The drama series Mr. Selfridge, which airs on PBS’ Masterpiece Classic, tells the story of an American man, named Harry Selfridge (Jeremy Piven in his first television role since Entourage), who created the renowned London department store Selfridges in 1909 and changed shopping forever.  With an incredible charm and bold vision, the fancy window displays, cosmetics counters and merchandise Selfridge would allow potential customers to touch would eventually become commonplace.

During this exclusive interview with Collider, actor Jeremy Piven talked about how he came to be a part of this television series, what makes Harry Selfridge such an interesting man, the similarities between Harry Selfridge and Ari Gold, that he’s become very protective of this character, how viewers will get to see the light and dark sides of this man, and that he would love to continue exploring this role for future seasons.  He also talked about the fans’ desire to see an Entourage movie, and not being worried about making a misstep by continuing the story for a feature.  Check out what he had to say after the jump. 

It appears that the long-promised Entourage movie might actually be happening.  Creator Doug Ellin and executive producer Mark Wahlberg have been touting a feature film version of the HBO “comedy” series for quite some time, and now Deadline reports that Warner Bros. has given a greenlight to the project.  Ellin wrote the script and will direct the movie, which he previously revealed takes place six months after the series finale.  Hit the jump for more.

For anyone still itching to see an Entourage movie, the film just became a bit more of a reality.  Series creator Doug Ellin recently revealed that he’s on page 110 of the screenplay and he’s nearly finished.  The movie will pick up six months after the show’s series finale left off, with Ari (Jeremy Piven) now a fully-fledge studio head and Vince (Adrien Grenier) hours away from some impending nuputuals.  Ellin notes that Ari’s studio head status was “page one” for him, but the film also focuses on Vince and his crew “still hanging out and going to fun parties.”  Who needs character development anyway, eh?  Hit the jump for more.

While at the HBO portion of the TCA Press Tour, President of Programming Michael Lombardo and co-President Richard Plepler took some time to talk about new and returning programming.  During the interview, they spoke about how long Game of Thrones and True Blood could run for, the status of the Entourage movie, their movie deal with Larry David and the affect that could have on future seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm, their thoughts on the first season of The Newsroom, the possibility of a fourth season for Treme, and what viewers can expect from the Woody Harrelson/Matthew McConaughey series True Detective.  Check out what they had to say after the jump.

The animated series TRON: Uprising, debuting with a special preview on the Disney Channel on May 18^th before premiering on Disney XD on June 7^th, takes place after the 1982 feature film and before the events in TRON: Legacy. Produced in CG animation with a 2D aesthetic, the series follows the heroic journey of a new character named Beck (voiced by Elijah Wood), a young program who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid.  You can watch the first episode here.

At the press day for this highly anticipated new show, actress Emmanuelle Chriqui, who voices Paige, General Tesler’s (voiced by Lance Henriksen) confident and polished field commander, talked about how blown away she was by the look of the entire series, having been familiar with the original TRON film, what attracted her to the role, how Paige is much more than just a villain, the process of building the character’s persona, and what she enjoys about voice-over work. She also talked about how she’d love to do a live-action action movie, what she looks for in a role, playing a recurring character on the CBS drama series The Mentalist, and the current status of the Entourage movie. The comedy Think Like A Man, out in theaters on April 20^th, is about a group of friends who have their love lives shaken up, after the women they are pursuing buy Steve Harvey’s best-selling book (that the film is inspired by) and start taking his advice to heart.  When they realize that they have been betrayed by one of their own, they conspire to use the book’s teachings to turn the tables.  The film features an ensemble cast that includes Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Meagan Good, Regina Hall, Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Romany Malco and Gabrielle Union.

