Coming off the success of the documentary Catfish and the fake documentary Paranormal Activity 3, directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are looking to tackle a film of a different sort. Deadline reports that Josst and Schulman will write and direct an adaptation of Edward Abbey’s 1975 novel The Monkey Wrench Gang. The story centers on four guys in the 1970s who try to sabotage over-development in the American West. Three of the four vow to not harm “human, animal, plant or rock,” while the fourth is more interested in the effects of pyrotechnics.
Joost and Schulman are returning to direct Paranormal Activity 4, after which they’ll presumably move on to The Monkey Wrench Gang. Hit the jump to read a synopsis for the book.
