Yesterday, we reported that G.I. Joe: Retaliation would be moving all the way back to March 29, 2013 so the film could undergo a 3D post-conversion. The news came as a shock considering the film was only a month away, and Paramount had already sunk millions of dollars into marketing the blockbuster. So will it be worth it? According to Dwayne Johnson, who plays Roadblock, “It will be.” Responding on Twitter follower @JimmyinGA, Johnson said the production was “Designing new scenes to enhance 3D.” Translation: re-shoots.

Well this is rather shocking. Director Jon M. Chu‘s G.I. Joe: Retaliation was slated to open on June 29th, a little over a month away, but now Paramount has made a last-minute decision to push the film back all the way to March 29th of 2013. Deadline reports that the move was made in order to do a “conscientious 3D” post-conversion. This is a bit nuts, as we’ve already seen a ton of promotional material including trailers, TV spots, character posters, and even a fair share of interviews. Hit the jump for much more.

Last week, a random Twitter user mentioned her desire to see The Rock as a DC superhero. Dwayne Johnson, forever in touch with his fans, tweeted in response, “Funny U say that…“ That obviously sparked fervent speculation. Bleeding Cool followed up with an interesting possibility: the antihero biker Lobo. Bleeding Cool admits their source is untested, one who purportedly overheard Johnson boasting at a party that he will play Lobo. But the rumor is a good fit. There is a Lobo adaptation in development. Brad Peyton, the director of Johnson’s last movie Journey 2: The Center of the Earth, is steering the ship. And no actor really has that Lobo physique other than The Rock. So all the pieces fit—we’re just missing the important ones that spell “O-f-f-i-c-i-a-l” across the top. We’ll put a pin in this for now. In the meantime, hit the jump for background on Lobo.

Two new posters have been released for G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The only movie this summer with a ninja avalanche, the second G.I. Joe film looks like all kinds of fun. The story has the Joes striking back after almost being wiped out by Cobra forces under the direction of Cobra Commander and Presidential impersonator, Zartan (the President is played by Jonathan Pryce). However, I’m not sure the Joes will succeed if they can’t even notice the giant Cobra Commander head behind them.
Hit the jump to check out the posters. The film also stars Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, D.J. Cotrona, and Bruce Willis. G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens June 29th.

Movies keep trying to kill Michelle Rodriguez, but luckily she keeps finding a way to come back. Rodriguez is set to return in two sequels: one, a true sequel in Machete Kills and one, the sixth installment in the Fast and the Furious franchise. As for director Robert Rodriguez’s sequel, Michelle Rodriguez will reprise her role as Luz, the leader of an illegal immigrant aid movement known as the Network. She’ll be starring alongside Mel Gibson who recently joined the cast.
The Fast and the Furious 6, which will feature the directorial return of Justin Lin (Fast Five) and, perhaps more importantly, the return of Rodriguez’s character, Letty, something that was teased at the end of the previous film. Shooting next month, The Fast and the Furious 6 also stars Dwayne Johnson, Gina Carano, Jordana Brewster and, of course, Vin Diesel. Hit the jump for more, including details on Gibson’s role in Machete Kills.

I want to send a big “Thank You” to my colleagues Matt, Adam, and Dave for inviting me to be a part of our new podcast, The Collision, last week. I had an excellent time chatting it up with Matt and Adam and I give those guys and Dave a ton of credit for using what might otherwise be well deserved time off (i.e. Sunday nights) in the name of continuing to offer our readers additional original content. In case you missed it, I encourage you to click here to listen to Episode 4 and click here to add The Collision to your RSS feed.

Check out a brief recap and link to each after the jump.

We’ve got a set of action-packed images for your enjoyment today. Rather than bore you with a wordy introduction, I’ll just get right to the pertinent details:

Paramount has released some new images from their upcoming releases as part of their 2012 preview. As such, we’ve got new looks at The Dictator, the animated holiday film Rise of the Guardians, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. We’ve seen one of the G.I. Joe images before, but this version is in super duper high resolution. Out of these three films, I’m actually the most excited for Rise of the Guardians. The adventure story centers on a group of heroes who must join forces to protect “the hopes, beliefs and imagination of the children all over the world.” The twist is that the heroes are Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Sandman, the Tooth Fairy and Jack Frost. I loved the first trailer, and the character details we recent received were incredibly enticing.
Hit the jump to check out images from each film. You can read Steve’s recap from Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation right here. The Dictator opens on May 16th, G.I. Joe: Retaliation hits theaters on June 29th, and Rise of the Guardians will be released on November 21st.