During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, actor Jerry Ferrara talked about what drew him to Think Like A Man, how he could relate to playing the slacker, that there’s something for everyone in the film, and how much improvising went on during shooting.  He also talked about how the Entourage movie is definitely still in the works (show creator Doug Ellin is currently writing it), what it was like to be a part of such a huge film as Battleship (in theaters on May 18^th) and who he plays in the film, his upcoming horror-thriller 7500 (scheduled for release on August 31^st), the directors he’d love to work with, and that his goals in this business are longevity and respect.  Check out what he had to say after the jump:

Opening tomorrow is director Baltasar Kormákur’s crime thriller Contraband. Set in the world of international smuggling, the film stars Mark Wahlberg as a man trying to escape his days as a criminal. When his brother-in-law (Caleb Landry Jones) botches a deal, Wahlberg’s character must settle his brother-in-law’s debt in order to keep him safe from a drug boss (Giovanni Ribisi).  The film also stars Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster, J.K. Simmons, and Diego Luna.

Last week I was able to get on the phone with Wahlberg for an exclusive interview.  During our wide ranging conversation, we talked about the New England Patriots playoff chances (we’re both from New England), how he got involved in Contraband, the action scenes, how he prepares for his roles, and what it was like to film on a real ship.  In addition, with Wahlberg involved in so many other projects, he talked about The Fighter sequel, the Entourage movie, working with Adam McKay and Will Ferrell again in Three Mississippi, The Departed sequel, Michael Bay‘s Pain and Gain, Seth MacFarlane‘s Ted, the untitled Basketball movie with Justin Bieber, and a lot more.  Hit the jump to read or listen to the interview.

Mark Wahlberg is a very busy guy.  In addition to acting, Wahlberg has become increasingly involved in producing not only feature films, but a handful of original series as well.  With Wahlberg’s new crime thriller Contraband opening next week, earlier today Steve got the chance to speak with the hard-working actor.  While we’ll have the full interview up next week, we wanted to share what Wahlberg had to say regarding The Fighter sequel, the Entourage movie, and Michael Bay’s small-budget dark comedy Pain and Gain.

While it was previously reported that Wahlberg had passed on Pain and Gain, the actor revealed that he’s still very much considering the project and he’s currently waiting on a new draft of the script.  Hit the jump to see what Wahlberg had to say concerning all the projects.

Now that his hit HBO series Entourage has finished filming its final season, actor Jeremy Piven said that he’s just trying to impress his nieces. Taking a variety of roles in Spy Kids: All the Time in the World – the most notable of which is the mysterious Timekeeper – is sure to help him, in that regard. In the film, Timekeeper is angry at the world for squandering time and wants to steal it back, believing that he could do more valuable things with it. He feels that families don’t use their time together wisely and, as such, he is a super-villain with family values.

At the film’s press day, Jeremy Piven talked about the appeal of playing a handful of different characters that show his range, all in the same film, being the misunderstood villain, how comfortable he is with green screen work, and how much fun he had working with Jessica Alba. He also talked about how totally fulfilled and grateful he is for his experience on Entourage, how satisfying it was to humanize Ari Gold, his desire to return to the theater for the right role, and how he’s hoping to impress his nieces again with a role opposite Miley Cyrus in the upcoming feature So Undercover. With the final season of Entourage set to premiere Sunday, July 24, HBO has released a thirty minute farewell to the series, which features interviews with the cast and creators of the show.  Included are Adrian Grenier (Vince), Kevin Dillon (Drama), Jerry Ferrara (Turtle), Kevin Connolly (E), Jeremy Piven (Ari Gold), Rex Lee (Lloyd), Debi Mazar (Shauna), Doug Ellin (creator), Ally Musika (writer), Mark Wahlberg & Stephen Levinson (executive producers), and they even have some of the real people the characters are based on.  During the thirty minutes they talk about how the show came together and how difficult it was to get on the air, tell some great stories, and they also talk about the legacy of the show.  I started watching it and before I knew it, I’d watched the whole thing.  Hit the jump to check it out.

As the regular TV season winds down, HBO’s anticipated summer season of television is inching closer. Today the cable network just announced the premiere dates for their long-running series returning in the middle of the summer. True Blood is back for a 12-episode fourth season run which will debut Sunday, June 26th at 9/8c, so you know summer is going to be bloody and sexy. Larry David’s hit comedy series returns for a 10-episode run for the eighth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm (which we already know will have a guest appearance by Ricky Gervais ) on Sunday, July 10th at 10/9c. Finally Entourage returns for eight episodes for the series’ eighth and final season on Sunday, July 24th at 10:30/9:30c. The series has had a good run, but Vinny Chase has about all the ups and downs his career can handle. Should be a hell of a summer on HBO.

