what to expect in the follow-up (no Ghost Rider, a Serpico beard, and either 3D or ½ D).  Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

A batch of new images from Piranha 3DD has gone online, but with a title like that one doesn’t really need much more elaboration in order to decide if the film is up his or her alley.  Yes, the images highlight lots of boobs and blood, but we also get new looks at stars David Hasselhoff and David Koechner.  Yesterday we brought you a new clip from the film with a nice Baywatch nod, which you can check out right here.

Though principal photography for the long-awaited Anchorman 2 isn’t scheduled to begin until next February, it appears that we’ll actually get our first look at the reunited Channel 4 news team much sooner than we thought.  We’ve been told by someone who caught an advanced screening of The Dictator that the Sacha Baron Cohen comedy is preceded by a brief teaser featuring the entire news team (sans Christina Applegate) talking about how excited they are to return.  Huzzah!  Hit the jump for more.

Dimension Films is doubling your pleasure with a second helping of boobs, blood and killer fish in this summer’s Piranha 3DD. For a while now, I thought the extra D was a cleverly disguised breast joke, but apparently it stands for “David,” as in David Hasselhoff. This new clip from the film features The Hoff in his oh-so-familiar role as a lifeguard.  Fans of the glory days of Baywatch will get a kick out of the segment and the humor aimed at an aging Hasselhoff is spot-on to what you can expect from Piranha 3DD.
