With director Floria Sigismondi’s The Runaways finally getting released into more theaters tomorrow, it’s time to share the video interview I did with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning.  Since we’ve been covering the film for months, I shouldn’t have to tell you anything about it.  But for the three people that don’t know:

The Runaways is based on the book Neon Angel: The Cherie Currie Story by Cherie Currie and it tells the coming-of-age story of the teenage rock band The Runaways and how they came together in the mid 1970′s.  Kristen Stewart stars as Joan Jett, Dakota Fanning is Cherie Currie, and Michael Shannon stars as the über-eccentric Kim Fowley – the man who put The Runaways together.

During the interview Stewart and Fanning answered questions I got via Twitter (thanks to everyone who tweeted me questions) and if you watch time index 2:50 or so, you can hear what sounds like the wall falling and see their reactions.  It’s actually a very relaxed and fun interview.  Check it out after the jump:

With The Runaways premiering last night at the Sundance Film Festival, the cast, writer/director Floria Sigismondi, Joan Jett and Cherie Currie met with reporters yesterday afternoon.  Thankfully, I was invited to participate in the roundtable interviews and after the jump you can either read or listen to the interview with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning.

As I said in my review of The Runaways:

With fantastic performances from Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning and Michael Shannon, The Runaways delivered the goods at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.  Based on the book Neon Angel: The Cherie Currie Story by Cherie Currie, The Runaways tells the coming-of-age story of the teenage rock band The Runaways and how they came together in the mid 1970′s.  Kristen Stewart stars as Joan Jett, Dakota Fanning is Cherie Currie, and Michael Shannon stars as the über-eccentric Kim Fowley – the man who put The Runaways together.

During the interview, Stewart and Fanning discussed making the film, really playing and singing their parts, being at Sundance, their kissing scene, and I asked Stewart about playing a part that features  adult subject matter with her very large teenage fanbase.  If you’re a fan of Kristen Stewart or Dakota Fanning, you’ll love the interview:

The other day we posted the teaser poster of writer/director Floria Sigismondi’s The Runaways.  Since many people love to take movie images and posters and make them screensavers or desktop backdrops, I’ve taken the super high resolution version of the poster and placed it after the jump.

And if you missed my review of the film, click here.  And here’s eight super high res images from the film.  Later tonight I’m posting my Sundance interview with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, so check back for that.

While there was a lot of debate if the film would show a no-holds-barred account of what The Runaways really went through back in the 70′s – like the drug use and the in-band make-out sessions – not only does the film show a warts-and-all look at what happened to the band – at times you’ll feel like you’re watching documentary footage from the era as Stewart and Fanning are really playing and singing in the film, and they both deliver inspired performances.  For more of my thoughts on the film, hit the jump:

Apparition to Release THE RUNAWAYS, Starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, on March 19, 2010

According to EW, New York-based Apparition will distribute Floria Sigismondi’s The Runaways to US theaters on March 19, 2010.  Making its debut at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, Runaways focuses on the eponymous all-female rock goup led by Joan Jett (played by Kristen Stewart) and Cherie Currie (played by Dakota Fanning) and their rise under their abusive manager (played by Oscar-nominee Michael Shannon).

When asked by Risky Buisness about what he found appealing about the film, Apparition chief Bob Berney said the following:

Floria made a film that is really about the relationship, so there’s more to it than just a typical rock bio. It’s really a story of the two girls, Joan and Cherie. She did it really stylized, and it’s done in a real indie spirit, which I think is the spirit of the original group and Joan’s group.

Hopefully, we’ll be hearing a lot of good buzz on the film when it plays at Sundance.  As for now, hit the jump to see a larger, better-quality image of the one we showed you a couple days ago plus a photo of director Sigismondi.
