We only recently just saw a full trailer for the upcoming sixth season of the HBO series True Blood, and now the network has unveiled a large batch of high-resolution images previewing the drama to come.  In addition to giving us looks at fan favorites like Sookie (Anna Paquin), Eric (Alexander Skarsgard), Bill (Stephen Moyer), and of course Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten), these images also introduce us to a host of new characters played by the likes of Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner), Arliss Howard (Full Metal Jacket), and Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Friday Night Lights).

We’ve got a couple of casting stories to share this afternoon.  First up, Glenn Close, James Franco, and Brit Marling have been set to star in the adaptation of Tom Bailey’s novel The Grace That Keeps This World. The family drama centers on a father and his sons as they prepare for an upcoming hunting trip, and the familial divisions that are revealed as the events unfold.  Deadline reports that Azazel Jacobs (Terri) will direct from a script by Matthew Aldrich, but has no details concerning the characters that Close, Franco, and Marling will play.

Current showrunner and True Blood series adapter Alan Ball came on stage in Ballroom 20 to introduce a new trailer for the ongoing fifth season.  The panel for the popular HBO show inspired by the Charlaine Harris novels also featured cast members Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley, Deborah Ann Woll, Sam Trammell, Joe Manganiello and Kristin Bauer van Straten. The lively and hilarious panel not only teased events in the next season, but also touched on the new relationships that will be forged and acted as a memorial to Ball’s work on the series before he departs as showrunner at the end of the season.  Hit the jump for my panel recap and click here for our continuing Comic-Con coverage.

On Season 5 of HBO’s True Blood, actor Giles Matthey plays Claude, a mysterious fairy who has caught the eye of vamp Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll).  Distantly related to Sookie (Anna Paquin), he will be mentoring her in the ways of all things fairy, later on in the season.

During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Giles Matthey talked about his crazy audition for the hit TV show and how he had no idea what role he was actually auditioning for, how he caught up on the previous four seasons and became an obsessive fan himself once he was cast, that he loves meeting fans of the show that are as excited about it as he is, how he sees Claude as loyal and protective, and how much fun his introduction into the story was.  He also talked about what attracts him to a specific project and what inspired him to try his hand at acting, in the first place.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

HBO’s True Blood is back this Sunday, June 10th, at 9pm, and the show’s fifth season is sure to be full of bloody mayhem that will hopefully rectify some of last year’s lackluster performance.  As the number of magical creatures and love triangles (love-dodecahedrons, at this point) continues to increase, it may be hard to keep track of who’s alive, who’s dead, who came back and what kind of magic they possess.  Take a spoiler-filled refresher course after the jump to relive the last four seasons of True Blood, including some of the best, worst and weirdest surprises from Bon Temps over the last few years (or moments, if you’re on fairy time).

Frankly, I gave up on vampires a long time ago, and it takes a lot for me to get interested in them, and that includes the HBO series True Blood. However, we know that there are plenty of True Blood-thirsty fans out there clamoring for every bit of hype as we lead up to the fifth season premiere on June 10th at 9/8c. Therefore, you’ll be happy to know that in addition to the most recent trailer and teaser poster, we now have a batch of 12 character posters (with Anna Paquin, Alexander Skarsgard, Stephen Moyer and more) that have so much red on them they would make Shaun of the Dead blush.

Honestly, they’re not all that special, but for fans who have a favorite character (or enjoy seeing Christopher Meloni with fangs), they could make a cool iPhone background or something like that. Directors Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton scored a huge hit with Little Miss Sunshine, but had difficulty getting a follow-up off the ground.  The duo was attached to Will, which was set to star Paul Rudd and Zach Galifianakis, but the project fell apart.  There was also the possibility of the comedy The Abstinence Teacher starring Sandra Bullock and Steve Carell, but that fizzled out.  Then Faris and Dayton were attached to try and get the long-in-development Used Guys into production, but it didn’t happen.  Last year, they finally got a new movie in front of cameras.  The film, He Loves Me, stars Paul Dano as “a once-great novelist who is creativity blocked due to heartache and loneliness, only to be turned around when he writes his dream girl (Zoe Kazan) who then comes to life.”  The movie co-stars Annette Bening, Antonio Banderas, Steve Coogan, Elliott Gould, Chris Messina, and Deborah Ann Woll.

Today, Fox Searchlight sent out a press release announcing that the title had been changed to Ruby Sparks.  The studio also revealed an official synopsis and a release date.  Hit the jump for more.

A star has finally been cast in director Michael Suscy’s (Grey Gardens) Romeo and Juliet re-imagining Rosaline. Variety reports that Lily Collins (Abduction) is in early talks to star in the pic which is based on Rebecca Serle’s novel When You Were Mine. The period film tells the Romeo and Juliet story from the point of view of Rosaline, Romeo’s jilted ex-lover. The script was written by (500) Days of Summer scribes Scott Neustader and Michael H. Weber.

