In 2004, District 13 was released.  The stylish action flick combined an urban dystopia, a corrupt government and parkour-heavy action set pieces.  Plus it was written and produced by action guru Luc Besson.  District 13 tells the story of Damien, an ex-elite soldier-turned-police officer and Leito, a good-hearted criminal from the projects and their attempt to keep the government from blowing up the crime-ridden, quarantined District 13.  Spoiler Alert: They do.  Fortunately for action fans, District 13: Ultimatum follows in its predecessor’s footsteps and maintains everything that made the first movie fun.  Hit the jump for the full review.

Trailer for DISTRICT 13: ULTIMATUM

2004′s District B13 is such a silly film that you can but help just taking in the parkour action and just letting the plot do whatever.  I can’t remember the details of the plot or if the plot even had details.  I just know it involved two guys (played by Cyril Raffaelli and David Belle) who used impressive stunt work and martial arts to stop the destruction of the district.

Since the trailer for the sequel, District 13: Ultimatum leads off with the definition of the word “parkour,” I don’t think they’re caring much about plot this time around either.  That’s fine with me.  I’ll enjoy the crazy parkour action and then never watch the film again.  Just because the film looks disposable, doesn’t mean it’s not enjoyable.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer. District 13: Ultimatum is slated to hit theaters on February 5, 2010.

New Posters for A SINGLE MAN, THE ROAD and DISTRICT 13: ULTIMATUM

The Weinstein Company has released a new poster for The Road and A Single Man.  While I liked the previous poster for The Road, I understand using a huge quote saying how great the movie is as a way to help sell the movie.

However, the new poster for A Single Man is just perfect.  Just like the movie, the poster is elegant, and it sells the relationships of the film.  Colin Firth is looking at whatever is holding his interest (most likely Matthew Goode) and Julianne Moore is looking at what she wants most, but can’t have.  While I haven’t yet raved about A Single Man on Collider, the film is an amazing first feature from director Tom Ford and I’ll have more in the coming weeks.

Finally, Magnet has released the first poster for District 13: Ultimatum.  This is the sequel to the Luc Besson written D13.  The poster sells exactly what it should…the action.  Check them out after the jump:
