New R-Rated Spot for Jason Reitman’s YOUNG ADULT

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: November 29th, 2011 at 7:50 am

A new R-rated spot for director Jason Reitman’s Young Adult has gone online. The film stars Charlize Theron as an alcoholic young adult fiction novelist who returns to her hometown in order to pursue her now-married high school boyfriend. This clips proves that Theron’s character is a terrible, terrible human being. It also proves that it’s incredibly fun to watch Theron marvel in the nastiness. I’m a huge fan of Reitman’s work and I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. The film’s been turning heads in the awards communities (especially Theron and co-star Patton Oswalt’s performances), and I can’t wait to check out this decidedly dark character piece. The fact that Reitman’s Juno scribe Diablo Cody wrote the script doesn’t hurt either.

Hit the jump to check out the spot. The film also stars Patrick Wilson and Elizabeth Reaser. Young Adult opens in limited release on December 9th and expands nationwide a week later.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1 Jacob Trailer

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: October 27th, 2011 at 1:56 pm

A new trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 has been released. This trailer focuses on the character Jacob, so we can reasonably expect more character trailers to be released leading up to the film’s premiere. Taylor Lautner is all angsty and pouty in the trailer, pining for Kristen Stewart who’s now been ruined by Robert Pattinson’s seed. Also, Stewart’s sickly appearance is a PSA for anyone hoping to get impregnated by a vampire. If you missed the behind-the-scenes featurette we posted earlier today, you can check that out here.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, and Kellan LutzThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 opens November 18th.

First Trailer for Jason Reitman’s YOUNG ADULT [Updated with Alternate Trailer]

The first trailer for Jason Reitman’s Young Adult has gone online.  Written by Diablo Cody, the story centers on an alcoholic writer of young adult fiction (Charlize Theron) who decides to return to her small hometown and pursue her high-school boyfriend (Patrick Wilson) even though he’s now happily married and has a young child.  What I dig about this trailer is that it is almost entirely devoid of sentiment.   Charlize Theron’s character is apparently just a sad, selfish person and Theron looks like she’s having some fun with the role when she’s not giving a dead-eyed stare. The film also stars Patton Oswalt, J.K. Simmons, and Elizabeth Reaser.  Young Adult opens in limited release on December 2nd and expands nationwide the following weekend. [Update: Hit the jump to check out an alternate, slightly raunchy trailer]

With the fourth installment of the Twilight Saga premiering November 18th, even the ensemble stars are quickly becoming household names. Along with veteran cast members Elizabeth Reaser (Esme Cullen), Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) and Nikki Reed (Rosalie Hale), newcomers Julia Jones and BooBoo Stewart, who play the Clearwater siblings, rounded out the first panel of talent at Summit’s press room. Earlier in the morning, the group surprised unsuspecting—or, perhaps wistfully suspecting—fans by greeting them at breakfast. The cast appeared genuinely thankful for the Twi-hards’ enduring enthusiasm, and spoke excitedly about the next installment.

Below are some highlights from the press conference. Find the full transcript after the jump.

The first trailer The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 has hit the net.  In the first half of the final chapter of the Twilight series, “the newfound married bliss of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) is cut short when a series of betrayals and misfortunes threatens to destroy their world.”  Taylor Lautner, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Michael Sheen, and Dakota Fanning star under the direction of Bill Condon (Dreamgirls).  The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 opens November 18.  Watch the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think in the comments.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN Part 2 Gets Released November 16, 2012

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: August 3rd, 2010 at 12:17 pm

Summit Entertainment has just announced The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 will get released on November 16, 2012.  While the studio had previously announced Breaking Dawn would be two movies, no release date had been set for part two.  For fans of the Twilight franchise, a fall 2012 release date means you’ll be waiting a full year to see the conclusion of the Twilight franchise as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 gets released on November 18, 2011.

While I’m sure some fans were hoping for a summer release for part two, this makes a lot more business sense.  By releasing in the fall, the studio will have plenty of time to use the home video window to sell DVD’s and Blu-rays and they’ll also most likely use Comic-Con 2012 as another opportunity to promote the franchise.

To the deafening screams of thousands of fans (most of whom were female, naturally) that had camped out for four days, the stars of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse stepped out at L.A. Live’s Nokia Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, June 24th for the film’s highly anticipated premiere, which was part of the Los Angeles Film Festival.

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner were joined by their co-stars, including Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Dakota Fanning, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anna Kendrick, Charlie Bewley, Xavier Samuel, Alex Meraz and Julia Jones, along with pretty much all of the other actors who have played vampires, werewolves and humans in the films, no matter how small the role. Also in attendance were director David Slade, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, the film’s producers, some of the soundtrack artists (The Bravery, Metric, Eastern Conference Champions) and the woman responsible for it all, author Stephenie Meyer.  Check out the exclusive photos after the jump:

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN Broken in to Two Parts; First Film Debuts on November 18, 2011

by Brendan Bettinger    Posted: June 10th, 2010 at 6:43 pm

It’s long been rumored, even assumed, that Summit would separate the final chapter of their vampire franchise, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, into two parts — it’s finally official by way of press release.  Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, and Kellan Lutz are all set to reprise their roles in the fourth and fifth Twilight films.  Bill Condon  (Dreamgirls) will direct both parts, with production set to commence this fall.  The first Breaking Dawn film is set for release on November 18, 2011, while The Twilight Saga: Eclipse hits theaters on June 30, 2010.  Hit the jump for the official press release.

Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, and Billy Burke Sign on to BREAKING DAWN; Plus Three New TWILIGHT: ECLIPSE Posters

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: May 19th, 2010 at 3:44 pm

Summit Entertainment has just sent out a press release announcing The Cullen Family (Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser, and Nikki Reed) have signed on for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn and they’ll be joining Billy Burke as Charlie Swan.  What I find interesting about the press release is the lack of any mention of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner and Breaking Dawn.

What this tells me is Summit made deals with all the minor characters in the Twilight franchise and now they’re moving onto the major players.  Also, the press release makes no mention of whether or not Breaking Dawn will be one or two movies, but I think we all know it’s going to be two.

Hit the jump for the press release and check out three new The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie posters.

Freddie Highmore (Finding Neverland) and Emma Roberts (Nancy Drew) are finishing the filming of their new film Homework this week in New York. Variety is reporting that the movie is currently underway, with a supporting cast that includes Alicia Silverstone, Elizabeth Reaser, Blair Underwood and Rita Wilson, with Michael Angarano (Gentlemen Broncos) set to play one of the graduates of the High School Roberts and Highmore attend. This is the first movie for writer-director Gavin Wiesen, which is about a young boy’s relationship with a girl he’s fallen in love with from a distance. Gigi Films’ Gia Walsh and Kara Baker, Darren Goldberg and Mint Pictures’ P. Jennifer Dana are producing. There is no release date yet for the movie.

High Resolution DVD/Blu-ray Cover Art from THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON – Plus What Extras Are Included

Summit Entertainment has just announced The Twilight Saga: New Moon will be arriving on home video March 20, 2010. The release will feature a six part behind the scenes documentary, music videos, and an audio commentary by director Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert.

What’s interesting about this announcement is back when the movie was getting ready to come out, director Chris Weitz told me he was going to include ten minutes of deleted scenes on the DVD/Blu-ray.  If I was a betting man, I would wager Summit decided to hold the deleted scenes either for an eventual theatrical re-release, or for the ultimate box set that will be released after all the films have been made.  After all, you need to offer the fans something they don’t already have and deleted scenes are a perfect way of doing that.  Of course I don’t have any proof…but considering he said they’d be included, it makes a lot of sense.  Hit the jump for high-resolution cover art of the Blu-ray and the press release:

Stephenie Meyer, Michael Sheen, Dakota Fanning, Ashley Greene and Director Chris Weitz On Set Interviews – THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON

Sheen, Fanning, and Bower From NEW MOON - slice.jpg

As I said yesterday, while I never post studio provided interviews, when you’re dealing with a property like “The Twilight Saga: New Moon”, you make exceptions. Also, I know some of you “Twilight” fans and you want to see everything.

Here’s what you need to know: when actors are on set and filming a movie, at some point they do generic interviews for the eventual EPK (electronic press kit). Meaning some studio intern or production assistant asks the most basic questions and the actor answers them. They’re not exactly hard hitting interviews. But, like I said, you “Twilight” fans want to see everything and I aim to please. So after the jump you can watch on set video interviews with Stephenie Meyer, Michael Sheen, Dakota Fanning, Ashley Greene and Director Chris Weitz.
