Anyone involved in the business of filmmaking would love to be able to cut together a professional reel like three-time Oscar winning editor Michael Kahn. Included in his more than 60 feature film editing credits is a ton of work on Steven Spielberg films such as Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic ParkSchindler’s List, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. With this small sample of his body of work in mind, Kahn was recently honored by the American Cinema Editors with a Lifetime Achievement Award. As part of the ceremony, the A.C.E. showed this seven-minute cut of the editor’s work during their awards ceremony on Saturday, February 19th. To be brief, it truly is amazing to see this type of influential work condensed into seven minutes.

Official Trailer for CHLOE Starring Amanda Seyfreid, Julianne Moore, and Liam Neeson

Earlier in the month we featured an international red band trailer for Chloe, the new film from director Atom Egoyan starring Amanda Seyfreid, Julianne Moore, and Liam Neeson.  Now Sony Pictures Classics has released an official green band trailer that is decidedly less European; that is to say, it features nearly all the same scenes but none of the nudity.  From the very tense footage on display, Chloe looks to be an escalating cat-and-mouse thriller infused with lust and betrayal a la Fatal Attraction.  Seyfreid seems perfect for her assigned role of seductress, given her uniquely lovely features, while Moore and Neeson are sure to bring gravitas to their potentially melodramatic roles.  More after the jump:

FATAL ATTRACTION and INDECENT PROPOSAL Blu-ray Reviews

Fatal Attraction Blu-ray.jpgAdrian Lyne directed 9 ½ Weeks, Fatal Attraction, Indecent Proposal, Lolita, and Unfaithful. That is an auteur in action, and his concerns are very focused. Lyne appears obsessed with the upper middle class and their relationship to fucking.

Fatal Attraction is one of those films that managed to become a zeitgeist. Michael Douglas stars as Dan Gallagher, a lawyer who ends up sleeping with Alex Forrest (Glenn Close) one night, and then spends the weekend with her. They’re both careerists, but Alex is unmarried, and Dan has a wife (Anne Archer) and daughter. Their relationship terminates quickly, but Alex won’t go away, especially after she announces that she’s pregnant.