Hailee Steinfeld, Dave Franco, and Deborah Ann Woll had all been sought for roles in the pic, but apparently deals were never closed. Steinfeld’s was a curious case, as the actress is also starring as Juliet in another period Romeo and Juliet film from director Carlo Carlei. Collins (the daughter of drummer Phil Collins) gets her shot at a starring role this March in Tarsem Singh’s Snow White take Mirror Mirror. If she closes the deal on Rosaline, expect more casting news for the comedy soon. While I’m usually not high on the idea of more than one project from the same source material, I think Rosaline provides an interesting take on the story and Suscy has more than proved his talent behind the camera on HBO’s Grey Gardens. [UPDATE: Collins is in negotiations to play Juliet, while Woll and Franco have entered into negotiations to play Rosaline and Romeo, respectively.]

The cast of Fox 2000’s period comedy Rosaline is about to get very, very pretty. Hailee Steinfeld, Dave Franco, and True Blood star Deborah Ann Woll have been offered the three leading roles in the twist on the Romeo and Juliet story. Based on Rebecca Serle’s novel When You Were Mine, the film tells the Romeo and Juliet story from the point of view of Rosaline, the jilted lover that Romeo pines for in the beginning of Shakespeare’s play. The pic is set in the 16th century, but will feature modern dialogue. Variety’s report cautions that no deals have been made with Steinfeld, Franco, and Woll just yet, and the film is still waiting for a greenlight. However, the trio signing on would probably bode well for the film’s chances. Hit the jump for more details, including who the actors are in line to play.

A number of actors have been added to the cast of Fox Searchlight’s He Loves Me. Heat Vision reports that Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood), Steve Coogan (Tropic Thunder), Elliott Gould (Ocean’s Eleven) and Chris Messina (Vicky Christina Barcelona). The film stars Paul Dano as a struggling novelist who creates his dream girl only to have her come to life. Annette Bening stars as Dano’s mother, with Zoe Kazan playing his dream girl.

Woll will play Dano’s ex-girlfriend, but there’s no word on who the other actors are playing. Kazan wrote the screenplay and Little Miss Sunshine directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris are at the helm. Production is set to begin this month.

HBO has announced two extremely exciting panels that will appear at this year’s Comic-Con: Game of Thrones and True Blood. The cable channel’s new hit series Game of Thrones is making its first appearance at the convention. George R.R. Martin, who wrote the books off of which Thrones is based and serves as a producer/writer on the show, will be moderating the panel. Showrunners David Benioff and D.B Weiss will be joined by stars Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Jason Momoa and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will appear at the panel which is scheduled for Thursday, July 21^st, just days before season two begins production.

Additionally, Alan Ball’s True Blood is making its fourth consecutive appearance at the Con, with Ball and stars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley, Kevin Alejandro, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Nelsan Ellis, Joe Manganiello and Deborah Ann Woll scheduled to appear at the panel on Friday, July 22^nd. Summer is almost here which means it’s almost time for some steamy and bloody (though hopefully not at the same time) vampire encounters with the fourth season of True Blood on HBO. And to keep getting you excited we have an all-new trailer and poster for the season premiere coming on June 26th at 9/8c on HBO. This season seems to be getting really political with the vampire species attempting to win over certain sects of the human population and obviously witches are coming into play now too. To celebrate the huge success of the first True Blood comic series, All Together Now, cast members Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley and Deborah Ann Woll signed copies and greeted their adoring and devoted fans at the Barnes & Noble at The Grove in Los Angeles.

The New York Times best seller is a compilation of all six issues from the first series of comics, and it features the same romance, wry humor, intriguing mystery and suspense the show has become known for. Developed with show creator Alan Ball, along with series writers Elisabeth Finch and Kate Barnow, and co-written by David Tischman and Mariah Huehner, the story gives readers new insights into their favorite characters and helps fill the gap for fans, as they wait for Season 4 to premiere in June on HBO.

In this exclusive interview with Collider, co-stars Rutina Wesley and Deborah Ann Woll talked about why True Blood is the type of show that works in other mediums and what it was like to see themselves in comic book form. They also talked about how Season 4 is coming (they’re just finishing up shooting Episode 4) and gave a few hints about how things will be different for their characters. Darren Lynn Bousman, best known as the director of Saw II, Saw III, and (you guessed it) Saw IV, is the man behind the remake of the 1980 horror film Mother’s Day.  Rebecca De Mornay stars as the mother who helps her three fugitive sons take care of a few unwanted houseguests.  Bill caught Mother’s Day at Fantastic Fest and thought the result was “a surprisingly fun mixed bag.”

Jaime King, Deborah Ann Woll, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Shawn Ashmore, and  Matt O’Leary star alongside De Mornay in the April 1 release.  Bloody Disgusting found what they refer to as a “German sales promo,” but I wouldn’t judge if you’d like to call it a trailer.  We’ll post the official trailer if/when becomes available, but until then, this sales trailer provides plenty of insight into the look and plot of the film.  Watch it after the break.
