According to the origin story, each sector of space is protected by a Green Lantern, possessing a power ring that uses a powerful green energy to do anything within the limits of the user’s imagination and will power. When a new enemy threatens to destroy the balance of power in the universe, the fate of Earth lies in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected – a gifted and cocky test pilot named Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds).
During a press conference held at Comic-Con, the film’s star Ryan Reynolds was joined by co-stars Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Mark Strong to talk about what makes this character appealing to audiences, having to audition for the role, putting on the mask for the first time and juggling characters in the Marvel and DC universes. Check out what they had to say after the jump:

DC chief/comic writer Geoff Johns first teased the development of a live-action Blue Beetle television series in June. Since then we’ve seen stills from the test footage, and even a few isolated seconds of video, but nothing too substantial.
DC played the entire clip — depicting the Blue Beetle scarab transforming young Jaime Reyes — for an audience at Comic-Con, and have since posted it to Youtube. The future of the Blue Beetle on TV is still uncertain, but if you find such a possibility intriguing, you should definitely check out the clip after the jump.

While millions of kids around the world know the origin of Superman and Batman, I’d wager most of them don’t know they were originally created by DC comics a long time ago. But if director Jeffrey Blitz (Spellbound, Rocket Science, Lucky) and producer Sean Welch (he produced all three of Blitz’s movies) have their way, at this summer’s Comic-Con, a lot more people are going to know the history of DC comics.
The reason is at last week’s Sundance Film Festival, the two filmmakers told me they’ve just started work on a documentary about the history of DC Comics! While they just started rolling cameras last week, they said the plan is to premiere the movie at this summer’s Comic-Con. And if you’re nervous they’re doing this without the support of DC, Welch told me:
“DC Comics contacted us and asked if we would do this. Jeff and the director are comic book enthusiasts since they were kids and remain comic book enthusiasts. So yes, we have access to their archives, their material, their covers, their panels, the creatives and the executives in the DC world.”

Over the past few days I’ve been posting “7 Days with Producer Dan Lin”. As I explained in the previous articles, I spoke at length with the Sherlock Holmes producer about not only his latest film, but everything he has in development. Since the conversation ran so long, I’ve decided to break up the interview into many smaller parts. I’ve already posted what he said about the Lego movie and Gangster Squad, as well as his thoughts on the Terminator Salvation ending and what’s up with future movies, and yesterday was about the Bone and Tom and Jerry movies. For today’s article, I’ve got him talking about the Justice League movie, Suicide Squad, Hiding in Time, The Chaser and Stephen King’s It.

The deal isn’t done but it’s too sensational a story to get bogged down in the corporate legalese and business intricacies when it comes to discussing one of 2009′s biggest entertainment deals of the year. The $4 billion Disney-Marvel merger could have huge ramifications and while this is all speculation that is subject to further (and further, and further) reporting and interviews, I wanted to give my thoughts on this news because my thoughts are better than everyone else’s thoughts. My thoughts are magic.