In Elektra Luxx, the follow-up to writer/director Sebastian Gutierrez’s 2009 film Women in Trouble, actress Emmanuelle Chriqui plays Bambi, a sexy stripper who has gone on a getaway trip to Mexico with her best friend, Holly Rocket (Adrianne Palicki). While away, porn star Holly Rocket decides to finally get up the courage to tell Bambi how she really feels about her, truly shocking the unexpecting Bambi.

At the film’s press day, Emmanuelle Chriqui did this exclusive interview with Collider, where she talked about revisiting this character, how much she has enjoyed working with Adrianne Palicki, and how Sebastian Gutierrez is great to work with because he just innately understands her, as a person. She also talked about voicing a character on the ThunderCats reboot on Cartoon Network (update: we’ve spoken to the studio and confirmed it’s Cheetara) and the Tron: Uprising animated series (set to air on Disney XD in the summer of 2012, with a preview on the DVD/Blu-ray release of Tron: Legacy), her role on the upcoming Showtime series The Borgias, and what she’d like to see happen with her character on the last season of the HBO series Entourage. Elektra Luxx follows its title character, first introduced by writer/director Sebastian Gutierrez in 2009′s Women in Trouble, who is now a retired porn superstar, trying to cope with impending motherhood while coming to terms with the death of the baby’s father and her split from the porn world. Even though Elektra Luxx (Carla Gugino) is trying to live a quieter life, reinventing herself as a sex education instructor at her local community center, she quickly ends up entangled with a flight attendant (Marley Shelton) looking to have her fiancé seduced, an attractive private detective (Timothy Olyphant) who proves to be quite appealing, an over-eager sex blogger (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who’s obsessed with her, a best-selling author (Kathleen Quinlan) looking to turn her life into a novel, and even the Virgin Mary (Julianne Moore) herself.

During the film’s press day, actress Carla Gugino did this exclusive interview with Collider and talked about the appeal of this rather unusual character, how much she enjoyed getting to revisit Elektra Luxx, and the challenge of shooting a film in 15 days. She also talked about how getting to see the final visuals of Sucker Punch (in theaters on March 25^th) was like seeing the story brought to life for the first time, being part of the ensemble of the Garry Marshall film New Year’s Eve, and playing really strong women on both Entourage and Californication. I’m a huge fan of Jeremy Piven.  Whether it be his outstanding work on HBO’s Entourage, or his small but memorable roles in films like Smokin’ Aces, The Kingdom, and Cameron Crowe’s Singles, Piven is a tornado of energy that you always remember.  So when I heard that he was going to be at Sundance to promote director Mark Pellington’s I Melt With You (which he stars in along with Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe, Christian McKay and Carla Gugino), I made sure to land an interview.  Thankfully, my request went through and the other day I spent about ten minutes talking with him at the Bing Bar on Main Street.

During the interview we talked about what drew him to the project, who he plays and what the film is about, how he prepares, discusses the independent spirit of Sundance and how Robert Redford is one of his heroes, improv, reminisces about his early work in Cameron Crowe’s Singles and how it connected him to Eddie Vedder, and we ended the interview talked about the last season of Entourage and he says the next (last) season starts to film in April.  Hit the jump to watch:

We sat down with Carla Gugino to talk about her new movie, Every Day, a story about a family’s struggle to survive life’s curve-balls that ultimately bring out the best and worst in us and make us closer.

Ned (Liev Schreiber) is a television writer on a seedy drama whose life is turned upside down when his wife’s (Helen Hunt) estranged father (Brian Dennehy) moves in with their family. Carla plays his sexy, free-spirited co-worker who lives in the moment and doesn’t think too much about the consequences. She’s a playful character who introduces some unexpected excitement into Ned’s life while nearly upending it in the process.

Carla talked to us about what attracted her to the project, what she liked best about her character, and also talked about her upcoming films like Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, I Melt with You, Mr. Popper’s Penguins.  In addition, she shared her thoughts on next season’s Entourage and the Sundance Film Festival.  Hit the jump for what she had to say.