Though we’ve already posted a bounty of G.I. Joe: Retaliation material over the past few days, there’s one more Joe-related story to add to the pile: an international trailer. The new trailer for the sequel premiered yesterday, and this international trailer differs from that one in two ways: more global focus, and more ninjas. The first trailer for the film pleasantly surprised me, but yesterday’s clip left me a little disheartened. I want to see a movie that’s not simply a CGI-heavy Transformers rehash, and I’m hoping director Jon M. Chu has a fun take up his sleeve that’s more hand-to-hand combat oriented. Ninjas automatically make a movie at least 45% cooler, and Dwayne Johnson is the king of charisma.
Hit the jump to check out the international trailer and for a quick rundown on all our recent G.I. Joe: Retaliation coverage. The film opens on June 29th and also stars Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and D.J. Cotrona.

With director Jon M. Chu‘s G.I. Joe: Retaliation opening June 29, Paramount has been amping up the promotional campaign this past week by debuting a ton of character posters and a great looking trailer. As a fan of the first film, I’ll admit the sequel looks even better and it’s rocking a great cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and D.J. Cotrona.
Earlier today at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, I got to sit down with Dwayne Johnson for an extended interview. We talked about how he was approached to play Roadblock, the tone of the film, how he collaborated with director Jon M. Chu before production began, his thoughts on the brand new trailer and the sizzle reel I saw last night (here’s my recap), and more. In addition, with Johnson currently filming Michael Bay‘s Pain and Gain, we talked about the crazy story it’s based on, the style Bay is going for, and he also said that after he wraps, he’ll start shooting Fast Six in London and Berlin and then he heads to New Zealand for director Brett Ratner’s Hercules. Hit the jump to either watch or read what he had to say.

With director Jon M. Chu‘s G.I. Joe: Retaliation opening June 29, Paramount and Hasbro are starting to amp up the promotion of the movie by releasing a great new trailer and by having some of the cast (Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki and D.J. Cotrona) talk about the film at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Prior to doing the interviews, I got to watch an impressive five minute sizzle reel and the new trailer with a group of reporters. If you were disappointed with the first G.I. Joe movie, the sequel looks to be a big improvement, as it’s going for a more real world approach while still trying to be a fun action movie. Also, with the majority of the Joe’s possibly getting killed in the first ten minutes (which is why it’s called Retaliation), the sequel could almost be considered a reboot. The sequel also stars Bruce Willis, Channning Tatum, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Joseph Mazzello, Elodie Yung, and Walton Goggins. Hit the jump for more.

Paramount has released a new trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation that reveals more of the story and showcases some really cool action that’s been amplified by some great looking CGI. While I was in the minority for liking the first G.I. Joe movie, I’ll admit the new trailer looks like a huge step forward for the franchise and the casting of Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock and Bruce Willis as the original Joe seems like it’s going to pay off in a big way at the box office. Hit the jump to check out the new trailer which features London getting hit by a Cobra missle.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens June 29 and also stars Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and D.J. Cotrona.

Paramount will be debuting eight character posters for G.I. Joe: Retaliation throughout the day. Every hour, a new character poster will go online at a different site, and we’ll update this article when that happens. The first poster has gone live, and you can check it out after the jump. Keep checking back for the latest poster. We’ll be debuting our character at 3pm (PST). [Update: International sites refused to acknowledge the embargoes of Collider and other movie websites, so Paramount has given all of us the go-ahead to release our posters. Click here to check out ours, and hit the jump to check out all the ones that have hit the web thus far.]
G.I. Joe: Retaliation stars Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and D.J. Cotrona. The film opens June 29th.

It’s easy to get overshadowed with The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises crowding the spotlight, but G.I. Joe: Retaliation has more than enough might to muscle their way in. In these new character images, we get a look at our favorite Joes in action, including the original Joe (Bruce Willis). In this sequel directed by Jon M. Chu (Step Up 3D), the Joes are decimated by a Cobra attack that leaves only a few of the good guys standing. The remaining Joes must band together to take down the evil organization. G.I. Joe: Retaliation also stars Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson and D.J. Cotrona. It’s been a while since we reported on the adaptation of the graphic novel, Lore, but the addition of star Dwayne Johnson makes it relevant again. The graphic novel by husband-and-wife team, T.P. Louise (author) and Ashley Wood (illustrator), follows an ancient line of protectors known as Shepherds who defend our world against dangerous mythological beasts. We previously reported that scribes Cory Goodman (Priest) and Jeremy Lott had signed on to pen the adaptation with producers looking to turn the property into a franchise similar to Men in Black. Now, it looks like Warner Bros. will be the lucky studio to try. THR reports they’ve picked up the adapted screenplay and underlying rights to the source for seven figures. Hit the jump to check out the synopsis for Lore, as well as news on another recent six-figure acquisition for Warner Bros.
